Is it possible to ask him to eat away from you right now? I’d consider doing it too, but I also have young kids and it doesn’t seem fair to do that to them. Does he realize how much it’s affecting you? I think there’s a misconception that you get surgery and just quit being hungry and craving food. Maybe he’s clueless.

The man has a phobia of veggies and fruits (not joking), chugs 2 liters of coke daily, and puts down more food than I can imagine and is still a slim guy. Its infuriating!

You have already lost 10lbs, and you dont even have a fill! That is nothing to be discouraged about. This is a slow healthy process, not an instant fix, and the goal is 1-2 lbs per week. The first weeks/months were a little discouraging for me also, until I saw that the loss becomes fairly steady, and then I was able to relax and enjoy the process. Once you get a fill or two you will find that the band is able to help you make better choices and enjoy smaller portions....that is when it really starts "working"! Hang in there!

This has been widely discussed on this site, and you'll find that people have strong opinions for either keeping it a secret or telling all. I personally have kept my surgery private. Only my husband and children know. I don't feel obligated to tell anyone my personal medical history. I wouldn't expect someone to tell me they had a vasectomy. It's none of my business. I've changed my eating habits, so I tell them what my diet consists of but leave it at that. Too many people want to criticize another person for his/her life decisions, and I don't have time for that. I'm focusing on being positive and healthy and don't need the drama, especially at work.

Breakfast (Saving Matcha for mid-morning). I'll salute you then!
I love using hard fried egg + extra carton egg whites to make a taco!

It will also be my biggest meal of the day calorically. Couldn't do IF back to back today. Woke up starving. So will just do a calorie restricted day <700cals.

It makes me laugh to get this much food for 200 calories! I coulda done it for less by only using 1 slice of ham + an HEB light cheese wedge, but I needed to use up the Kraft cuz it's pretty old.

If you are prone to acid, or already have an ulcer, then that would be a case as well that you'd want to either not drink coffee, or maybe switch to cold brew (which is not really acidic at all.) It would kind of be treated the same way someone would deal with Tomato products (since tomatoes can also increase acid production.) I'm sensitive to tomato products (or so I think, my acid production prior to the surgery could have been a result of my weight and poor eating), so I try to reduce what I can. Right now my stomach is handling chili very well, but I'm also taking an acid reducer.

Hi Sophie , had my surgery done on the 20 th by DR Shillingford near boca . I am down 30lbs since I started the preop diet , 25 since surgery . Also on purées and soft foods . Have tried chicken salad and didn’t do well so I am sticking with 2’protein drinks a day and a little cottage cheese . Have only been able to get down soft flaky fish as a proper solid here and there . At 600 calories a day and 60-80g of Protein the weight is steadily coming off 3-4 lbs a week. Interestingly the more liquid I drink, the more I lose . Getting close to the 200 mark now and really can’t wait , haven’t been under 200lbs in 20 years !

I had a great food day yesterday. Note to self: let your criminis dry out in the fridge for a while. They become a VERY dense Protein like substance and fill my pouch up! Ha! It is one of the few meals I couldn't finish even though I' eat the equivalent of about 2eggs + veggies all the time. I actually have an "AFTER" photo for you!
Had a hankerin for my "quicky" faux egg foo young and so I did it and used Sriracha, sesame seeds, and WF Asian dressing (a SERIOUS compromise) LOL, but it was tasty none-the-less. My macros were more than expected, but not crazy. And well-within the JUDDDD format: 1045cals; 74g protein; 58g fat; 36g carbs; 9g Fiber (low); 29g net carbs; 5g sug
    Here were the food photos:

    Lol,
No I never used ginseng alone, it may have been a minor additive to a tea blend, I came into knowledge of traditional medicine while I was pregnant and a lot of plant meds are unsafe during those times so I avoided things I didn't out right need.
Traditional medicine brands & Yogi teas have a lot of odd blends. Amazon & Whole Foods.

I had surgery 12/18/18. It hasn’t been a piece of cake but it’s gone pretty well I think. I didn’t have any anesthesia issues. So far no nausea no vomit 🤮. Knocking on wood. ❤️❤️ I am still mostly liquids. Or purée in limited quantities of course. I still struggle daily with getting in all my Water and Protein. But so happy the surgery and the waiting is over. ❤️. Happy to be part of the December sleevers!

Ok, I'll start this. I'm about 6 1/2 months out from RNY surgery. I'm down 123.6lbs from my most recent high weight of 287lbs as of last May 5, 2017. You can see my stats in the signature panel and on the left side of each post. I love my surgery and have few problems--in fact, my pouch is named Iron Will cuz nothing bothers it except a high fat diet--then I will wish I'd died.
I'm starting IF because I had amazing results with it before a cancer dx and used it all throughout treatment. It protected my healthy cells and exposed the cancer cells to vulnerability. I am on a cancer drug that causes super-menopause--shutting down as much estrogen and progesterone as possible. So I'm terribly hormone-imbalanced and losing is harder than it should be. I also have thyroid issues that I'm dealing with as a result of life-long PCOS (metabolic disease).
I will do a bunch of gyrations with my IF--far more than most would need to do--so don't think "my plan" is the proper way to IF. I think most people don't have to jump through the extreme hoops I have to jump through in order to lose weight and stem inflammation--my ultimate goal.
I found ADF using the JUDDDD plan years ago. This doc who developed it was one of the pioneers in modern-day IF. JUDDDD stands for The Johnson Up Day Down Day Diet or ADF (Alternate Day Fasting Diet). You can get the book here. It's a very easy and effective plan and is based in part on the work of Dr. Valter Longo and his SIRT (longevity gene) research. It's based on growing telomeres to counter-balance the effects of aging. The diet also helps reduce inflammation and is very good for asthma/allergies in addition to helping a whole bunch of chronic diseases.
Here are my beginning stats. I will weigh in weekly and will add my measurements every month on the 20th. I'm beginning this IF journey on Labor Day 2018. Cuz you know...why not do something fairly hard on a national holiday lol.
My personal JUDDD plan will include alternate days of 500cals. The other alternating days will be normal eating patterns between 900-1200 cals. In addition, I will continue my low carb diet and will keep the following macros as much as I can. My plan says that being 100cals one way or the other makes little difference. So I won't sweat being a couple cals or grams over or under.
    Down Days (DD) 500 cals: 60%Protein (75g); 15%Carbs (19g--total non-net); 25%Fat (14g); Fiber where I can; <10g daily natural sugars
    Up Days (UD) aka Normal Days 1000 cals: 30% Protein (75g); 15%Carbs (50g--total non-net); 55%Fat (61g); 25g Fiber; <15g daily natural sugars
    Intermediate Medium Day 750 cals: 40% Protine (75g); 15%Carbs (28g--total non-net); 45%Fat (38g); as much fiber as possible; <10g daily natural sugars
    Alternating Schedule:
    M-W-Th: DD
    Sat: MD
    Fri-Sun: UD
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I'm also going to be eating within a 14:10 schedule which means, 14 hours fasting (currently considered the optimal fasting/eating window for females) and 10 hours opportunity to eat scheduled meals. I eat roughly 3-4 hours between meals. So I will be available to eat between 11am-9pm keeping roughly the 3-4 hours between meals.
    09.03.18 Weight:
    166.4lbs
    08.20.18 Measurements:
    Chest 40.5
    Waist 32.5
    Hips 41.5
    Neck 13.5
    Right Thigh 22
    Left Thigh 22
    Right Arm 11
Left Arm (Lymphedema from cancer) 12.5

I’m still surprised by this. They scopes me Tuesday 12/4 they said I have a hiatal hernia and need my gallbladder removed. My surgery is set for 12/11 they are fixing the hernia removing my gallbladder and doing the surgery. They briefly touched on this in the nutrition class and said it was common. I’m glad that I’ll be able to have the RNY just puzzled by your surgeon
