I know that we are starting to gain momentum in the August club. How is everyone doing? Have you gone back to work yet? How are you getting in your fluids and Protein?
I was sleeved on Wednesday 8/14. Yesterday was my first day home, and it was rough! I keep sip sip sipping but I know o am falling short on intake. I took a shower by myself just now, and I can get up and down off the sofa and our of my chair with only a moment of sharp pain.
I hope everyone else is doing well

In general, I have been very honest with people about my surgery. I didn't broadcast it on social media but if anyone asked me, I answered truthfully. That way I didn't need to keep track of who I told what, kwim? (My choice, you can all choose for yourselves.) However, now that I am close to goal weight, people have started asking if I intend to lose any more weight, and then promptly tell me not to. Believe me, I am nowhere near anorexic. I'm still a solid size 14 in most clothes. I think their perception is the "difference" in my weight, not in the physical reality of what I weigh now.
Anyway, my truthful time is over. When they ask, I'm just going to say "Nope, I think I'm good." Then I'll proceed to do whatever the heck I want to do anyway. Sort of like being a teenager again. I doubt anyone but me (and probably hubby) will actually notice if I lose another 5-10 pounds but the subject is not up for public debate, especially with people who want to tell me how bad I'll look.

    I was told I'd lose 60kg/130lbs over 12 to 18 months
I'm 5 months post op and down 80kg/176lbs and still losing regularly
i think how much you lose comes down to your own efforts, diet and exercise

Sounds like you need the support of friends and/or family right now, if that isn't possible do some things that keeps both your hands and mind occupied. You have probably cried a few tears by now, but if you need to do more don't hold back.

Sorry you are going through this.
No brilliant ideas. Maybe you could go and watch a movie, one that you want to see but know that he would have hated.
Get together with friends . Go shopping.

I ordered this. My surgeon said I don't need it, it's applied for gastric bypass only. Well I still love it. Ordered from Amazon.

I parked in a tight parking space and was still able to squeeze out of my door, without touching the car next to me. In the past I would not have been able to get out of my car.

I had surgery on 11/29 and I’m trying to not focus too much on the numbers on the scale or on my clothes.
My non scale victories since 11/29
Had to have a spacer put on my wedding ring
    I’m wearing a coat I haven’t worn in 2 yrs
I got rid of my pre-surgery work uniforms
I’ve cleaned my closet twice already
What are your non scale victories?!

The only way I can drink Water is with ice and very cold now. It’s going to be a trial and error to see what your pouch likes now. Just take your time. It took me some time before I found a new Protein Shake that I liked.

You lost 50 lbs. in less than 2 months and you are questioning whether or not it is working? That is incredible progress! When have you ever lost even close to that on a regular diet plan? It is working.

Jessbear345 reacted to Matt Z in Sweets
    OK.
    Stop.

Pretty simple. You know you shouldn't eat the, so don't eat them.

Sorry if this is blunt or callous, but, seriously, what do you expect someone online is going to do for you? No one can do anything for you. Hell, even if you went to a doctor, and they told you again not to eat sweets, the *only* person that is going to stop you from eating what you shouldn't... is you.

Is it hard, sure. But at the end of the day, only *YOU* control what *YOU* do. You decide to give into the cravings. They don't make choices on their own... Step up and do what you need to do. Focus on all the reasons you wanted the surgery to begin with.

This is your surgery. This is your tool. This is your future. Own it.

Fat stores estrogen, as you lose fat, your system gets flooded with estrogen, unfortunately your sex drive is controlled by your Testosterone levels. But, the good news is, that once you flush out a good amount of fat, and your body has a chance to balance out again, your sex drive should come back with a vengeance!

As far as the dryness... get yourself some lube. Water based stuff doesn't hang around long, but it's condom friendly. Oil based stuff works amazing, but isn't condom friendly. Silicone lubes are more expensive typically but are both condom friendly AND has good staying power. And no need to go to an adult store for lube, all pharmacies carry lube and personal massagers now.

Jessbear345 reacted to Matt Z in Gastric bypass reversal, how prevalent?
Major complications are extremely rare. Reversals are also extremely rare.

The rate of severe complications has dropped drastically in the past 10-15 years as newer medical technologies have come into play. Don't let someone's issue sway your decision. Being overweight typically has more complications than the surgery does.
