Pepsi is my weakness! I gave it up cold turkey! It will be one year in March since I had one. Just seeing the can makes me drool!!

DeeberLee got a reaction from Bypassgirl92 in When did you really start to see results?
For a while at the beginning of my weight loss journey . I was weighing myself everyday , 2-3 times a day. I was out of control! I've since gotten myself together and weigh myself once a week. I don't want the scale to be the only indicator of my weight loss. I've always exercised, so I see a huge difference in my clothing sizes. My body shape has changed for the better with the combination of weight loss and exercise.

Hi BrookeP21, I told my surgeon I was having second thoughts on the day of surgery! Luckily I came to my senses . This is a life changing event, so of course you're going to be nervous. To me the WLS was worth it. Everything I went through to get to this point was worth it. Good luck to you.

Hello, I had a similar situation at the job with co-workers, which I posted about. I received some helpful responses. Only my immediate family knows about my WLS, as I feel this is a personal issue. Unfortunately there is always going to be someome who thinks you took the "easy" way out. I did what I had to do for myself . I'm sure you're doing what you need to do for yourself also.

DeeberLee got a reaction from Frustr8 in HAPPY !
I woke up this morning, so happy that I had the WLS. It may have taken me three years to make the decision to have the surgery. However, it's the best thing that I've done for myself in years. This time last year, I woke up disillusioned and resigned to the fact that I would always be overweight. I'm also happy that I found these boards. Just reading that there are people out there who have some of the same issues that I have, makes this journey easier. I can't stop smiling. I'm just happy this morning!

DeeberLee got a reaction from ProudGrammy in How did you learn about surgery
My sister had the surgery after a health scare. After talking with her and with her encouragement. I decided to have the sleeve after doing a lot of research on it. I try to be aware of everything I put in my mouth. Also I tell myself I never want to go backwards only forward.

The bariatric store has some great products. I really like the lemon Protein wafers. They have 15 G of protein per pack. I'll have a pack as a snack at the end of the day as a treat for myself. The maple oatmeal is good also and is also a good source of protein .

DeeberLee got a reaction from Frustr8 in Confronting the "mean girls"
Yesterday at work I overheard 2 of my co workers discussing my weight loss. I've known both of these ladies for awhile. Neither of them are over weight. We've even discussed weight loss issues and so forth. They do not know about my surgery, to me it's a personal issue. They were discussing how I could be losing weight so fast. I must have done "something." It kind of hurt my feelings. What difference does it make? I'm just trying to get healthy. Should I say something to them or not be so sensitive?

Hello, I'm in the health care profession . Presurgery I told myself I'm a patient not a nurse! As nurses we are used to taking care of others. Sometimes we need to let the caregiver role go and let others take care of us.

Good luck to you. It sounds like you're prepared. I definitely had an issue with the dry mouth and nausea.

Hi, my first day back to work is tomorrow. I took 2 weeks off. I actually feel great. The first week post surgery was a little rough. Other than that no issues.
