Please look at the following chart prior to getting discouraged. It really helped me gain perspective.

LindyPablo got a reaction from Leia in Tattoo
I have a few tattoos, and am planning a new one for after surgery (in June). I have one of those fat pads on my upper back, just under the neck... that will likely be the first area of fat to go adios, so I’m planning a large tattoo there to Celebrate.

I am about to head to the hospital for my surgery!!!

As most of you know, I have been struggling a lot with nerves and jitters... thank you all for helping with that!

I woke up this morning and said to myself, “Just look at this like it’s an opportunity!”

I feel much more zen about the next four hours of my life now. 😊

Hi Rose, i just celebrated my 3 year surgiversary yesterday and it's truly the best thing I've ever done for myself. Honestly i forget all the time that i had it done until it comes time to eat lol. Yes forever is a long time but it just becomes your way of life. You get used to eating smaller amounts and it just becomes your new norm. My sleeve still does exactly what it's supposed to and restricts me to about 2 cups of food or less in 1 sitting depending on the foods. Im also still very diligent about what i put in my mouth and i still have not gone back to drinking soda.

I don’t like the taste of yogurt either but I do like it in my shake. I bought the Oikos Triple Zero yogurt and a few of the latex ice trays and filled the ice trays with the yogurt and froze them. When I make my shake I add a few cubes. Gives it creamy texture, extra Protein and since it is frozen it makes my shake supe thick and cold without it being watered down.

Yes I have them. Try ice, going for a walk or gently pushing in on the spasm. sleep propped up. Heat may help too. It gets less after awhile.

Oh me too! I’m just over a week out and afternoon naps are my friend! I was never a napper pre op. I find my energy runs out fast! I think that is totally normal.

Glad you're doing well, I've seen others talk about the fatigue following surgery. Not surprised, you just had your plumbing totally rearranged! Thats bound to take a lot out of a person. Rest, give your self time to recover. Great job!

Had RNY on Tues. Pain is much better (yay!) and getting lots of fluids in (yay!) but today I feel SO fatigued, like I cannot stay awake. I’m sure it’s a part of the healing process, just curious if anyone else has felt intense fatigue?

I used to be soooo scared of anesthesia until I had a gyno procedure in January... and now I love it, lol! It’s so amazing to fall asleep (you don’t even realize it’s happening) and wake up knowing it’s all done. Don’t let the anesthesia anxiety get to you. Focus on the positive outcomes and try to wake up ready to be positive. Staying positive helped me a lot on Tues when I had my RNY.

Had my RNY yesterday afternoon. Wasn’t mentally prepared for the internal pain... Wowsa. But everything looks good so far, and I’ll start drinking Water in the morning tomorrow.

Thanks for all the posts on this forum- I’ve referenced many of them over the past year and am grateful to have this place as a resource!

We've been where you're at. Hopefully, with all your newfound knowledge, you'll be able to help others who are just starting the process and need a kind word, some helpful advice, or a belly-hurting laugh.
I'm happy for you. And proud. People here won't judge you in the same way people that people outside of this "community" will. We stick together.

LindyPablo got a reaction from Frustr8 in more post-op pain than i expected
Man alive- I HEAR YA, SISTER! I didn’t expect such pain. Luckily it has gotten markedly better now on day 3... Until they pulled my drain, which sent my entire abdomen into muscle contractions for about 10 minutes (I was a sobbing mess). This surgery isn’t for the weak! But we are tough... hang in there. :)

I will pipe in. I had RNY September 6th 2017 and I never had a problem. Yes there were times at first that I either ate too fast or two much and instead of feeling miserable I decided to throw up. It didn't come up on it's own, I actually had to use my fingers down my throat but after it came up I felt so much better. I haven't thrown up in a couple months now, I have tried to throw up after eating too much but it just doesn't happen.
I was on a 1 week pre surgery liquid diet but with the Protein Shakes I never felt hungry. I actually lost about 25 lbs that week. After surgery I was on liquid diet for about a week and then moved to soft foods for 2 weeks and then ate what ever I wanted as long as it was all Protein. 1 month after surgery I was told to get off the protein shakes and eat normal foods.
The last 4 months I have eaten 4 oz of cottage cheese for Breakfast, a Lunchable (just the meat and cheese) for lunch, an all protein snack when I get home from work and then normal food for dinner (just a smaller portion). I choose to stay away from bread, Pasta, and potatoes (I do have them occasionally but not very often). I don't eat much fruit or vegetables I depend on 2 chew able Bariatric Vitamins and 2 Calcium capsules to get my nutrients and have done very well on my blood tests.
My diabetes is cured, I used to take 6 injections a day to control it. I am off my blood pressure medicine and high cholesterol meds. I am also off the omeprazol that I took for gerd. Currently I do not take any prescription medications.
16 years ago I blew my knee out for a 2nd time and was told I would never run again. I hate to prove the doctors wrong but 3 weeks ago I started running again. My first run was a little over 3 miles in 40 minutes (non stop).
I started out at 265lbs and for the past 4 months have been at a steady 193lbs. I wanted to get to 165lbs but to be honest I could care less if I ever get there. I feel great, look great and am very happy with my life.
The RNY surgery was the best choice I have ever made, I would do it again in a heart beat.
