shellyk018 got a reaction from FluffyChix in Super greens?
Hello! Does anyone take any super greens? I’ve had them before but I’m thinking it would be very helpful for me right now. I’m still not eating much, and focusing on Protein intake most of all. So I know I’m not getting all the veggies I should be. Just curious about your experience or any recommendations on any!

At 1 month post OP I was allowed solids. I think it was another 2 -3 weeks before I got to add raw veggies, nuts and seeds.
You could have a salad with soft veg like tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber that should be fine .its the more fibrous veggies that you need to be careful of

I'm three years out next month. I'm down 150 pounds. I compete in a sport at a national level and I'm in my mid 50s. When I went to the "final" stage, I was a bit scared too. My days are easiest if I keep my diet simple -so I've developed a routine, but I feel free to eat almost anything occasionally.
Breakfast - either a Protein Shake with fruit and milk in it or greek yogurt with fruit and a tablespoon of granola
lunch - grilled Protein of some kind (4 ounces) with a salad with about a tablespoon of dressing
dinner -whatever I make for the family. Tonight it was a 6 ounce pork chop baked with some barbecue sauce on it.
If I'm working out alot (which I do) I increase my carbs so I don't cannibalize muscle. It will take some time to find what works for you, but don't be scared Try one food at a time and see what happens. I still can't really eat Pasta - maybe 1/4 cup and then I feel like crap for a day or two but sometimes the craving is strong.
Take your time. Don't be afraid. Do it one step at a time.

shellyk018 got a reaction from Aprilgal in How do you have your coffee?
I’ve been cleared to have coffee (yay!) but my problem is, I only like my coffee with either the flavored Creamers that are bad for you or with lots of sugar- both a no go from my nutritionist. I’m not a huge fan of Splenda or the sugar free syrups either. I’ve been debating on even starting to drink coffee again if I’m not going to be able to have it the way I enjoy it. So my question for you guys is- how do you have your coffee post op and still enjoy it?

How long after surgery did you add these to your diet? I’ve been dying to have a salad or fresh fruit. My paperwork from my surgeons office says I can add them starting next week, a little over a month post op. So I was so excited to go grocery shopping! But I was just looking for some information online and I read somewhere not to eat ANY raw fruits or veggies until 3 months out! Please tell me your experience with this! How soon did you have them? Did you have any trouble? Do you still have any trouble with some?

So I start my stage 4 tomorrow.. as I understand this is not really a stage anymore and this is just going to be my lifestyle from now on. During every stage previous I had lists of things I could and could not have in that stage. On stage 4 I have a list of things I shouldn’t eat or drink.. soda, candy, fried food.. the obvious. My paperwork tells me to gradually start introducing new foods as tolerated and if I don’t tolerate something to try it again in a couple weeks. I’m so nervous to just start adding new things and scared of adding new foods! And it’s so intense going from very restricted stages with a set list of what I can and can’t have and now it’s like I’m on my own. Which I know, is the whole purpose here. But I’m getting a little nervous!

Oh my gosh! I’m a week and a half post op and I have the same thing! It’s only when I wake up. I pretty much always get in all my Water but still have it when I wake up. And it takes more than a few sips to get under control. I love this website haha I love knowing I’m not the only one!

Does anyone else have a problem with dry mouth at night? I'm two weeks out from surgery and am having a terrible time with it. I'm not getting enough Water in due to nausea but on the days I have, I still have struggled with the problem. Any tips? I've ordered Xylitol because I am worried about my teeth decaying.

I wont tell you to eat the chunks, but egg drop Soup was one of the early foods that I could tolerate and was sooooo yummy.

shellyk018 reacted to AZhiker in Not enough protein and making you nauseous
#1 priority is to get your Fluid in. #2 is Protein. We Arizona gals MUST get those fluids in every single day. It is too hard to catch up once we get even a little dehydrated. Try taking smaller sips more frequently. Water down the Protein Shakes if you think they feel too thick or too concentrated. Just because the schedule says you have to eat such and such by a certain week doesn't mean it will work for you perfectly. You have to listen to your body. Some weeks you have to back off certain foods a bit and then try again later. But water, water, water is the biggest priority.
Sometmes when my appetite is just not there, I try some Soup - like Progresso lentil or split pea. I can add Protein Powder to it, and the soft, more fluid texture seems to settle better.

And, although unlikely, you could turn out intolerant to either of these. Start with cheap, before you opt for the more expensive milks, okay?

Most people handle Protein Shakes just fine. Give a few a shot before you rule them out!

I couldn't do shakes, so my second week consisted of high Protein milk and yogurt. I used fairlife and YQ.
I've seen a lot of people can't stomach it after surgery, so keep these in mind if you have problems.
    Good luck!

    Congratulations on a successful surgery.
My doctor told me that after surgery my throat might be sore from the breathing tube and instrument they inserted during surgery. I also had on a leg compressor, if you did that could be the cause of your soreness in your calves.
