    Post-op severe nausea

Not yet. I just started the liquid stage yesterday. I had protein shakes, yogurt and cream soup with no issues. I was on clear liquids the 1st 3 days. I should start the puréed stage on 7/13 and regular foods on 7/27. Can’t wait!! I’ve been on liquids since 6/21. I’m ready for some variety.

    Post-op severe nausea

I’m so glad you are feeling better, Peridot. That’s great news and hopefully your next fill will not cause the same issue. I wish you the best of luck!!! I haven’t had my first fill yet. I go back on 7/12 but that will only be 2 weeks post-op. I dont think I will have my first fill until 4 to 6 weeks post op. Should know more after my follow-up visit. I look goward to hearing about your success😄

    Do I make the cut?

Thanks for the early birthday wishes, Taylor😄. I live in Alabama and my doctor is Jay Long at http://www.bmisurgery.com/jay-c-long.html. He is a phenomenal doctor who listens to my concerns. He has been absolutely wonderful. I’m 5’4 and weighed 178 prior to surgery. Dr. Long has me on 5 prescriptions right now for nausea, acid reflux, ulcers, blood clots and pain. I should finish all meds within the next 2 weeks. I am quite lucky and never had major surgery. I have not been nauseated and have no issues with the clear liquid diet (water, Crystal Light, broth and jello). I start the liquid diet tomorrow. The pain hasn’t been too bad either. I have my Fitbit and make sure I’m walking a little bit every hour and I think that has helped. When I start my liquid diet tomorrow and can go back to the protein shakes I plan on getting back on the tradmill and walk for 30 minutes a day. I have strictly followed all pre-op and post-op diets. Fingers crossed alll continues to go well. My first follow-up appointment is 7/12. If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out. I will be happy to help. The main reason I chose the lap band was because it was less invasive and not as permanent as the other surgeries. However, I think I would have chosen the other surgeries if my BMI was much higher. I did my research but was unaware of the new reversible sleeve at John Hopkins. That definitely sounds like another option you can research. So far so good here😄

    Post-op severe nausea

Hello Peridot, I’m so sorry you are having issues with nausea. I just had my lap band surgery this past Thursday, 6/28. I have not experienced any nausea. I’m still on the clear liquid phase, but have no issues with water, Crystal Light, Jello or broth. I start the liquid diet tomorrow. My doctor did prescribe 5 different meds after my surgery for acid reflux, nausea, blood clotting, pain and ulcers that I have to take for 2 weeks. The nausea medication I take every 4 hours which dissolves under my tongue is called Ondansetron. I go back on 7/12 for my first follow-up appointment. I hope you are feeling better soon and look forward to hearing about your progress.

    Do I make the cut?

Hi Taylor, I just had my lap band surgery 3 days ago. I will be 43 next week. I had a lower BMI of 30.5. I’m self pay and used a doctor in the US. He did recommend the sleeve, as it’s more common now. At this time I didn’t think that was the right decision for me; however, I know it has worked for many people. When I was younger exercise and eating right kept the weight off, but when I hit my mid 30’s that no longer worked. No matter what I did I continued to gain weight. I’ve been to many specialist to find out what was causing me to gain weight to no avail. I hope with the lap band tool, seeing the doctor regularly and following the program it will work for me. I know some people will disagree with my decision, but I feel like this was the best option for me after trying so many different things. I wish you the best of luck!

Am I the only one who loves their band?

Thanks so much for the information, Labwalker. I really enjoy and appreciate hearing everyone’s experience and stories. My doctor suggested the sleeve over the band; however, I decided to go with the band first. He really stressed the band was a tool and did take work and commitment. I really hope i can stay committed and be successful. One day I might have to get the sleeve, but I decided to go with the less invasive option first and hope it works😄

I’m on my second day of the liquid diet. It’s not to bad when I’m working but I’m not sure how I will feel this weekend. I have a home office so I don’t have to worry about smelling other people’s yummy food at work. However, I have 3 boys so that’s hard during dinner time when they are home. They are older and always on the go now. (21, 18 and 15). My husband had been really supportive and tries not to eat in front of me. My surgery will be outpatient so I’m supposed to go home the same day. Nervous but Excited! I look forward to hearing about your journeys😄

Am I the only one who loves their band?

I just joined today and want to thank everyone for sharing your stories! I’m having the lap band surgery next Thursday, 6/28. I’m excited but nervous as well due to some of the stories I’ve read. I know lap band is not as in demand as it was previously; however, I thought it was the best option for me. It seems much less invasive than the other surgeries. Im so glad to hear you do not regret your decision. If you have any tips please let me know.

I’m having my surgery next Thursday, 6/28. How are you doing after surgery? I hope all is well. I’m a little nervous. My surgeon recommended the sleeve but that seemed so permanent and invasive. I know that is the popular surgery now but I couldn’t take that leap.
