OTF! OTF! OTF! OTF! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!
I joined OTF when I was pre-op to lose the qualifying weight. Post-op, when I was cleared for exercise, I kept it up.
Two years later and OTF is basically the only exercise I do. I start my week "owing" 3 classes. Most weeks it 4 and if I can squeeze it in I do 5.
Hour long, coached classes that utilize treadmills, rowers, with free and body weight exercises. The "gimmick" is that everyone wears a HRM and you see what "zone" you are in throughout the class. The goal is to be in the "Orange Zone" (84% of your max heart rate) for at least 12 minutes cumulatively (called splat points).
For treadmill work everything is broken into paces for example Power Walker (incline), Jogger, Runner (speed) and the coaches guide you through that.
Now before you say "Oh I don't want everyone seeing my heart rate" let me say this, no one cares. I'm in 3-4 classes a week and I'm only looking a 1 number...mine. At the end of the class you see total # of calories burned, and splats (its also emailed to you)
For me, it works perfect. Classes are about an hour long, you are coached through everything but can work at your own pace. I need a defined time, with someone saying "ok do that, ok stop doing that, now do this". Then she I'm done, I'm done.
I started pre-op as a power walker maxing out at 3.9 mph and (at my starting weight) I'd burn 1000+ calories in an hour class. Now, 2 years in, I'm a runner most days and I can ALL-OUT at 10+ mph and I still burn between 650-850 cals per class.
Lastly, they are EVERYWHERE. I travel a lot for work and I can still get workouts almost anywhere in the US. Every studio uses the same template. They all feel the same, the only difference is the coaches.
Without context I know some of this is gibberish, but I can't say enough about how much I love OTF, I highly recommend it.

A lot of people on here recommend Smooth Move herbal tea. Supposed to really get the job done when you don't want to or can't take pills. I've seen it at my local store in the health department near the Vitamins.

That's awesome! It's so nice to hear a long-term success story to be reminded that it CAN work, but we have to want that more than our old habits. I'm not having surgery until next month but it's so nice to read your story. Thanks for sharing!

Shout out to my other November 21sters! My pre-op isn't until Nov 9th and my liquid diet starts after that, but they haven't mentioned no caffeine. I can live without it but I just got some yummy Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino latte mix and it has caffeine in it. I don't need the caffeine but I love the taste! I also ordered some Tespo powdered Multivitamins and those are great, but I think it's way more cost effective to just order the "to go" opener than the expensive machine that is rumored to break down easy. Getting nervous and excited as the days go by!

LOL, no, but I do know the song. It's been a nickname for over 25 years that was a combination of a few silly stories with friends and family. Since then one of my friend's entire family calls me Foo-foo and my little sister calls me Foof. So much that my nephews call me Auntie Foof and don't even know my real name!

The last time I was in the hospital my gallbladder surgery didn't go well and I woke up in the ICU, with a catheter. Didn't bother me at all but I wasn't moving around much. I'm female, but there wasn't any pain when they removed it, either. Now, my close friend just had RNY in September and she woke up with a catheter and they had wanted her to keep it in overnight, but as soon as they started trying to make her walk around she insisted they get that out of there. Sitting still, not so bad. Walking around, uncomfortable!

Nothing you do at this point is going to stop or help the hair that's falling out. That's because your body decided months ago that it was going to stop feeding that hair that's falling out now. The reason it's falling out now, is because new hair is pushing the old hair out. Google Telogen Effluvium. It's when something shocks your system (stress, surgery, stressful surgery, etc) and your body has Hair growth cycles, the surgery causes a much higher percentage of hair to go dormant than normal. So, when the "Grow" cycle starts up again, all of that "Rest" cycle hair, gets dumped. It's just a temporary change to your normal shedding cycle. Nothing you can do about it now except deal with it until everything grows back in properly.

@Foof76, every time I see your pen name I am reminded of my daughter's favorite child song " Little Rabbit Foo- Foo" is that where you got it? Silly song but still kind of fun.

That's awesome. I actually am 3 weeks. I thought I was 1 month and got my dates wrong. 1 month is next week.
Thank you, this will help me judge where to be. I only walk and not too fast yet. But I'm looking into doing more. Feeling better doesn't always mean we should do more... Really appreciate it.

A lot of people on here will tell you not to buy anything for post-op. I also live alone and knew I would be mostly taking care of myself so I did buy things beforehand. Honestly, I am glad I did because I'm not supposed to drive for this entire week after surgery. Although, I could have had friends pick things up for me afterwards I'm glad I haven't had to harass them with having them take me to the store. Plus I probably wouldn't have wanted to go food shopping this week. Things I bought include; broth, Protein Shakes, pudding, yogurt, and fairlife milk. I also bought quite a few things through this website. I highly reccomend the Protein hot chocolate.

Got single packets of all 15 flavors in this sample bag. Just tried my first one today, went with the pink grapefruit. Not bad, did taste a little like juice. Mixes up way smoother with a drink blender instead of a shaker cup if you have one. No sugar, no carb, very low calories when you mix with Water. It's a whey isolate Protein, supposed to be high quality and lactose free. I might try mixing some of the flavors with skim milk and ice, some of the videos I've watched say they taste a lot like a milkshake.

I've got a little bit longer than the rest of you since I'm right by Thanksgiving, but I already ordered the sample pack of Syntrax Nectar flavors so I can try them out and see what ones I like the best before my liquid diet, because it's too pricey to get big tubs of each of them! I've already tried some of the Premier Protein and that's a good one, too. Trying to get ready ahead of time so it won't but such a shock. My final pre-op meeting isn't until Nov 9, but my surgery was already approved! Now I'm just waiting on FMLA paperwork to come back in for work.

I'm on the Depo shot, have been for years because I can't have kids safely due to my heart condition. My surgical team hasn't batted an eye about it and hasn't mentioned any concerns about it being an issue later. I love the shot so much more than the pill. Haven't had a period in a few years and haven't missed her even for a minute!
