batty_vsg got a reaction from kjuno in December 2018 Sleevers!
Oh, it could be! I didn't even think of that. If it gets worse, I'll be worried about it, but I just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing it.

I didn't get a chance to post on here before the surgery, but yaaaaay! XOXOXOXO

I came home about 5:30 PM last night.
I'm not going to lie, my surgery was pretty painful. I woke up to recovery in quite a bit of pain and confusion (pretty normal) and my back was K I L L I N G me because I had been laying on it for about 5 hours at that point. It took them awhile to find a room for me. I had mild gas pains, just enough to be annoying - but as soon I was able to, I was up and walking. My hospital stay was plagued with annoyances. I like to sleep on my stomach, but couldn't. I was hooked up to three different IVs so maneuvering and using the bathroom was difficult.
I've been dealing with a little bit of nausea at this point and it hurts to stand up straight. I couldn't really down the Protein Shake they gave me at the hospital, but I have a lot of options at home. They provided me with chicken broth but I couldn't stand the smell. The only time I "threw up" was when they tried to give me liquid pain medication.
Right now I'm sipping on Water and it's going down well enough.

I did have some instances of, "Why did I do this to myself?" But I've been trying to talk myself down from it.

I post-op day 2 as well and thankfully my stomach is tolerating Water. Actually, ice-cold water sounds SO good to me right now. But do whatever you can do get liquids in - dehydration is no-bueno.

My girl pulls a little, but she's only 18lbs so it's not a whole lot of force. We'll take it nice and slow!

True! I incubated the cold I had for a few days, while stomach flu viruses are definitely the cheetahs of the virus world. If you're hurling and having bowel problems, they'd probably reschedule. But a question, are you sure its a stomach virus or maybe something he ate?

    Hello everyone!
I was approved a few days ago (after only waiting a week) and received my surgery date for December 12, 2018! I chose this date out of the few offered to me because I am currently in college and I will be able to finish up my classes prior to the surgery (which was a huge worry of mine.) It's about two weeks before my birthday too!
Anyone else scheduled out in December?

I think poopin and hurling is a completely different animal and the incubation can be as short as 24 hours of some things like that. No way would they let you have surgery while actively spewin cuz it would be so dangerous. But the mask gloves etc is a great idea!!!

Like we've been talking about, the surgeon's nurse said that they will still operate on me if I had a cold if I didn't have a fever and I wasn't coughing up anything nasty. While I am not sure you would get sick right away, there is definitely a chance you could be sick post-op.
Any chance you can pick up some disinfecting wipes on the way home and clean E V E R Y T H I N G. Even get a face mask while you're going to town on cleaning everything.

Seconding this. Even the mild sugar alcohols cause me to have a reaction. The only artificial sugar that I do not have an issue with is Splenda.

Also, hey guys. Did anyone else not lose a whole bunch of weight during the pre-op diet? I've been following it pretty well and the weight loss has been about 5 lbs (like, I had some honey for a few days to help soothe this sore throat/tickly cough I've been having for the last few days.) Granted, I AM short (5'1") and so the caloric deficit that I'm currently at isn't the worst in the world.

Yeah, this post-op diet doesn't give me a whole lot of energy but I'm dealing. I am just really grumpy at everything. I'm (slowly) getting over a cold, so there's that too.

Bone Broth has a really weird taste to me. I hope maybe post-surgery I'll like it!

I was allowed to have vegetables (non-starchy) and 4oz of Protein on top of my two shakes a day.
With that said, I think the reduction in calories set up my immune system to be compromised and is one of the reasons why I got sick.
In the meantime, during my pre-op, I suffered from pretty gnarly nausea. . . and just feeling under the weather. Some chicken broth (like the above post) will help out a lot. Also, lots of sleep if you can manage it.

I really want to thank those who took the time to say those awesome words to me. We always end up being our worst critics right? But, for once, I'm doing something for me. Not my family, not my friends - for me.
