    over a year out

Great transformation! WLS is life changing.
  2. The topic of the Psych Eval comes up frequently in this group. What you did is a perfect example of what I suggest people don't do. I'm sure a lot of people disagree with me when I suggest that you should tell them what they want to hear so you can move forward with the surgery. I've seen a lot of people on here in the same situation as you. Postponed or even denied WLS because of what seemed at the time to be a harmless thought is not uncommon. I always suggest if a person wants to do some soul searching and dig up some bones from the past, find a therapist aside from the WLS hoops you have to jump through. As you found out, it only proves to be self sabotaging. If I were you, I would find out if you can go to another clinic for a second opinion and limit your answers to yes and no. Good luck.

Total Stall at 2 months post op

There's probably a good reason but what kind of job do you have that doesn't allow you to drink water? Just curious.

    Bloody Urine

Yo better call your Dr. if the color isn't on the pee chart.
  5. My sister-in-law had the gastric bypass over a decade ago and can eat and drink the same things as she did before surgery. The amount she can consume in one sitting is limited and with RNY you also have the added benefit of malabsorption. People do find ways to gain their weight back even with RNY so the psychological conditioning has to be there as well. You will read on this and other support forums that WLS is just a tool and that has to be the mindset going into this. With all that said, I think it's an awesome tool and can help a lot of people from going down the slippery slope of obesity. I'm 51 years old and have always been active (almost hyper LOL) and it got to a point where my body hurt so bad from the weight that I became more sedentary and that snowballed my weight. I admire people that take action at a young age before the damage becomes irreversible.
  6. The best way to determine if WLS is a better choice for you than loosing the weight by dieting is to ask yourself, can I keep the weight off long term with just will power. WLS is a tool for those of us that answer no to that question. The goal for most people is to live a long life with as little discomfort and illness as possible. I personally use food as a coping mechanism for what ever stresses me out or depresses me etc. I know without this drastic measure (WLS) I decided to take, I wouldn't live as long. WLS for me was just a tool to help me deal with otherwise self destructive behavior. It's best if you can take measures early to prevent long term damage to your health. Good luck with your decision.

    Intimacy

As long as there's now swinging from the chandeliers, I think 2 weeks should be a long enough wait. Take it easy and no hand stands for at least a month.
  8. Thanks for sharing. Good to know. I hope you make a speedy recovery.

    Frustrated

    What surgery did you have?

    Did you lose shoe sizes?

It amazes me how nothing fits after awhile. I even went down a hat size. Crazy and exciting at the same time.
  11. You should be OK. I had my bypass done mid December and had a sinus infection and a slight cough. I think as long as you don't have the flu, they will move forward with your surgery as planned. It's those contagious viruses that they are concerned with. They have a tendency to weaken your immune system to a dangerous level and then there's the whole "make everyone else sick that comes around you" aspect.

    Insecure

You're not giving up on yourself, you're saving your life. Your life is going to change big time and that takes people in your life out of their comfort zone. Do this for yourself and those that want you to be around as long as possible. My grandfather smoked like a chimney and died early and it had a big affect on me. I wish he could've had surgery to stop and greatly reverse the effects smoking had on his body before it was too late. The conventional way to quit didn't work for him because smoking was a coping mechanism he couldn't abandon. Obesity kills just like any other unhealthy vise.
  13. I was sick on the day of my surgery and they said it doesn't stop the surgery. Actually, whatever antibiotics they gave me kicked butt on the sinus infection/cold I had.
  14. I like this stuff. It works well if you mix it in a few ounces of warm water with a fork as directed. You just add it to what ever cold or hot liquid after that and you can't hardly notice it's there.
  15. Don't worry about anything at this point except water. Just keep sipping water all day. Dehydration is the #1 reason for ER visits directly after WLS. Your body has enough reserves to keep itself going for a long time without consuming protein. That will get easier as time goes by. You're not failing, what you're experiencing is completely normal. You got this!
  16. I've been trying to avoid carbs and was surprised the other day when I went to see my Nut and she said to start eating pitted fruits like peaches. I guess I will in moderation to keep things regular. She knows better than I.
  17. These are the best value I've found. They're 40 grams of protein and you can cut them 50% with water and still get 20 grams a pop. I buy them from Amazon.

    Sleeve to Gastric Bypass

My surgeon tries hard to convince his patients to go directly with the gastric bypass because of it's long term success and proven history. It's been around longer than any other WLS procedure. That's what convinced me. I only wanted to do this once. The fact that people that never before had a problem with GERD started suffering with it after the sleeve and had to revise to RNY was another thing that helped me decide. I went back and forth for awhile because there does seem to be pros and cons with both surgeries. Good luck with your choice.

    Tummy

I can feel it and hear it go all the way down. I think it's kind of cool.
  20. Good stuff! You definitely have the right mindset. You more than anyone else on here always make me want to use the old cut and paste function. LOL

    So far so good

It sounds like you are doing it right. You will feel pain if you are drinking too fast. Water goes right through the pouch and into your intestine pretty quick so if you are sipping back to back you are getting lots of water in and that makes everything work better. Drink water and take short walks frequently and you will make a perfect recovery. I still haven't got the eating part down but I get my protein in.

    Weird Weight loss places?

I'm the same way with eating. It's hit and miss with what will stay down. I can see why they call the first 6 months the honeymoon period. I'm definitely learning volume control. As the weight comes off, I've noticed it hurts when I bump into stuff. I think the fact that I can't sit for too long or my tailbone will start hurting helps change my old sedentary habits of the past.

    Nicotine blood test

You should be good according to what I've heard. Good job!
  24. I have to stay around 600 - 800 calories per day until my 6 month check up. It's not much of a challenge because I'm never hungry. I think the first 6 months is when your best weight loss takes place. You have awhile before you have to really start looking at calories. At least that's what I was told.
