  1. Hello, I am new to this forum! I started the process in may (not thinking I would actually get approved), I attended a weight loss seminar may 31st. Their were about 4 papers to fill out and return then wait to be called by the patient coordinator supervisor. I was contacted within hours of turning the paperwork in. I was told that I was approved and I needed to pick a surgeon. After picking a surgeon the ball rolled pretty quick. I was scheduled to see the surgeon the first week in June. I was a great candidate for gastric sleeve and could go forward with the process. I then was assigned a bariatric coordinator that got everything lined up for me. I had to do one nutrition appointment, get a EKG, lab work, upper gi study and a psychological evaluation . Everything was quick except the evacuation for some reason it took 3 weeks to get scheduled. I also had to reach out to them. After getting no response from the psychologist, I reached out to my coordinator hoping she would be helpful. I slowly realized I was getting on her nerves with my many phone calls and voicemails. After calling 3 times I finally got a hold of her getting a preop appointment for 7/26. I’m a little concerned that she will not do what needs to be done when submitting for approval. I am now done with everything and waiting for my insurance company to approve me. With a surgery date of 8/6 my concern is I won’t be approved in time. After preop with the surgery how long after were you approved for surgery? I’m guessing I will know Thursday if I’m going forward with my surgery date or not.

G2 and Powerade zero is pretty good
  6. I’m on day 2 post op (sleeved 8/6) 1 & a half days in the hospital, I’m home now. Yesterday I could do everything for myself I even passed some gas ( gas pain is no joke). Today (8/8/18) I woke up on my own little pain and no assistance from anyone. I think it’s a mental thing. I also think it’s going to depend on how you’re feeling after surgery if you will need much help at home. The day of surgery I was soooooo weak but today I feel ready to walk some. A little gas pain and little stomach pain but other then that I’m doing fine for myself. Drinking is a bit of a challenge. Cold stuff worsens my gas pains hot stuff helps me pass gas. Overall, I feel great ! I will be back in no time. Now I’m just waiting to go #2.

    How long should I wait?!

    You are awesome!
  9. Hello all, This will be a lengthy post! 10 years ago I was sure getting this surgery was the quick fix to weight loss I was searching for. I thought I would get the surgery, no pain, no problems. I would self-pay and all my problems would be solved. I didn't think about the depression I was dealing with, the addiction to food that needed to be addressed or the I don't care attitude. I feel that at the age of 20 I was naive and nowhere near ready for this challenge. 21-28 I challenged myself so much. I stop eating beef and pork for8 years. I started working out every week then a couple days then more and more. I started meditating to cleanse my desire for food. I tried lifestyle changes instead of quick fixes. 10 years later! I had time to deal with my depression, I'm wiser and have done years of research on the gastric sleeve. I educated myself year after year on something different about dieting, exercising, being mentally stable, loving me even when I felt I couldn't & understanding that being happy was to be found first, then I could see if this surgery was right for me. While I am truly happy with my life I haven't been happy with my weight in a long time. I wanted surgery to be happy with the person I looked at in the mirror, to be able to enjoy this wonderful life God blessed me with and to get back to a real happiness. I’m 30 years old, married with 4 wonderful children (13,11,10&2), all natural births, very little pain after. I was sleeved 8/6/2018. I went through the doubts and nervousness a week before and a couple of days before the surgery. On the day of surgery, I told myself that whatever happens when I wake up I will deal with it with little complaints. I sighed up for this surgery and felt that I had properly prepared myself for what was to come. I knew the pain would be bad didn't know how bad but I knew the challenge would be great! I knew I would no longer be able to eat what I wanted any longer. A little over 3 days in and I'm happy, figuring out what works on this 2-week liquid diet and I WILL NOT GIVE UP! I WILL FALL BUT NEVER STAY DOWN! I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER WHY I CHOSE THIS NEW LIFE AND TRY MY BEST AT ALL TIMES! Follow my sleeve Instagram: followmysleeve

What the f<%*€ am I thinking!!!

Oh sleeve sister you got this. I have 4 children one has a disability and needs me 24/8. I have nurses in my home all day everyday, my husband works everyday of the week. Still had to cook, clean and find the time to take a break on top of work and studying but you know what I’m pulling it off. I’m kicking responsibilities butt 4 days post!
  15. I’m still taking what the hospital provided which is oxycodine but I gave no problem with it or Tylenol. Maybe your pain is something else. Have you spoke to your surgeon?

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

I was told protein first but I’m getting liquids in all day. I believe pain, fever and some other symptoms.
  18. You can inbox me as well. Just look at your broth as a nice dinner that you can’t wait to try. For me beef broth is a piece of chicken smothered in rice and gravy. Silly but It works.

    Preop diet

I myself haven't experienced this problem so I'm really not sure how to answer that but suppositories gave me some kind of outlet, not that bm I wanted but it helped. Maybe your primary can help.
  24. I'm a few days away from having my surgery (8/6), I am overly excited however I am also very nervous. The process took about 2 months which was pretty quick. I don't have to do a liquid diet but I'm currently doing one anyways for the next few days. I have to admit I didn't do a full 2 weeks of the diet my surgeon provided and I'm a little concerned my liver hasn't shrunk enough. I've been drinking protein shakes 2 times a day and eating dinner. I have my hospital bags packed and ready to go but my nerves definitely have the best of me!
