On route to hospital. Surgery planned for tomorrow. Was tough leaving the family but now I’m on my way I’ve settled a bit. Still anxious but ready too.

there's your problem - you're believing what you read online. Just don't. NO ONE loses 5-15 lbs a week from weight loss surgery. People who are on shows like "My 600 lb Life" might lose somewhere at the lower end of that range, but even THEY aren't going to lose 15 lbs a week.

the average WLS patient (and I am NOT talking people who start out at 600+ lbs, like on those shows) loses somewhere in the 15-25 lb range the first month - and then it drops to about 10 lbs a month (give or take) after that. And for lower BMI patients, it'll be even lower than that. Yes - you will find people here and there who do not start out at over 600 lbs who might drop 30 lbs the first month, but they are outliers. And NO ONE loses 15 lbs a week (OK - maybe the very first week when most of that is Water weight - but after that, no. It just doesn't happen).

I started out at almost 400 lbs and lost 16 lbs the first month. 12 lbs the second. And then around 10 lbs, give or take, for the next six months or so. And I lost every molecule of my excess weight - over 200 lbs.

You are doing fine. Readjust your expectations a bit. If you are following your program, and you're seeing a general downward trend, you're good.

your rate of weight loss is fine and perfectly normal.

I am finishing day 1 of liquid diet and it wasn’t so bad. I am kind of use to sugar free and artificially sweetners because I have done Keto on and off for awhile.
I am to drink 3 shakes and 2 Protein Bars and unlimited broth, sugar free Jello and popsicles. Oh and a boiled egg if needed. Why boiled egg I don’t know but I ate it!
I haven’t felt deprived but I will prolly get bored soon. Just hoping the next 13 go by quickly!
    Good luck all!

Day 11 of my pre-op diet and VSG on Monday 10/11. I’ve actually been really good and have enjoyed the Premier Protein shakes and have added the vanilla flavor of Premier Protein to my coffee. I should have done that years ago! I’m down several pounds so I’m sure this liver shrinking diet will lead to a successful surgery. I’m stocked up on broths, Isopure protein unflavored, sf popsicles, Jello and cases of Premier. Let’s do this! 😆

Hey Folks! I’m 1 day post-op for the sleeve. I lost 121lbs on my own as a personal goal leading up to surgery and now the healing stages begin.

I'm definitely uncomfortable, but my pain is being managed while I’m here at the hospital. I haven’t progressed to anything beyond drinking Water yet as the inflammation is causing my stomach to be very painful with intake still.

Everyone’s journey is different, but I certainly wanted to hop on and share a little of what mine is going like. It’s getting better, just a bit slower on the healing side of things than I had hoped.

Hello everyone , I had a revision from VSG to Roux-en-Y on October 1st. I just made it home from
The hospital no complications . The first day is painful but today I’m feeling a little better .

It’s not as bad as I was expecting but I asked to walk right out of surgery and basically walked every 2 hours which helped a lot with the gas pain !

    Good luck everyone!

Mine is confirmed for October 27, 2021 for a duodenal switch, I had a gastric sleeve back in October 24 2018. Went from 360 to 215. I had a good run with it but ended up in the icu for 18 days due to COVID and nearly dying and became limited in mobility. I had such bad complications and I still do but more manageable. My body aches are so bad than when I was overweight. My Dr.’s don’t want to do another sleeve because the likelihood of gaining the weight back is greater again, whereas the duodenal switch is more effective, luckily my gastric doctor handles both and is excellent! I can’t wait, just nervous about the Vitamin deficiency though 😰 good luck to you all!

    Hi everyone!
I’m having surgery tomorrow 10/2/21 in Tijuana. My mom had the same gastric sleeve procedure done at the same location years ago and is doing great…but I’m still so nervous. I’ve never had surgery before and am really scared of anesthesia or some crazy complication (though I know the chance is tiny). Also I’m afraid I won’t be able to eat anything normal after recovery…I really love cooking and having friends and family over for dinner. It’s always been such a source of pride to me and I feel sad I won’t be able to enjoy that the way I used to.
Just trying to focus on all the good things that will come of this to stay calm and positive. No more joint pain, fitting into old clothes, better body image, etc!!
Very best of luck to everyone, I just signed up for this and it’s really comforting to know I’m not alone
