    I'm here to help...

Guys, I am so sorry about the repeated posted messages. I am still learning the system and have learned my mistake here.

    I'm here to help...

IndigoGirl55, I was banded on 6/2 and have since lost 19 pounds. I stared out at 215 and I am currently at 196 (my goal weight is 150). However, my weight has been at a stand still since two weeks ago. I am not losing, nor am I gaining. I am scheduled for my first fill the end of July. Hopefully, that will allow me to lose more weight. I am still eating the right things and not exceeding my caloric, fat, carborhydrate, etc. intake each day. Do you think that the fill will assist me with losing more weight?

  5. Linda, Your plan sounds great! Would you mind sharing it with me as well. If you need my email address, please advise. Thanks.
  6. You're doing wonderfully! My surgery was also on 6/2, but I only lost 15 lbs. I am on soft foods as well, but I have had vegetable chilli, 1/2 soft chicken taco, yogurt, broths from Soups, and lots of fluids (i.e., Isopure, Water, and crystal light).
  7. Bandana, Thanks so much for your reply! Now just so that I understand clearly, the fill is what actually helps me lose weight, as it makes me feel a bit fuller?
  8. WHen you say that you eat what you like but with limitations, please elabotate. I would also like to eat some of the foods I like but in moderation. For example, today I had a half bowl of oatmeal and for lunch I had a half patty melt. The meals were very pleasing to me, but I would like to learn of other ways to eat what I like in moderation. I am a new banner (banded June 2, 2009), I am still kind of sore on the left side where the band is located. I have not yet began to exercise, but I am working more. Still afraid to over-exert myself, as I am still very sore. Any ideas of what I can do now for exercising and eating healthier?
  9. Surgery is over!!! I was up and walking the same day, but taking it very easy as my doctor kept me overnight for observation. I went for my follow-up prior to returning the work within 7 days following my discharge, and everything seemed to be going as planned. I am healing according to what the doctor had expected, but my abdomen was still very swollen from the surgery. Therefore, the doctor stated that he was unable to find the port for a possible fill. That was normal according to the doctor, but I am still swollen and soar on the left side where the lapband was placed. My question to you is, "How long does it take before the swelling and soreness subside?". I would like to begin working out, and my next appointment for a fill is July 26, 2009. I hope the swelling goes down then -- I'm kind of concerned about that. Also, my exciting news is that I have already lost 15 pounds and moving along for additional loss. Last week I started with cream of wheat for Breakfast and chicken broth for lunch and dinner. This week I am eating fat free oatmeal for breakfast and last night I had a half of a soft taco which was so very yummy. However, but after taking a couple of bites, I was done with that taco. However, I noticed that as the days go by, I am beginning to get hungry. Is this because I need my first fill? Hope all is well with you and everyone on this forum. Your response concerning this matter is so very much appreciated. In the midst of my journey!!!!

    Maybe I over did it?

Jenny, When did you know you were ready to begin exercising? I am still very swollen and sore and not able to workout.

    Maybe I over did it?

Foxxy, When did you begin exercising following our surgery? I had my surgery the morning of June 2 and my abdomen is still sore and very swollen. I can't wait to start my workout regime, but I can't due to the swelling of my abdomen. I am beginning to think that something is work. Following my visit to the doctor's office prior to returning to work, my doctor told me that the swellingness was normal. That was last week, but I am still swollen and sore. Is this normal?

  13. Thanks so much for your reply. The surgeon that is performing my surgery is very high on preventing blood clotting. Each one of his patients are subjected to the injections. Thanks for your support and great advice. I took look forward to a skinnier me!!
  14. MinnesotaLady, I enjoyed reading your post. I too am married with various issues that I am currently trying to Iron the kinks out of, however, that is now on the back burner for now as my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow moring. I have to do my own injections at home following the surgery. I have never had to give myself injections. The injections are for preventing post blood clots and the medicine is to be injected into my stomach through the syringe each day for about 10 days. Have you or anyone had to do this following surgery? If so, what was you experience with this procedure? I am simply not a fan of needles. Any thoughts concerning this matter is so much appreciated.
  15. Minnesotalady, Thanks so very much for your reply to my message. It was so very encouraging. I am more inspired to work diligently at maintaining my caloric intake prior to and following the surgery, as I too want to see good progress. It would be nice to be on the liquid diet for only a few days following the procedure, but unfortunately, I will have to do it for a couple of weeks prior to moving to puree foods, yuk. Nevertheless, the results will make the hard work worth my efforts. Thanks again.

    June 3rd Banding

Hello Everyone, I am scheduled for surgery on 6/3. My Pre Op visit to the doctors was on the 21st of May. The dietician instructed me to begin liquids on 5/22. However, I have eaten a little on Memorial day (just a piece of steak and about 3 diced potatoes). I am starting straight liquids today 5/26 until the date of my surgery. Not eating anything on Memorial Day was a great challenge. Is a week prior to my scheduled surgery enough time to do straight liquids? Please advise me of whether this will pose an hinderance on my surgery. Getting cold feet, as I have read several posts about perhaps making a bad decision to have the surgery -- these thoughts occurred in these individuals after surgery, during Post Opt. Scares me as there is no turning back!!! Thoughts?

    June 2nd banding

I am also scheduled to go in on June 2nd. My feelings are that I am very excited but extremely nervous. I am currently on liquids until the date. On my pre op doctors visit on 5/20, I was told to begin the liquid diet on 5/21, but I ate a small amount during the holiday yesterday. Today, I am starting pure liquids until 6/2.

  23. Has anyone had to give themselves injections in their stomachs following the surgery? I was told that this was something that I would have to do following the surgery for about a week or two.
