hi @Healthy_life2, so glad to have you pop in...was hoping you would since you are one of the successful long term maintenance-ers who are active here!
I think I have resigned myself to the fact that this is what I have to do (for now). Now what about Water consumption? I assume this grazing strategy combined with the 30 min wait to drink will lower my overall water intake. At 5 yrs out, do you still wait to drink after eating?
As for the carbs increase, I don't think I'm mentally ready to do that yet (at least not significantly). Like you, I think I have an unhealthy fear of regain at the moment. I am banking on the fact that I will get over this mental block as I get further out...

I’m following this because I’m going to need it in a month or 2, the idea of maintenance scares me.

When we go to a restaurant we immediately ask for a takeout box when we order our food. Sometimes I can stretch 3 meals out of it. The meal at the restaurant, evening meal and lunch the next day.

10,500 for dr Shillingford Vertical Sleeve in Boca Raton is where I went. I had a friend take me from the Tampa Bay area. I bought her a hotel just in case I needed her. He does it in the hospital and the price includes all pre-OP testing, the surgery, 2 night HOSPITAL stay, all fees from the hospital, radiology swallow test and follow up for a year. I only paid for pain meds, zofran and antacids. Everything and I mean everything was included.
I did a phone consult, my dr sent him my records and I had the surgery 3 weeks after our phone consult.
I started at size 18/20 2XL 220 lbs. One year later I am 126 lbs, size 2 XS. I successfully eat Protein and veggies. I have some food aversions like Pasta and rice. I can't eat much bread. Everyone is different after the surgery. Avoid slider foods! Don't eat cream high fatty Soups after surgery.
I'm the bride on the left.

Lolo 2020 got a reaction from claricey in I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?
So i am almost 6 months out and was a low BMI to start with. A 34 i think at 241 lbs. was 231 the day of surgery and started walking 3 miles a day within a week of surgery. I also had been spinning 3-4 days a week and was pretty active. My calories the first 6 weeks were probably under 500 a day , all Protein but i was really good about getting Water and Protein Drinks in. I continue to do so. I lost almost 50 lbs in 3 months and have been slowly coming down the last 3 months to within 5 lbs of my 168 goal. I have had stalls, but found that i need to make sure i ate enough calories and carbs (i think sometimes i went too low), also drinking water helped tremendously. Especially a glass of lemon water a few hours after dinner but before bed. The Nut suggested that sometimes the stalls are just the fat is gone but fat cells are holding onto water. The lemon water works as a diuretic . I would always lose 1/2 to 1 lb when i did/do the lemon water. I made sure to get 10k steps in every day and often tried to do spinning and weights as well. The weight loss caused me to lose a lot of core strength and i have been slowly working to get that back. Most importantly, stay positive. We are in this for the long haul. I just ignore the stalls and stay the course and try more water and more exercise , but i have had them last 3 weeks.

There are of course 2 sides to this.
I am sure that if you had put in all this effort and lost all this weight and people didn’t comment or tell you how great you look you would be more teed off. I know it frustrates me when no one says anything.
Also whilst some people are attracted to obese people the majority of people aren’t. So whilst who you are hasn’t changed the way you look is probably a lot more pleasing now. Ask yourself if you thought you looked great when you were carrying all that excess weight, I know personally I think I look awful .

I have been doing 1/2 a lemon in 12 oz of Water every night 30 min after after my meals . 1/2 a cucumber in 4 cups should be fine . Drink as much of this water as u can if ur in a stall and spike your cardio
that seems to do it for me

That’s so interesting ! I too find that if I eat a little more , a stall will break . Although also a good spin class and tons of Water with lemon helps too !

Yes ! Don’t go to Mexico! I researched and found dr Shillingford in boca Raton florida . Did the entire procedure for $10,500. He has great reviews and specifically set up his program for non insured folks who wanted safe but reasonable surgery . I had a great result and am down 60lbs since 12/18

I weigh every day and try to keep calories under 1000, carbs under 50. Workout 5 x a week . Have been doing great , down 60 but this last month I only lost 6 lbs . Still I am about 12 lbs from goal so it’s the last bit and I am in size 10 and honestly wouldn’t be unhappy to be at this weight long term . No just dear regains when I am 6-8 months out from the sleeve so I want to overshoot my “comfortable “ weight
