    October 2018 Sleevers

Hi Everybody, I actually started this thread. I'm still overwhelmed by how the majority of posts are so sharing and supportive. I'm 7 weeks post-op (10/23) and overall pleased with my progress. I'm down 38 lbs since starting the process, 26 since surgery. (Want to loose another 50 or so...) I stall for a few days, then start to loose again. I've joined a health club and employed a personal trainer. The exercise makes a big difference! I'm back on caffeine (1/2 a cup of cold brew) and a glass or two of wine. Just nothing bubbly (only made that mistake once). Try to focus on protein when I eat and have no interest in snacking or sweets (make me feel really gross). Already feel so much better in my own body. Can't wait to hit the beach on vacation in January!

Day 3 post-op, surgery was Tuesday 10/23. Made it home yesterday afternoon after two days in the hospital. Pain is manageable on meds, but definitely there. Getting liquids in. Seems to get easier every day/hour. Have not seen any weight loss so far -- feel too bloated to even think it's possible right now. Trying not to be discouraged. My parents have been doing such a wonderful job taking care of me. It's nice not to feel alone in this. This thread has been of great encouragement. Thank you all for being here and being here for each other.

We've got this gang! So wonderful to have such a community to rely on! My surgery has been moved, one day, to 10/23. I've announced my medical leave at work (although I just said major surgery, not gastric sleeve. I think they all think I'm getting a hysterectomy!) Coffee and sodas are long gone. Start the (mainly) liquid diet on Oct 8, but have been substituting in protein shakes at breakfast already. We'll see. Giving up wine 10/1. It's so heartening to read your posts and to feel like we're in this together!

@br3n I work in at an office job as well. Doctors told me at least 2 weeks, possibly longer, so I'm trying to make a plan for 4. Maybe I'll be stir crazy by 5 days! On the other had, having 4 weeks off doesn't sound like a bad thing either :-) In terms of preparation I'm walking 1/2 hour almost ever day. There are still some bad habits to eliminate, but I've got a time frame for those, too. I got my first bad reaction to the surgery from my father-in-law. Trying to let is slide but the judgementalism is hard.

Overall, I guess I'm excited more than scared. I figure I've had two babies -- one by c section -- so I got this (albeit that was a long time ago!) It's the waiting that is getting to me. Not even time yet for the pre-surgery two week diet. What to do? I've eliminated carbonated drinks, I've eliminated caffeine, I'm drinking tons of water, I'm not even all that into eating right now. There was a great thread about how to handle things at work -- I plan to tell my boss next week and have a plan for coverage for up to the four weeks they say to plan on being out. I'm shy of being too open about what I'm doing, but then again feel I should set an example and be transparent. Hoping my support system doesn't waver as we wait...
  7. Got my surgery date: October 22, 2018....and now the wait... Would love to gather a cohort here to go through this with!!!
