    October 2018 Sleevers

I wondered the same thing! I asked him. He knew I'd had VSG. It was like he thinks all fat people lie about what they eat. I showed him my food logs in my phone. He simply said I'm not logging everything. I was floored. You guys being supportive makes me feel better about it. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if he weren't a respected and very experienced surgeon. I remind myself that all of our pre op and post op programs are different...I guess surgeons can differ in what they measure as success, as well. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

Thanks, this was a useful tool. Using this calculation it is 16/102x100=15.686. Did I do that right? My starting weight at surgery was 243. The IBW chart my doctor uses says 131 for me. Which means 102 pounds excess body weight. Seems like my 16 pounds is maybe ok... Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

Thank you! That does help me. I know my surgeon is ok with my process. It's just one thing a fat person who's used to failing does NOT need, ya know? All of your guys support helps. So thank you. [emoji173]️ Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

    October 2018 Sleevers

Ok so o had my six week checkup today and saw the other surgeon in the practice (mine was out of the country for a family emergency). I was feeling good! He asked me a bunch of questions and then after all of the answers, he basically told me that I had to be lying because I should have lost 30 pounds by now and it's only been 16. I feel like a failure. I'm getting (shooting for) 600 calories a day... realistically I'm averaging around 700. This doctor told me that I had to be taking in 2000 calories a day to not be losing more than I am. I feel deflated and like I've failed. I tried to explain what I was doing and he said he wasn't there to negotiate my diet and that only I know the truth. I mean I lost 80+ pounds on my own before surgery using a low carb diet, I know HOW to do this. I did have a small sliver of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. But come on, that hasn't cut my weight loss in half. I will be glad to see my own surgeon again in six more weeks. I saw him last week and he was pretty happy with my loss up to then. Then I talk to this guy. Feeling very defeated. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

    fears

Slow losers club here!! I'm at 16lbs and five weeks post op. It's still within the range of what's normal/expected for my starting weight of 243. It's hard not to compare to others, though. Has anyone lost pretty slowly but still reached goal?? I don't mind a slower pace...what I worry about is that losing little amounts will mean not losing much total, overall. 9. Almost everyone seems to stall somewhere in the 3-5 week range, and it lasts for some a couple weeks. This is regardless of what they do exercise wise, or food wise for that matter. I freaked when it happened to me and I had to research a lot to feel better. Stick with your program, keep up with the protein and water and exercise as you can...but know this is normal. Inches!!!!

On Baritastic, you measure your waist, both thighs, both upper arms, hips, chest and neck. The lost inches is combined for all of those on the app. Not sure how others work. But A-ok with me! Nice to see 22 inches lost when I'm five weeks post op today and have only lost 16 pounds. [emoji6] Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

  19. I'm at five weeks out. I was mixing it in my water. Like you, I don't like the taste or texture. So for the ones that have the unflavored protein powder in them, I use a little crystal lite packet...or a half depending on the flavor. I also add my benefiber. Before I was getting more protein from food, I was adding a half scoop of the unflavored protein powder to every 16oz shaker bottle I drank...which was getting me 30g in addition to my food and my one protein shake. Was putting me at or above 80g per day. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

    FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS

I'm terrified. Being militant about my protein and vitamins. I have super fine, thin hair to begin with. I can't afford to lose much of ANY without needing a wig! Seriously...my ponytail is like the diameter of between a dime and a nickel size. I just have to remember even if I lose a ton, this will have been worth it! How/when did you find your groove?

Great question, and I'd like to know the same thing. For the fiber, though...I'm using benefiber added to all of my liquid and it seems to be helping. The doctor is also having me take a dose of miralax each day for now. If I didn't use the benefiber, I'd get almost none. I'm eating 6 times a day right now, and getting about 50g of protein from food. I have one protein shake a day, which is great with me! I figure once I can have larger portions, at six months, and I'm eating more veggies, maybe I won't have to have any of the shakes anymore. I don't know that anyone can see much difference, but I can see a little. These are four weeks apart. The day of surgery before. Four weeks post op after. I have not put any full body shots together yet to compare. GirlShrinking, you look great!! Keep it up. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

I feel like I blew it

Of course! You definitely can. I'm five weeks out and I had some Thanksgiving favorites. It's the pre op diet and the first 3-4 weeks after, depending on your program, that are so strict and hard to stick to. I ate what everyone else ate, just in tiny amounts totaling 1/4 - 1/2 of a cup. I'm still feeling sorta like you. I have had to cut out the few carbs I was having. When I started eating more protein in place of the carbs there was less need for protein shakes to meet my 80g. Hopefully now the scale will move. I got rid of the stuff I was having that I shouldn't have. I had surgery 10/22 and have also lost 14lbs. Hang in there...it will move for us.
