My surgery was 8-7, do you feel left side pain still? I feel I did well walked the night of surgery as well. I am still have pain on left side, nothing unbearable or intense, just pain. I still take pain meds, one in afternoon and one around bedtime. How about you?

ttj3mom reacted to Richard Hayes in 6 days after surgery
Well I’ve still been taking my Tylenol 4 just about every 5-6 hrs so honestly when I lay down I don’t feel too much because of that but I’ll bet if I don’t take it I will I usually sleep on my side so I’m sure is just still some gas but still check in with your Bariatric team to make sure

Question, I am 6 days out too, I do have pain on my left side still, is that normal do you think. It’s the same pain I had after surgery (sleeve) it is less pain everyday but just still there. I could not go to work if I had too today. I also had to take milk magnesium and a stool softener, so it could just be gas and bowel related. So just checking out there. A little nervous. Other then that just trying to get all the liquid in I can!

My doctor recommended MoM for the first week or so. I think maybe because Miralax is stronger and or has sugar? Not sure...MoM worked for me though!

Throw half a cup of baby spinach in the blender with your Protein Shake. Works fine for me. Have never taken any kind of meds for this issue.

ttj3mom reacted to jess9395 in Was it worth it?
10000000% worth it. Five years out from the sleeve. Maintaining well. I had a relatively easy recovery. There are some things I still can’t eat as they don’t sit well, but they are mostly things I don’t need to be eating anyway like rice, bread and carbonation.
Do realize that most people don’t get “thin.” Most people lose about 60-75% of their excess weight. So if your ideal weight is 135-165 and you weigh 265 you have 100lbs of excess weight. If you lose 60% of that that’s 60lbs so the odds are you would end up weighing 205.
You can definitely work and lose more, but statistically that’s what happens.

@dreamingofasleeve
From what I read, it is normal to have some reservations and fear pre-op. In the weeks leading up to my surgery, I know I was certainly questioning myself every step of the way, even up to the surgery itself. As they were strapping me to the operating table, I was crying. And, just like Matt, I can say that I'm glad I did it now. That was not always the case.
I went through a similar experience as Matt with Lap Band, but I had my band out long ago and lived without my tool for about 8 years before realizing that I needed help. Since I got sleeved, I've gone through what I call a food "mourning" period where I think about what I've done and what the ramifications are to my relationship with food. There was a certain pleasure in eating and for me, it was linked to socialization and love. I have had to come to grips with that and change. I think I will always struggle with it, a little bit.
Today, food is fuel. Yes, I still derive a certain amount of pleasure in it, but I don't eat for pleasure. Today, I eat to live. I don't live to eat.
My advice to you is to do a little bit of soul searching. Bariatric surgery of any kind is not the end all/be all. YOU need to examine how much you are willing to adapt and change in order to reach your goals. Any weight loss surgery is a tool, a powerful one, but a tool just the same. Good luck!

ttj3mom got a reaction from Frustr8 in Bowels after surgery
Hi guys, I am getting my surgery this Tuesday unless I chicken out, the gastric bypass. One of my biggest concerns is the bathroom issues. How many have bowel issues after surgery, even a year out, the idea of my intestines having a blockage scare me too. I had a friend 10 years after her surgery have that happen, is that because of gastric bypass? Any advice would help or information. Thanks again

ttj3mom got a reaction from Ylime in Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
@Ylime my surgery is August 7th and I am questioning everything also, I am like, if I can do this pre diet, why don’t I just do that instead of surgery, why am I doing this surgery when I can just eat this way, then I say, well why didn’t you eat this way before, if this was what I should do. So then I tell my self, surgery. I am also fearing the actual surgery, blood clots, everything. So I think it’s normal if we both are experiencing the same thing.?
