  1. If you are worried about looses skin you can always have plastics. Some insurance company help cover if you have documented rashes or mobility issues. I was 45 yrs day of surgery (now 50yrs). I just wanted to have my health back. There are far worse things in life besides loose skin. Prepare yourself look up photos for worst case and best case scenarios. My loose skin is livable for me. Photo below.
  2. Make sure you are at a healthy BMI and not underweight. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/obesity/in-depth/bmi-calculator/itt-20084938. Talk to your surgeons team about what foods/calorie range to eat to gain weight. Try to eat five or more small meals a day. This may help to raise calories without feeling sick.

    Ankle Weights

It's great for resistance. Bundle up stay warm
  6. Remind yourself you are at 164. You are at a healthy weight. If you choose to goto 145 you are still at a healthy BMI. Find a weight that you feel comfortable to maintain. Most people don't know what a healthy BMI looks like. People may give you comments that are less than helpful Some comments you may hear, (even at a healthy BMI) "Stop losing weight" "Your too thin" "do you have cancer?" Weight loss comments and compliments will stop after your weight settles. This is the point body image may be easier to deal with. It's a great feeling when people just accept this is you. Life becomes more normal.
  7. Glad you posted. It will help prepare others as they get closer to goal. It's strange to experience this for yourself, Right?
  8. Fantastic work getting to goal. Celebrate big! Your not alone. It takes time for your mind to catch up because your weight loss is so rapid. Some of us have a distorted body image. It may take some work to see your reflection/size correctly. After I got to goal, a vet gave me some things to try. Place a current photo of yourself your bathroom mirror. Look at it as you are getting ready for the day. This may sound ridiculous, Go out in a public place with a friend. Have them give you examples of people that share your weight and body type. It's not that you are judging and pointing at people (please don't do that) Its to wrap your mind around your new size. For some, it may become body dysmorphia. Counseling/therapy is a great option. Give it time. Your mind should catch up. Your reflection will become normal.

    Liquid amounts question ?

Your stomach is smaller, no need eat or drink large amounts all at once. You can spread them out. My instructions: Hit my protein goal 60-100g each day. Hydration requirement - Drink 64 oz of fluids in small amounts throughout the day. Don't drink with meals.
  10. We all lose at different rates. Age, medical issues, body physiology, and medications can be factors. I would have been fine if I lost in in a year or more. How? I have the sleeve. I did not expect fast weight loss. I followed my surgeons plan. I logged my food, Hit my calories/macros and exercised. Exercise Routine? first months walking. Third month I stalled and started a gym membership. I did elliptical and a bit of weight lifting 5/6 days a week. Increased intensity/resistance on cardio machines. Fifth month Took a women's strength training class (It was a game changer) Took up distance running.

    Hunger Pains

My hunger is nothing like pre surgery. It's more manageable for me post surgery. You may want to call your office to rule out a medical issue. Are you on real food stage yet? How often are you eating meals?

    Pouch test

https://store.bariatricpal.com/pages/pouch-reset-plan Only my opinion. It's more of a pouch reset. It's starting back to the food progresion. It's a way to get back into lower calories and eating healthy if your off track. Some say they feel their surgery restriction more and it helped. For others going back to liquids was too restrictive and they went off plan. Wouldn't hurt to try it out.

    Food Exposed - Rant

I like the store owners explanation. The waste is built into the system. We overproduce to keep prices down. If we spread the wealth of food in the states, the corporations would lose money. It's about the money.

    Calories for maintenance

Six months is not the norm. I was not expecting to get to goal this quickly either. I would have been just as happy if it took me a year or more. Never thought about what it would be like to stop weight loss. It was something my team did not touch on much. Most things are weight loss related. Great to have support here to go into maintenance. It's kind of a chore to up you calories when you are used to 700/900. It will get easier with time.

    Calories for maintenance

@Losing the old Harley Woah !!!!.......700 to 900 is weight loss mode calorie, No wonder you couldn't stop losing weight. Glad your moving your calories up. Hope you get to your sweet spot soon. how long did it take trial and error to find that “sweet spot” where you didn’t gain nor lose? Can't remember how long it took. I just remember is was frustrating. i wished it was a magical set calorie and macros for all of us..Just takes fine tuning. I'm female 5'5" Maintaining for me is staying with in a ten pound bounce range. If the scale moves up I change my calories and macros to bring it back down. I eat mainly healthy but, I like having the freedom to choose when to indulge and live life. How many calories do you need to consume to be able to maintain? I'm at 1000/ 1100 to lose weight. I can eat 1300/1500 maintaining. Distance running/ carb load for seven days - around 2300/3000 calories.( Takes many small meals) How long have you maintained for? four years. How long PO were you when you had to move into a maintenance routine? I got to goal 140 in six months. After goal I dropped to 125. I like to maintain in the 130's It's where I feel healthy.
  19. No judgement here. I'm sorry to hear about all your struggles. I agree with @Ed_NW. You may want to look at all the other types of bariatric surgery options. Talk it over with your surgeon. Do what's best for you and your health.

    Egg vs egg whites

@lorraine#11 Concentrate on getting your protein in. Introduce your food stages slowly. Shakes and then try a bit of egg white. It's trail and error to see what sits ok with your sleeve. Months out your food tolerance will change again. You got this!

Something I read really irritated me...

Celebrities Ugh Why do we even care about their opinions in life. These people are told what to say by publicist. Many say they didn't have WLS but they did. Even if they did it the old fashioned way its ok. We all have our own issues...Right? Only thing that matters is you and the people you love. BTW We do have a rants and rage section on this site.

    Coffee?

Each surgeons instruction may look different and may change over the years. I was instructed not to have coffee in 2014. Now my surgeon's office allows it. Stop drinking it if it causes acid or upset stomach. Don't count your coffee as hydration for the day. Make sure you can drink your hydration requirement. Do you know what your hydration goal is? I think mine was 64 oz a day.

    Mindful Eating Help

Much of WLS is behavior/habit change. It takes practice. You will overcome eating fast. I had the same concern. Pre surgery, I inhaled my food and never had a real sensation of full until I was over stuffed. What I noticed after surgery, If you eat fast, your new stomach will let you know. You will have a new sensation of full after much smaller meals. food does not have control over me. I'm so thankful for that.
