I have an obnoxious gossipy aunt who loves to milk people for this kinda crap so she can spin it and spread it....so I don't mind having some fun with her.
I just tell her outrageously creative lies.
She isn't interested in anything factual. She doesn't really care or want to empathize. She wants tabloid entertainment for neighborhood publication.....so I let her have some.
How did I lose so much weight?
    My new crack addiction.
    Witchcraft
Eating only watermelon for thirty days.
Dedicating my life to the service of David Miscavige
    Mail order tapeworms from Brazil.
    Pancreatic cancer.
    A new deadly gluten allergy.
    Playing Dance Dance Revolution
    Fat cryotherapy

She gives me a hateful look, I get a chuckle, and next time maybe she picks a different target for her shenanigans.

SydneySleever reacted to Taoz in How are the May sleevers doing?
Hi everyone. I was sleeved 2nd May so I'm now 8 weeks out and have been on solids from week 5. Eating is going well. I had been getting about 700-800 calories a day but I"m trying to get that up to 1000 a day now. I always make my Protein target of 75g+ but haven't been getting enough Water in the last few weeks, getting a little over half of my target some days, 3/4 others, so that's something for me to work on this week. I am eating mostly fresh-cooked foods plus a couple of protein supplements (protein water made with brewed ice fruit tea, collagen hydrolysate in my morning coffee, and sometimes a Protein Bar as a meal or snack if I don't feel like eating much). I am not trying for very low carb, as I want my diet to be sustainable in the long term, and want to include sufficient veggies and complex carbs like wholemeal breads and slow cooked rolled oats porridge etc.
I haven't had any real issues with foods, though some things I just haven't liked the taste of. I'm sampling a few diet read-made meals at the moment so I have some nice-tasting fall backs for times I'm not up to cooking, plus freezing a few home cooked meals in my portion size (like the delish beef and red wine casserole I made the other day).

I started planning for sleeve early this year at 121kg (highest weight 124kg mid last year), was 111kg by surgery day and just cracked the under-100kg mark a few days ago woot! Like many others, my pattern seems to be staying around the same for a week or two, then dropping several kilos the next week once my body lets go of the excess water, so I refuse to stress about scales failing to drop for a while. I know I'm doing the right things and the weight loss will continue in it's own pattern, hopefully all the way down to 60kg. Aunt flo is due again soon so I expect to retain Fluid for a bit again shortly.
Amusingly, I can no longer wear my comfy soft-cup bra tops any more (which I sleep in as well as was wearing most days, a carry over from all the years stuck in maternity bras) as from last week "the girls" kept falling out the bottom of them at inappropriate times! LOL, my 9yo daughter found it hilarious when I showed her. Thank goodness it happened under a thick winter jacket when it happened at school drop off! I must have suddenly lost more size around my underbust area (and I can't wear the next size down ones, 12-14, as they won't contain my giant boobs). I now have to get used to wearing some of my remaining proper fitting underwire bras again (it's hard to get affordable and comfy bras when you are sized 16G - I doubt I'll lose much in cup size with the weight loss as was a 12E-F cup at 13 years old, but I look forward to a breast lift and reduction once I'm at goal!).
Lovely to hear how everyone else is doing. Remember not to compare your losses with anyone else, as all of our bodies are so different!

EDIT: WOOHOO! today's weigh in puts me under BMI 40 finally... *happy dance*

I had my sleeve on 24 May and I’m on solid foods now. Back at work and looking forward to exercising this week. I’m trying hard not to focus on the scales cause I had a big drop in week one but nothing much since. Hope you’re all doing well.

I had sleeve on 5/29. The first few weeks I felt great and had lots of energy. I started soft foods a week ago and I’m feeling more sluggish and tired. I know my body is adjusting but it’s frustrating. I’ve also only lost 16 pounds in 4 weeks, I thought I would have lost more. I was 233 day of surgery (5’4”, 46 years old female). How many calories are you taking in during soft food stage?

A thought for you to think,on, I read this somewhere
Reach out to your family, if they rebel keep on reaching out. You will get bonus points in Heaven; they get the eternal demerit points. The problem is have with this. is When you turn the other cheek, you end up with 2 bruised cheeks instead of one. Also:
Fire refines some people so you see the gold underneath. but some are trash and just burn up with a loud stinky smell.
You are one of the better people, you don't need trash in your life so turn your back on friends like that. Your mother that is a problem . You were her baby, she should be protecting you while you are trying to recover. Set her down , explain I appreciate you trying to help, but things you are doing and saying are hurtfull to me. If you aren't happy to be here and help me, perhaps it's time for you to go home. So it's up to you- Mom ---❤--how is it going to be?

Now may be the time where you find deeper strength in yourself and independence from the negative connections. Perhaps this is who they were all along and you can just see clearer now.

So, I had bypass a little over 3 weeks ago, lost like 14 pounds the first week but have been stalled since then. Surgery weight was 265 pounds, have been at 251 for the past 2 weeks. I am currently on pureed/soft foods. I ran my daily food through MyFitnessPal:
    Calories 491
    Carbs 36
    Fat 10
    Protein 71
    Sugar 8
I am taking in 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of food at each meal. Any idea what might help?
    Thanks!

I know that you said you did not want to be judged for not being heavy enough, BUT you are not heavy enough for gastric bypass. Please do not mistake this comment for judement, the STRUGGLE IS REAL and your pain is real.
Research says that bariatric surgery should only be done on low BMI patients if they have uncontrolled diabetes and the gastric sleeve would be the preferred choice. Low BMI by surgical standards is still 30-35, which you are still below.
Here in the U.S. physicians take an oath to "do no harm". I do have to question any bariatric surgeon that would perform gastric bypass on a patient at such a low weight/BMI. Inducing a malabsorptive state on someone with very little to lose is irresponsible. Losing weight might happen, but so will other Vitamin deficiencies if you are not eating right.
I am not trying to be judgemental, but please consider other options before going "under the knife" again.

If I were to close a fast food chain, it wouldn't be because the food was disgusting. It would be the one that tempts me most! Popeye's chicken - 'cause it's all about me, don'tcha know! Spicy fried chicken and red Beans & rice, yikes!

(waves) I felt that way too at first props for doing what you are doing, keep going and listen to your body. I had my surgery in October 2017 and I'm only now in the low 190's because of meds, muscle mass and I probably am a slow loser. This is the best choice you've made for the rest of your life, it's a marathon, not a sprint.
It's something to be sustanable long term. Well done on how far you have come. It takes guts to do what we have done, I had no idea I'd not have a 'honeymoon' year like most do. The medications for my depression only in the last month have started metabolizing fully.
For me, the hardest part has been mental, be kind to yourself pamper yourself like spa day or spa at home day get your hair done nails done etc.
I've seen so many inches fall off however, the weight will follow. It's just a portion of the picture. Keep your chin up.

I’m four weeks out. First week I lost a lot of weight. Second week some weight. Third week no weight loss. Fourth week no weight loss. Today the scales moved! I was really worried when I stalled and thought I was never going to move on the scales and didn’t believe what I read about the stalls. Hang in there, give yourself time to adjust. It’s easier done than said I know!

SydneySleever reacted to MarinaGirl in rny vs mini
Your statement that MGB is “essentially a sleeve and reconnect” is wrong. In VSG, the stomach is permanently altered; approx. 80% is cut away and removed from the body. This does not happen with MGB. It is like the RNY in that a pouch is created and the old section of the stomach is still there. Therefore, MGB is considered reversible, unlike the VSG. MGB also does not result in new diagnoses of acid reflux, unlike the VSG.
MGB surgery is quicker and technically easier, so it carries a lower complication rate compared to traditional RNY gastric bypass.
Again, MGB doesn’t have an increase risk of ACID reflux, but it does have an increase risk of BILE reflux. These are not the same. My acid reflux was resolved after MGB, which has been verified with multiple EGD endoscopies and Bravo pH testing. But 6 months ago I developed bile reflux; new issue and symptoms that I’m working with medical specialists to correct.

Eating too little can cause your weight loss to stop. The body has built in defense mechanisms to prevent starvation and will start to fight weight loss if you restrict calories too much or exercise too hard.
Your body is healing. You need those calories to repair your stomach.
Follow your surgeon's guidelines. They exist for a reason. Your team has seen people do and try everything...and they will advise you on the safest most effective way to proceed. Listen to them and follow their instructions.
Drink your Water. All of it. Get your Protein in. All of it. Once you have those two things covered...then you can think about exercise.

I love popcorn so much I actually used to have a blog called the Popcorn Chronicles lol
It was all about where to go in the area I live for the best popcorn- which microwave brands were the best- which toppings I liked.... It's terrible! I really am willing to bet 15 pounds of me were all popcorn! And honestly- I'd be content to keep those 15 if the rest go! lol
I'm glad I will be able to enjoy popcorn again... I'm so glad I asked this question!

Hey Matt, I’m sure you’re all over the Vitamin d issue but just wanted to give you my insight. I’m on a once a month vitamin d capsule. In Australia it’s not for sale over the counter, you need a script and then the chemist has to compound it for you. It’s been great for me.

Yes I understand that it was a review of the patch. Just giving my insight into getting Vitamin d up in general, since the patch isn’t doing a good job on that. It’s a tricky vitamin and there have been studies showing a correlation between vitamin d deficiencies and obesity. I’m think a lot of people struggle with getting this particular vitamin up and it’s an important one.
