  1. Hi Jen! I think forming a little group is a great idea! I'm basically in the same boat. Vsg 3 years ago, never got to goal and have gained 10/15 lbs over the last year and a half. I also have pcos and am pre diabetic. I am having a hard time getting back on track and I want to lose about 25/30 lbs. I could really use the support/ motivation from people that are in my shoes.

  2. Where in MA are you? Have there been cases in your city yet? I'm in Gloucester ma and I know we have had people asked to work from home where I live but there have not been any confirmed cases. But I also know that there aren't many tests and if the symptoms are cough and fever a ton of people could be walking around with it and we would have no idea. My son has had a cough and fever over the past couple of days and already had the flu so I know it's not that. The symptoms are so frequently seen and there are so few tests that we really won't get accurate numbers. From everything I've read we shouldn't worry if we are washing our hands etc. yet now we have a state of emergency? I'm just confused as to whether or not we should be worrying? I'm getting allot of mixed information. I don't know if by not worrying and stocking up on things I am making a mistake?

  3. Technically if you stopped drinking and didn't change anything about your eating habits you should lose 1 to 1.5 lbs a week. A bottle of wine has about 600 calories and you need to burn 3500 calories to lose a lb. So you're taking in an extra 4200 calories a week. So if you cut those out you should lose at last a lb a week. But for someone who is drinking that much and trying to stop you may find yourself snacking more or wanting sweets which is going to cancel out some of those calories. I suggest buying some sugar free hard candies to have on hand if you need them. Coming from a family of alcoholics I urge you to get help if you need it. Don't let it t

I didn’t join the board until much later, I’m going to try and find the original thread tonight. I hope everyone is doing well. I remember thinking it was a bad time of year to get the surgery for some unknown reason, now I think it is a perfect time of year. It is so nice to be healthier this summer. I had surgery 8/13/18. I hope it’s ok if I chime in now.

I didn’t start taking pictures until recently, here are my April-June comparisons. I took the first picture when I joined the gym. I’m close to my goal weight, I just haven’t decided what that is.

    You look amazing!

  5. Yes I'm just like you. My original goal for myself was 160 (I'm thinking about changing it to 150). So from my highest I only had between 95 and 105 to lose. Now that I'm so close to my goal it had really slowed down. I'm really frustrated with that sometimes because I see shook many others with huge losses I just have to keep reminding myself that it will be a little slower for me because I had less to lose.

  6. My surgery was 6/4/2018 so I'm at 9 months and ive lost 46 since surgery and 76 total. Its different for everyone. I feel the same way when I see how much more others have lost but my doctors have said I'm right on track or a little bit ahead of where they want me at this stage at each appt. It all depends on how much you have to lose as well. If you only have 100 lbs to lose its going to take you longer. Are you comparing yourself to someone who has 200 to lose? As hard as it is try not to compare yourself to other people's journeys. You will get where you need to get if you stay on your plan :)

  7. My 2 week liquid diet I was only allowed to have a specific brands of shakes that I had to buy through my pharmacy. Other than those I was allowed sf Jello and broth. I couldn't have yogurt or anything like that. I made it through without cheating once. Most of the shakes were sweet and I am more of a savory person so my saving grace was a trick I learned in a bariatric fb group. Yellow mustard. They said it helped cut cravings and it really did! I put some on a spoon and basically had a little taste at a time if I was craving normal food. I started using this probably at the beginning of week 2 and it got me through :)

  8. I was sleeved June 4th 2018 and i have had a sip of seltzer Water a few times and I've had a beer it took a long time to drink. You will burp allot but it doesn't hurt. Not for me anyway. But definitely uncomfortable burping probably 5 times per sip lol. I have not tried soda but it would probably take me An hour to drink one so it's not worth it to me. But I don't think it's a big deal to have a sip every now and then I wouldn't recommend regular soda though only diet.

  9. I have pcos and was able to stop my metformin the day before surgery and I didn't have to resume taking it at all. My program wants us to be on birth control though as they don't want us getting pregnant for at least 18 months post op. I have an iud so that wasn't an issue. Why do they not want you on bc?

  10. I'm feeling the same way I'm scheduled for June 4th and I'm freaking out thinking about my kids if something goes wrong. I've honestly just been researching to make myself feel better to see the actual statistics of something bad happening and house minuscule they are. And talking to my husband, sister, counselor and whoever else will listen to me about it. I'm so scared but I keep telling myself it will be like 2 seconds to me and I'll be awake and everything will be over and done with. It will be ok. You will be ok and be an ascribe energetic mommy for your kiddos. good luck tomorrow

  11. Hello from Arizona!

  12. Thank you! I know it will take extra work on my part. I've been doing 2 Protein Shakes, and 1 meal a day for 2 months already along with lots of walking and the gym. That's what worries me I'm barely losing now so I'm so afraid that it won't work :/ I guess I'm just having pre surgical jitters lol. But I know that this is what I have to do so I'm going to do it and hope for the best and work hard.

  13. Hi everyone. I have a date of June 4th for a vsg and I have pcos and I am prediabetic. My surgeon told me I may not lose as much as other people because of these things. I was wondering what people's experiences have been with their pcos and this surgery? Especially those of you who are also pre diabetic/insulin resistant. How much did you lose? Did you stall a lot? Did your pre diabetes resolve? Were you able to come off of medications let lower your doses? Just trying to get a Better picture from people who were in the same boat as me starting off. Thanks :)

  14. So are they your children? Did you adopt them together? If that's the case then why wouldn't you want to help support them regardless of what she may have said? $60 a month is less than most people pay a week in child support. Why is she receiving a stipend for adopted children? Are they officially adopted or is she their legal guardian? Maybe it's different where you live but where I live if you foster a child you would get a stipend if you become their legal guardian you still get a stipend but if you adopt a child they are your child now and your responsibility. Sorry just seems like a confusing situation That's why I'm asking all these questions. I don't know what any of this has to do with her adopting another child though. It seems like such a random amount per month that she's asking for too. Is she trying to prove she has a specific income so she can adopt another? Seems weird to me. Her adopting another child has nothing to do with you. I would consult a lawyer about this if I were you.
