I kind of agree with the gentleman at your meeting. Now, I will say, I don't know how he's able to tolerate all that meat so early, but I agree with him about depriving himself. I also allow myself to have certain things that other people who have had this surgery wouldn't dare have. I eat chocolate daily. It's something that I really enjoy. Now, I don't overindulge in it, but I do have a bit every day, and I make sure to track it.

I've dieted for a large portion of my life, and what's always happened before is that I'm really strict, then I'll allow myself to have a little something on special occasions, then I get completely derailed and can't get back on track. Well, this time is different. I don't count anything as getting off track really. This is a lifestyle change; it's not a diet. I choose to primarily eat healthy, but every now and then, I eat things that aren't necessarily good for me. This is how I plan to keep this going for the long term.

    I love this!!! :780_sparkling_heart:

And look at you!!!! You are doing freaking amazing!!!!

My number one issue so far.. at 6 weeks post op, just started recently as i am adding new food to the plan and can now eat real foods. My issue and struggle is the time between bites. I tend to eat bite after bite and then by bite 3.. i cannot handle anymore. I have counted the bites before swallowing, and somebody recommended on one of the threads the bariastic app.. I have tried that and the timer is for chewing. I have a timer on my phone and could resort to that also. Most of the time when at work i am fine because i dont ever actually take a lunch break. I eat while working and so that helps to space out the bites. My issue is more when i am home. I sit down at the table to eat. So unless i dont do meal time and do something while having dinner.. i still eat too fast. Tonight i was here.. LOL Posting while I ate my Real Good snack Pizza.. so it was ok.. But i am looking for other ideas because if there are people around or i am in a restaurant it can be rude to constantly be on your phone or not paying attention to the people you are around. Most people in the resturant setting, eat, eat, eat LOL.

This happened the other night when i went to dinner with my daughter and her new boyfriend. ( It was meet the boyfriend time) and after 3 bites (real small ones ) of the grilled chicken, i was done.. could not eat anymore. I know i will need to start to up my calories, but if i am struggling to get in 2 to 3 ounces of protein.. then how am i ever gonna get to the veggies LOL..

Anyways.. I am brainstorming here to see what i can come up with. It may take me a week or so to figure this out.. each stage seems to do that.. by the time you figure it out.. you are on to the next one lol

AnyAll suggestions and Ideas are welcomed.

    Thanks

This is so me right now! My sister and wife both say I'm 3 bites and done. I know its because I am doing too big of bites, not chewing enough and then eating too fast. Its so hard for me to change this bc everyone I'm around eats super fast and here I am like well hell. So 3 bites and done! I am going to follow this to see recommendations as well! :)

Does anyone regret having this surgery? Be honest, if so and why? Just want to know what others are going through before I commit.

No. No regrets. There are times I'm like OHMYGAWD I just want to go out to eat w/ my wife and be normal ya know buttttt. Then I look at my progress and I'm like no. I'll take this 3 bite and done thing over feeling sluggish all day and zero energy. It'll be hard at first and I think everyone goes the buyers remorse so to say lol. However the end results are well worth the hard times. :)

I'm really worried that I went through all of this for nothing. I had surgery at the end of Nov., had a nice weight loss of about 25 lbs and now it has stopped. Nothing for weeks. I eat so little, cottage cheese and fruit for Breakfast, veggies for lunch, fish for dinner-this is very discouraging.

I had my surgery Oct 25,2018. I have had a TON of stalls. It can be so discouraging at time however I just keep focusing on the end game ya know. I've asked the same question you asked, have I done this for nothing???? But then I'll loose 7llbs and I'm like o wow....ok. So. Just keep pushing love you got this. Everyone's body is different and responds to all of this differently! Also....25lbs in a month?!? Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! :780_sparkling_heart:

I am absolutely torturing myself this weekend. I'm 7.5 weeks out and all I can think about is food since Friday. I keep thinking I'm genuinely hungry because I swear I can feel it in my stomach, but when I eat my stomach lets me know that I am done... but I can't. stop. thinking. about food. The worst part is that I'm trying to write a big paper for my grad class that's due soon so I'm basically just alone with my thoughts and not able to keep myself busy otherwise. I'm drinking extra Water and trying to ignore my thoughts but it isn't helping.

I really just needed to b*tch and moan a bit. Hopefully someone out there can understand/commiserate.

I can completely relate to this!

Unfortunately I've given into my hunger and I feel like ...a...piece...of.....poop. I ate chips (not a lot but I ate em) and I ate this toaster thingy (full of carbs and sugar) and then this morning my sister comes to me w/ a lemon filled donut which is my absolute favorite.!!! And guess what? Yea. I ate it. Now Idk about anyone else but I struggle to get Protein down but the bad stuff. Carbs? candy? DONUTS!!!!???? Yea. For some reason I can eat them and I don't get that stuck in my throat feeling as I do when I eat healthy. Which I find....rude LOL. Why ???? lol. Anywho. Back to you... :) Yes! I can understand. And It is a struggle bus over here as well!!!!! But. Its a new day. And I know I can do it. You can too B)

I didn't have a 'honeymoon' year one, in all honesty, it's been fighting tooth and nail in this first year. My weight has been in the low 190's high 180s for a long time, 6 months too long. But, we can be our own worst enemy or best ally. I think we are doing a bang up job! Some lose weight quicker than others, I look at it this way. We are slower yes, but it further solidifies good habits in place. I have been moving in a smaller size but same weight direction. Inch loss, so heck to the yes we rock! I rock! If anyone would like accountability please PM me or let's perhaps start a thread or something. I've not been in this size and weight range for 12 years!

I needed this. I'm 6 weeks post op. I'm loosing very slowly. I could give a bazillion reasons why I think I am but hey lets be honest, God made us different, So. Lol. But Anywho. I am my own worst enemy most days. Accountability yes! How do I PM you, I could use someone in my corner!!!! :) :780_sparkling_heart:

haha yeah to be expected ive already had a couple good and a couple bad days.

ONLY 35 lbs! Girl that is great! I cannot tell you any time in my entire life where i lost 35 lbs in a month! be proud of yourself that is amazing!

I am definitely nervous to transition into solid foods. I have been lucky thus far to have very minimal nausea and it seems like its only when i wake up!

But solids may be a different story! nerve wracking haha

just take it slow. bc I rushed and it HURTS and get "stuck" so to say . It give me anxiety bc I don't wanna throw up haha. But I'm not a quitter lol I go back and try again a day or two later. For Thanksgiving I was able to eat like 4 good bites and then boop done. Its crazy. Bc I was an eater !!! LOL like 2 plates and some more type a girl lol.

Reach out of you have any other questions !!!! :)

haha i was a little worried! i am glad to hear someone else had the same experience (not that you were in pain) but its hard to know what is normal and what isn't in this journey!

I think i maybe was just a little dehydrated so i was a little backed up. Yesterday was the first day i have hit Fluid goals!

How are you doing a month out :)

Ummmm....I am doing ok. I would say good but I don't feel like I've been doing good bc I've only lost 35llbs. I can eat solid foods already like 2-3 bites and I'm done. I pretty much hit fluid goals some days ...I don't. :) I have super good days and my stomach is calm and easy going lol and then I have some ugly days and I'm like WHY did eat thisssssss??? LOL Its all an experience and you'll get to know your body in ways you thought you already knew it but no...you didn't. hahaha.

Literally sounds like my experience to the T lol lol

I'm sure you'll feel better. Mine was cramping oh so hard my wife was ready to take me to the hospital lol lol. But all is well :)

Anyone had any stomach cramping at night? It kept waking me up... I tried a new Protein Shake before bed wondering if that is it.

I am assuming it was just gas pain since I was sleeping and not getting it out.

May be too personal but have you gone to the bathroom recently? I had INTENSE cramping a few days after surgery and it was because of that reason. So. Maybe that?

    Hello all!

I am 5 months out and a 100lbs down. I am honestly so grateful that I got the opportunity to have this operation done. I don’t miss my old life style at all, I now love the gym, I love my lean Protein and veggie meals, I love being able to shop anywhere without worrying about if they’ll carry my size, I love not worrying about taking up too much space on public transport, I love running about everywhere and not feeling the excess weight on my knees and feet.

Have I had bad days?? Of course! One day I ate an entire block of brie, another day I ate a slice of pizza. But the difference is now I don’t let my mistakes define. One bad meal isn’t going to get me back where I started. One bad meal isn’t the end of my journey. I accept it, and move on. Maybe i’ll move around even more the next day.

I have another 30lbs to go until I hit my goal weight, I will never ever ever be skinny, because i’m naturally curvy and you know what? That’s ok. I own these curves and i’m healthy and curvy!

    HW: 298
    SW: 289
    CW:185
    GW:150 ish?

You look amazing. Yesterday I am one month out and I've lost 36llbs. I feel like I'm loosing slower but I also feel accomplished. Seeing your pics and hearing your words of wisdom really makes me feel like I'm on the right path. :)

    Good luck w/ your journey!!!!

I haven’t had any complications... it’s the phases they follow when I attended the classes. I have to drink 2-4 8 oz Protein Shakes a day plus work toward 64 oz of Water or sugar free beverages. I’m doing pretty good with it. They just added Protein shakes last Thursday. I’m just struggling to eating anything. Like I just want something...

I can totally relate to this. However my surgeon said to take it slow and I would know when I could move to the "mushie/pureed" stage. Well. I thought I was good to go because like you I wanted to chew something SO badly. But no, My stomach was not ready. Take it slow. I am almost 2 weeks post op and I've had some pureed foods but mostly sticking to yogurt and broth still. Everything else is hard to get down and hurts. Good luck!!!!!

I am an account manager, total desk job. I was curious how long others were off work due to their surgery.

I have a desk job as well. I had my surgery on a Thursday (sleeve) and returned the next Wednesday. I work 10 hour shifts and only "problem" I had was sitting down for long periods of time, so I took frequent breaks walking around for 5-7 minutes and everything would feel better. Hope that helps !

How are you doing? I am down to 4 days to go. Anything you can think of that you would have changed going in or when you came out that you have done and regret??

Hey! I'm doing good!!! I followed my Dr to a T about pre op instructions. They said my liver was perfect and such. I forced myself to get up and walk. I did not want to however. It was more painful then i was prepared for however getting up and moving as soon as you can will help you sooooo much.

Right now im on mushie stages but i feel like i pushed myself to get there and alot of days I go back to liquid because i know my stomach isnt ready. Just listen to your doctors and your body. You got this!!!!! Good luck!!!!!

  17. So I got sleeved 10/25/18. It went really well!!! Doctor said my liver was perfect and I was actually released same day!!!! But today I went back to work , which I work at a desk so its not aggressive or anything however I've been getting this great pain in my back. The same side that the larger incision was made so I don't know if its normal or not?

Also. It hurts to drink Water. I've tried it room temp and cold. Its so hurty lol. I am drinking Powerade Zero however doctor said it was fine but I was curious if others had a water problem? Or am I just being a baby lol

    Thanks for listening! :)

  18. Thank you everyone. It all went well. I woke up with a lot more pain then what I anticipated however my nurses were on top of it!!! I was walking w/in 20 min of waking up and getting into my room ANNNND was released the same day to go home, I was super proud of myself. I now am back to work ( I work at a desk) and I am in some pain and super uncomfy butttt I'm pushing through! :)
