    September bypass buddies??

@stiney358 I tried chicken earlier and was able to pass my protein goal ! It worked out much better than seafood

    September bypass buddies??

Applesauce works for me. All of my delicious sf popsicles now taste gross to me. I’m afraid to see what else I don’t like when I’m on regular food smh

@MissPoodle, what happens when you drink the protein shakes? I just outright gag..can’t do it. I was fine preop😞

    September bypass buddies??

I just ate two stale saltines. I’m so nauseous. Preop I would eat a pickle or something salt and vinegar flavored. Of course the clear pops are a no go. Nothing appeals to me, I went inside the grocery store earlier and had to cover my nose. Name a food for the purée and liquid stage and I guarantee I’ve tried it , liked it once and eventually no longer liked it. I want to take another shot at tuna with miracle whip instead of Greek yogurt. Maybe add a finely smushed egg? I’m nervous because the thought of ANY seafood makes me 🤢. So maybe I should try a couple of spoonfuls of Wendy’s chili and pray.
  5. 3 weeks post and my intake of everything is so low that I started eating pedialyte popsicles. The sf popsicles taste gross to me now. I couldn’t even finish one yesterday. Darn changing taste buds. I’m on purées but I don’t want anything 🤢🤢🤢. SW:304 CW:275
  6. The thought of food makes me want to 🤢 sometimes. I barely eat once a day because I’m not hungry and I’m still getting used to forcing myself to eat. I need to try to hit my protein goal and even though I have over 10 shakes on hand I can only really deal with 3 of them. Looks like I’ll have to buy more shakes because I’m just not getting anything in smh

Is stage two full liquids for you? So you’re currently on purées right? I hear Wendy’s chili is good on our pouches , just don’t add the spice packets. It’s very mild chili without the spice packets. I just wasn’t sure if the chili counted as a purée or soft food. I was constipated for around a week and I ended up mixing up a mini bowel prep in a bottle of Gatorade. Diarrhea within one hour 😂. I lost 20 after a week and I’m sure that is because I don’t eat much of anything and I burn off more calories than I eat smh.

    September bypass buddies??

Strained cream of potato made me dump terribly, strained cream of chicken and mushroom tasted good at first and then 🤢. I’ve had the best luck with egg drop soup (the egg pieces are tiny). I can not hit my protein when everything makes me want to gag smh. Thank you, I’m trying to stay strong but the idea of watery refried beans sounds amazing right now 😭. Luckily for me I have to take my morning bunch of pills so no food yet

    September bypass buddies??

Confession: I don’t really eat much post op. Everything tastes too sweet to me including my yogurt. If it’s not too sweet then my tongue just doesn’t like it. I’m beyond ready for purée food. I’m going crazy 😭😭😭😭😭

    September bypass buddies??

Surgery was Monday. It went well,no surprises or complications, and my liver was fine. I stayed two nights at the hospital because my first day post op (yesterday) was painful and full of nausea. I couldn’t even touch my full liquid lunch or dinner yesterday. I feel better today (especially since I’m home). My complaint is that my belly feels gassy but I barely pass gas. Very uncomfortable. They gave me an abdominal binder this morning for support and it did help me walk around the floor better. I ate a sf pudding cup earlier instead of measuring out one ounce portions and OMG I was so full 😭. Lesson learned: SLOW DOWN AND MEASURE.

    September bypass buddies??

I had my last appointment with the surgeon yesterday, all of my prescriptions for post op will be ready today. 5 days till bypass and I’m definitely nervous. My bag is packed so all I really have to do is buy food/beverages for post op.

    Secret sleevers?

I work in a pharmacy inside of a grocery store so my fellow pharmacy techs and my pharmacists know. I didn’t have to tell them but I felt comfortable enough to share with them. I cleaned up my friends list on FB so when I got a surgery date I made a post about my journey so far. I waited well over a year after I met my surgeon to tell most people about my journey (6 days till surgery). In the past I was very vocal about being a 300lb half marathoner. So far I’ve received nothing but support with my RnY journey.

    How old were you when?

I started the process to have bariatric surgery last year when I was 23, I’ll be 24 on surgery day. Surgery was my last option, I was sold on it after a younger friend who also has PCOS experienced success with the sleeve. Honestly I finally became fed up, I shouldn’t feel this bad at this age smh. Had I known how difficult losing weight would be for me I would have pursued surgery when I was 21/22.
  15. Prayers for everyone joining the bench today!

    September bypass buddies??

13 days away from surgery and I’m definitely feeling nervous. I’ve read and re-read all of the information booklets from the hospital almost daily. I’ve watched a ton of YouTube videos and I’m looking through my weight loss surgery for dummies book. I’m ready for 9/17, the wait is making me anxious.
  17. No but I just cleaned out my closet and drawers and decided to keep a couple of items that I can’t fit..yet.

What are y’all packing in your hospital bag? I’m trying to make sure I’m on the right track lol.
  19. @Frustr8 I’m supposed to be practicing starting now, I did a couple of times. I drink two bottles of Ensure 12hrs before surgery, then one more 3hrs before. I love that we get stuff! I’ll be getting prescriptions for a blood thinner, ulcer prevention , pain reliever, anti anxiety, and gallstone prevention when I see the surgeon on the 11th. I don’t know what to pack! I’m excited for you ! 🙂
  20. @TX4everLinds I had a chest X-ray, EKG, pregnancy test , health history, quick exam , and blood draw today. I’m 24 btw, it’s standard with this program.
  21. To (hopefully) avoid any hiccups with ordering smaller portions or off of the kids menu at restaurants. Well I met the bariatric nurse navigator today and she gave me the pre op goodies (ensure, hibiclens, incentive spirometer) and gave me a rundown of the what to expect during the last two days of preop and the hospital stay. I also met with the dietician and we went over pre op nutrition, and the first two weeks of post op nutrition. I’ll see her again on surgery day and two weeks after that for another nutrition class. No they didn’t draw from my wrist, they poked me 4 times (I’m a hard stick and I was probably dehydrated). They used a syringe on the 4th poke. How do you feel?!

    September bypass buddies??

So I had 5 hours of pre admission testing today and I had most of my questions answered. I received a dine out / medical alert card, my incentive spirometer, my Hibiclens and Cleansing cloths, and my pre-surgery ensure drinks. The program emphasizes using whey protein isolate (which I learned today that I don’t have-oops lol). I bought an Unjury protein starter kit, and 2 flavors of powder to make protein powder. Everything is pictured (two of each powder flavor, thermometer, shaker bottle, one vanilla shake, and one chocolate shake). I was not given a pre op diet. Basically from now on I NEED to hit my water intake goal, walk daily, and eat protein, veggies, watch my sugar, and watch my carbs. I’ll use my protein powder (not isolate) as a meal replacement option pre op as well. I’m almost done! Next appointment is with the surgeon 6 days before my surgery. RnY scheduled for 9/17/18

    Insurance approval

It took my surgeon’s office nearly a month to submit to insurance smh. About a week after they submitted my file I received a call to pay my copay for the surgeon’s fee to proceed with scheduling my surgery.
