RSMKEM got a reaction from MaybeMeow in BYPASS-ERS tell me your success stories!
I’m just over a year out from bypass surgery and I feel stronger and more alive than I have in years! My BMI is down to 26 from a high of 47. I’ve taken my Vitamins as directed along with following my surgeon’s program and all my recent labs came back great. My only regret is that I didn’t do this sooner. Before I sound too much like a commercial for bypass, I have to say that there were times when it was HARD but any struggle that I’ve had so far is still definitely worth it to me. Talk to your surgeon and the doctor who takes care of your facial nerve pain about alternatives to using Motrin as that will no longer be an option after bypass. Best of luck to you as you make your decision!

No, I’m sorry it doesn’t. Crying out for help involves wanting help, I don’t think you want help. You’ve declared many, many times in many many ways on this forum how unhappy you are, how much you regret having surgery and how somehow after a whole 2 months you’ve decided that it didn’t work.
We get it, you hate it, you seem to enjoy complaining rather than listening to people who take the time, effort and their personal experiences to try and help you. You self declared/diagnosed that this surgery didn’t work for you. You believe that 2 months and 14 pounds later.
*The surgery is working, you’re just uncomfortable.
Someone mentioned therapy earlier to you and your response was something like: “That would be like spitting in the wind” (not verbatim)
Why are you spitting in the wind here?
There are a lot of people that had their surgeries canceled due to Covid, are heartbroken and would trade places with you in a heartbeat.
You gave up from the start. You don’t need permission or an excuse to fail at this, and you certainly won’t get it here.

I’m confused why you are posting. If the surgery doesn’t help you and you want to throw in the towel nobody is stopping you.

People are trying to help you but you already have it figured out.

    Best of luck.

Yikes! So sorry, but you "gotta" breakup with fast acting carbs...BP has some pretty great tasting low carb Cereal so I've heard.

    1. I had the Loop Duodenal Switch surgery, but it involves a sleeved stomach... I lost 23 pounds the first month. And I generally lose between 3-4 pounds a week with a rare exception for slightly more, though sometimes under. I'm unsure monthly, since it's only been two and a half months since my surgery...
    2. No. I'm not allowed to have bacon per my surgeons guidelines, for now. I can't have sausage via my nutritionists guidelines. And although I CAN have ham, I don't eat it for breakfast. I'm having it for easter lunch though...
    3. I haven't cheated once since my surgery. I did this surgery for a reason, why the hell would I destroy that for some momentary satisfaction that will make me feel so much worse after the fact? My family hasn't changed their diet. They still eat pizza, popcorn, cake, Cookies, ice cream, etc. But I have the willpower to say no, I'm not going to destroy how far I've come because I want something that'll make me feel like crap about myself after the fact. I've lost 114 pounds in the last 10 months since I started my weight loss journey. Fifty pounds of that since my surgery and sixty-four prior to the surgery. I'm proud of myself for how far I've come and I won't destroy that. So no, I haven't cheated.
Yes, there are times that it's really hard, but you just have to remind yourself that you are doing this for a reason! My reason was because I wanted to watch my nieces grow up. And, last week I found out my sister is pregnant again, so now I have ANOTHER reason to keep pushing to lose this weight and get myself healthier. I admit, it's a struggle at times, but it'll be WORTH it in the end!

I had RNY rather than VSG, but 22 lbs down is about where I was at that point, and I also started out at over 300 lbs.
there are so many factors that influence your rate of weight loss, and most of them are out of your control (age, gender, metabolic rate, starting BMI). The only thing you DO have a lot of control over is commitment to your clinic's plan.
At almost five years out, I can't eat a lot in the way of fatty meat like bacon and sausage because it makes me feel like crap. I can have a piece now and then, but that's about it. I don't think I ate anything like that the first year or so post-op. I usually ate Greek yogurt for breakfast - but I know you said you're tired of that.
some people eat non-breakfast foods for breakfast, like chicken breast or deli turkey slices with a cheese stick or something along those lines.

LOL, so I think it's likely you are an inflammatory person set on trolling here by causing drama. You have less than 10 posts and the first time I see you, you are posting a post set for drama. LOL. I could care less that you had an opportunity to live a new life with a spanking new second chance and yet, you're cherry picking the rules our surgeons give us that are based on best practices from the ASMBS for our tools. And you're essentially giving your second chance the great big old middle finger salute.
Way to work it, dude! Waves up. Enjoy!

    NO NO NO-
None of you are hungry! You are addicted to food like everyone else on this site! You are bored and you head is playing games with you. You do not need to eat and consume non stop.
We all had to get thru this phase! You are in the head game stage and you are not hungry! You head is tricking you to think you are hungry. Your nerves and sensors were cut out. So how the heck are you getting hunger pains when you only have a 4 oz pouch. Tv marketing and packaging is everywhere. There are so much more things in life then a box of Cookies or chips. However all of us addicts are caught in the food industry nightmare@
Ok now that i attacked you ---- You guys got this ,,,,,,,Change focus from food to something else. Slowly you need to sip something to get your mind tricked to think your not hungry. This is a b***h to do! I crashed and crashed big time The post is here way back. I was saved but my key was a puppy! Yes a lab puppy. I started focusing on him and training him and walking him and getting my abusive behavior towards food and vodka Under control. I also have chosen to Fish a ton and Travel a ton.
You guys do the same - Mix up you life. The old life sucked you were out of control with food and unhealthy. Now its time to change. Look up Fluffy Chick here and she has great posts on changing you lifestyle. Find something new to add to your life, hobbies, craft, outdoors, Partners, Pets, movies, Like Nike JUST DO IT!

I would talk to your OB/GYN and your surgeon about that issue. None of us are qualified to discuss medicines safe for a baby on board situation. Sorry your tummy is burning, but glad the urps and nausea is leaving! Congrats on 9 weeks!

RSMKEM got a reaction from RainbowBrite57 in Confused and Depressed
I started out at 263. I was so pumped up with fluids and constipated that I did not really start losing until week 3! At 7 days, i was only down 6 lbs. I am now at month 11 and have lost exactly 100 pounds. Don’t give up hope!! Just keep doing what you’re doing and it will happen. I totally understand where you’re coming from. There have been so many times that I kept thinking that it’s not working or it has stopped working but since I’ve been sticking with my plan, the weight is still coming off.

I understand that you’re hesitant to take your PPI every day. I am a pharmacist and just wanted to point out that PPIs are not effective when only taken a few times per week. You’re literally wasting your money taking them that way. When you see your doctor, make sure to bring your concerns up so that together, you can find a medication regimen that you are comfortable with. Best of luck and I hope you find relief soon!

I can't add anything better than what everyone has already said so well! We are all rooting for you.

If you’re not taking your PPI every day, it cannot be effective. If you’re only taking it a few times per week, that’s not necessarily being conservative - you’re not giving it a chance to work properly.

RSMKEM got a reaction from catwoman7 in Anyone else NOT have a pre-op diet?? Mine is day before only. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Like Rick mentioned above, my surgeon’s office has all of the usual requirements leading up to surgery, but no pre-op diet. The explanation was the same - they wanted me to be as strong as possible leading up to surgery.

That being said, there are so many different approaches/plans from surgeon to surgeon that I think people should stick to what they’ve been instructed to do (not trying to imply that you won’t - just a general observation).

Best of luck with your surgery!
