NYCRN reacted to TakingABreak in Ladies! I'll let you in on a little secret!
So if you are like me, often times I buy something and it sits in my closet and by the time I realize it, the expiration for return has passed. I've been doing something a little different lately. I've been buying all my transition clothing from either TJ Maxx or Marshals. They accept all clothing, even without a receipt, as long as the tags are still on. Therefore, I leave the tags on the clothes until I actually wear them. And if I found that I shrunk and they are too big, NO PROBLEM! I just return them for store credit and get something new. I also don't feel hesitant in buying clothes that don't fit yet, because I know that I don't need to worry about the return policy. The best part about it is, they have super cute clothing, especially Marshals. They have 1x-3x (14/16-22/24) in plus size and obviously the standard women's sizes. I find a lot of tops there for around $10, which happens to be cheaper than Walmart most of the time.

Men, while we understand that you may be curious as to what is going on in the powder Room, Alex and I respectfully request that you refrain from posting in this forum. The purpose of having a room for the ladies is so they may post about subjects specific to woman only, and feel comfortable in doing so. Many times these are sensitive issues, and this should be a safe place to discuss female related problems without the fear of being judged or being afraid that their issue may not be taken seriously. We will be, in turn asking the same of the ladies in regards to the Man Room.
    Thank you for your cooperation.

NYCRN reacted to MACPOWER in Joined To Meet New People That’s On The Same Path As Me
So I joined this Bariatric Pals Community thinking that it would be awesome to talk and fellow people that are going through the same thing as me. But for some reason I find it hard to join in on the conversations. I feel like I’m butting in on other peoples conversations. Like who’s this newbie trying to talk to us? Does anyone else feel that way? Or is it just me? Because Im definitely not that way in person. I’m always talking to everyone around me no matter who it is. But for some reason I feel differently on this.

Right, but your response was to ask him if he was a diabetic... and then to advise him what to do if he is one.... Maybe just respond in a general answer. I wouldn't be giving diabetics specific advice. Are you a diabetic? I'd be more qualified than you probably. Either way, I wouldn't think of telling someone who is a diabetic to fast between meals because it will burn more fat. And lets face it, its not all about weight loss. If you don't manage your blood sugars right, you might have lost the weight to fit into a smaller coffin.

I'd be careful giving people this kind of advice. Diabetes, especially the type 1 that I have, is a serious beast to manage and unless you are a Endocrinologist, I'd steer clear advising people of when to eat, and when not to eat. It can be life threatening for blood sugars to drop too low from a long fast between "meals". I've lost 95lbs since Jan 1st and I am a diabetic. I think I'm doing something OK, even though I'm not burning body fat during more hours a day than an non diabetic.

NYCRN got a reaction from Frustr8 in Depression
I just downloaded this app and joined this forum for this very reason. I’m 9 days post op and feeling very depressed. I’m single and live alone. I had friends taking care of me for the first 8 days and now that I’m alone I feel worse.
I realize now that I ate out of boredom. I feel like I don’t have food to comfort me. It’s almost like losing a friend.
I’m also not having a great deal of success getting my Water and Protein in. I just pray it gets better.
Thank you for your post and sharing. You can talk to me anytime

I totally can relate. I had my sleeve on 4/23/18 and am happy with being able to wear smaller clothes but I am having such a hard time trying to get my Protein in, trying to get my liquids in, and eating slowly. I know I'm not drinking enough liquids. I'm not a huge Water fan and used to chew gum while I drank water which helped me drink more but I'm not allowed to have gum so if I'm getting 24 ounces of liquids a day, I'd be surprised. I'm not a big stevia fan. I try to eat a scrambled egg or some chicken or fish and I must be eating too fast even though I'm chewing the food up well. I probably get 4 or 5 bites in and I'm done. I haven't lost any weight this week and I know it's because of not being hydrated, etc. I don't know how to deal with this and it's making me so sad and depressed. Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

NYCRN got a reaction from TexasMommy80 in 5 weeks post op
I’m 5 weeks post op too. I feel pretty good except I get a little fatigued faster than before surgery.
I’m 20lbs down since surgery. 32lbs since my pre-op diet. Started at 192 and currently 160.
I do get scared that I’m stretching out my pouch. It seems I always eat until I have discomfort in my stomach. Trying to learn to eat slower

I actually feel better myself. I too wanted to go back to work next week but my boss said I can't come back because I have restrictions. My doc wrote that I can't lift anything more than 15lbs at work for 4 weeks post-op. Otherwise I feel ok. Glad to hear you are doing better

Today is my first surgerversary! I've been in a 3 month stall. With RNY, I accomplished my loss without any strenuous exercise (due to a heart condition). I'm 25lbs away from goal weight and I feel great!

It’s almost like I feel the liquid hit my stomach and then being stretched. It hurts for a few seconds and then leaves. No heartburn feeling

Ugh! It is the worst! But I guess they are getting our New stomachs ready for their new adventures lol! The hunger is what freaks me out, I long for a mashed sweet potato! I am from cape cod and I HATE fish so that's out, plus tilapia is literally the garbage fish of the sea, it is not good for you admits the only kind I "like". Blended chicken for me.

This is really good to see for me, actually. I am one week post op today and I'm not craving bad food or anything but I'm craving food i can chew! I've been on only liquids for 21 days now, and I have at least 8 or 9 days to go before I can go to blended food (per my dietician/surgeon) it's a long process with us. I'm soooo envious when i see other VSG peeps get to transition to blended foods so much earlier than me! i almost gave in but I'm persistent to stick with the plan every step of the way. The thing is too, I feel hunger pains/pangs. It is not head hunger, it's a constant gurgle with the feeling we had pre-op with feeling super hungry. I even upped my PPI. I pray this will go away. So it takes me like an hour to drink my shake, but my stomach hurts with hunger like ten fifteen minutes later! I hope with real food this will go away. I cannot and will not fail!

I'm 3 week post op and it use to happen to me a lot. Everything seems so amplified after surgery. I don't think your stomach is strecthing. It's still swollen and making adjustments But if you have reservation call your doctor.

It's totally normal to be an emotional mess right after surgery, between the anesthesia and pain meds and just the rapid initial weight loss, which flushes hormones through your system. The first month or so, I would just randomly start crying at absolutely NOTHING, like just mid-sentence when talking about something mundane. It was super awkward and annoying, but it passed.
Edit: I should note that this was the case even WITH being on an anti-depressant.
