    Pre-surgery feelings of mom guilt

Hi! I had VSG surgery 6 weeks ago. I also have a 2 year old and a (at the time) 9 month old. I totally get what you are going through! This was my first ever surgery. I had no idea how I would react to anesthesia or if I would wake up from surgery. It was a scary thought. I’m also a nurse, so I may be more crazy than the average person when it comes to medical procedures haha. Just know that this surgery is so low risk and the benefits definitely outweigh the risks!! I have been overweight/obese for my entire life, and I do not want my children to be like that. I want to set a good example for them, run around at the park with them, and never want them to be embarrassed of me as they get older because of my weight. You know what’s best. You seem to have a great support system from your PCP and husband. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions!
  2. Thanks so much for your response! :) I think I will go ahead and send an email to the team.
  3. I’m eating for like 15-20 mins.
  4. Hi! I’ve read so much about the three week stall, so I’m not really going to talk about how annoying and frustrating that can be... because it sure is. I’m so nervous to ask my question. So, I started puréed foods Monday. Per the NUT, that includes scrambled eggs, no-fat refried beans, etc. I feel that I can eat more than I should. I can eat an entire scrambled egg with a little (0.3-0.4 oz) low-fat cheese or 3-4 oz of refried beans/yogurt in one sitting. I feel like that is a huge amount! I eat slow, chew (even though it’s soft/puréed), and have never felt nauseated. Per my NUT, I’m supposed to eating 3 meals per day and drinking two snack protein shakes. I’ve been meeting my water requirement and am getting 500-600 calories a day. Is this too much for me only being (almost) 3 weeks out? I’m sure there will hopefully be more restriction once I get to more solid type foods, but I’m just so nervous. The NUT told me not to worry about calories at this stage and just focus on protein/water intake. But what can I say, I like to worry.. Thanks for your help!

    I just need to vent...

It’s crazy how much we have in common. I first saw my Bariatric surgeon on 4/25 and was sleeved on 6/25 also. I am older than you (32) and a female, but your feelings are exactly mine. I also have two little boys that I did this for. I want to run around with them at the park and not be so self-conscious and embarrassed of myself. I wish you the best of luck!!! You are going to do great!!

    June sleevers

I am counting down the days too!! Everything has been going well over here! I’m only allowed clear liquids the first week, but will be able to start full liquids Tuesday. I’m excited for some yogurt and pudding lol. I Just can’t wait to put something in my mouth besides liquid. I’m so excited for the upcoming changes though.

Dessy, I’m so glad you’re doing well! I had my vsg on 6/25. I just had to comment because I’ve seriously been craving eggs too! I’ve always liked them, but was never a big egg eater. I’m thinking it’ll be my first food though whenever I can have it!!
  8. Oh, sorry y’all, it was gastric sleeve. :)
  9. Hi! I had surgery around 1230, and was home around 8 pm. I’m surprised how good/normal I feel. I do have gas pains, but walking a little seems to help. This was my first surgery ever, and I was very nervous! I even started crying when they wheeled me into the OR. I have not had any nausea, but I did have the anti-nausea pill 3 hours before surgery (Arepitant). I believe it was Creekkimp who said it was worth the money, and I would definitely have to agree! I’m so glad to have this done and to be on the other side! I read constantly in these forums, and just want to thank everyone for all the questions and answers that are available to read. It helps so much! Melissa Hw 291 Sw 275 Gw 160?
  10. Yay on your approval!! July 17th will be so soon!!!! Keep us updated!!
  11. Momo, let’s definitely keep in touch! How long ago did you have surgery? It will be so fantastic for you and your future family! I used clomid and metformin to get pregnant with my two, but I was terrified the entire time that something would happen because of my weight. I was SO lucky though... no high blood pressure, no diabetes, and full-term vaginal deliveries with both (sorry if tmi haha). I really am so excited for you!!
  12. Hi! My name is Melissa. I’ve debated whether I should post or just remain a lurker... but here I am! Everyone here is so great and supportive, I figured it would only help me if I joined y’all. I have been overweight for literally my entire life, and have never been able to keep a significant amount of weight off for long. I have no co-morbidities, but I do have PCOS. I’m 5’4’’ with a weight of 279 currently. I’m having my gastric sleeve surgery Monday the 25th!!! I’ve been on a liquid diet since last Monday and have not cheated once, so I’m super proud of myself. I really wanted a whataburger yesterday haha. I wish you all the best of luck!
