I can confirm that Moon Cheese Cheddar tastes EXACTLY like Cheez-its. And it's not some highly refinded junk.. it's just freeze dried cheese.

Goodwill and thrift shops are good places to shop if you are transitioning and don't want to spend bookoo bucks on a new wardrobe JS.

Hi all. Day 3 post of for me today. These boards have been so helpful. I have a lot of family and friend support but I felt alone in the beginning. I am doing well...tolerating Jell-O and fluids. Taking a lot of pills and those make me a little nauseous but other than that the pain is manageable with walking and pain meds.

I never thought I'd meet goal....and I'm literally one or two really big poops...from being at goal. LOL. A little over seven months after surgery.
Honestly? I thought I would have the average sleeve experience....and lose about 60% of my excess weight...and end up around 210. I'm a realist. Ending up with average results....sounded great.
The really hopeful part of me wished for onederland....I didn't really dream past getting just under 200. That seemed too amazing to be true.
To reach 170 in under eight months? it's surreal and bizarre to me. I'm shocked daily.
Once in a while we beat the odds. Who knew?

I've actually had to get rid of new clothes I've bought, because they've outgrown me now as well!

I'm at the same place. It is difficult, but then I remind myself that I physically had my stomach cut to help me. I don't want to go through this again. I am adding some of the yummy summer fruits with my Protein although now I only have a few bites of watermelon because I am full. I am no longer diabetic and that really motivates me. Best of luck to you. Remember this is a journey. You can do this.

I have watched a box of cheezits sit in my cupboard for months. My mom and daughter love them.
Ate one today to see if I was missing out on something special.
Bleh! You guys have gotta be kidding! LOL...different strokes for different folks for sure!
    But I get it.
I had to flush a bag of cinnamon imperials...because they sing to me. I know, I know...gross little cinnamon candies...how in the world could THAT be tempting? No clue, but I love them with a love deeper than a smother.

I had vsg 4 days ago. I’m glad it’s done and over with.. but now I’m having such bad nausea that I can barely function. I *almost* vomited just now (how is that possible when there’s nothing to vomit)?!

my surgeon gave me zofran and it helps a bit.. but holy ****. This is NO joke. It feels like my stomach is contracting. Is that the gas I’m feeling? I’ve read there’s a short period of “regret” or “what did I do to myself”.. and I’m definitely there right now. I’m generally a super upbeat and positive person. But this has got me waaaaaay down.

I guess I’m just needing some reassurance that this is going to pass and I can actually handle it. I’m so miserable!

Call your doctor and talk to them?
2 months out you should be well into being healed up (not fully, the typical range is 6 months to be totally healed) but you are healed enough that it shouldn't be an issue. If you are following your diet still, and you know it's not a specific type of food that you can no longer tolerate, you should check in with your PCP / Surgical team.

I'm still trying to figure out how my doctor's office managed it, but the day of my final nutrition appointment...about three hours after I'd left the office....they called me with my surgery date and time.....which was about three weeks away.
It could be that they're so used to working with my insurance company, they figured it was a shoo-in?
But yeah...I got my date that same day....and about a week later in the mail, I got my approval letter.
The patient navigators and insurance people at my group submitted everything...I had nothing to do with the process. I just did what I was told, went to the appointments I was told to go to...and they did the rest.
I feel for folks who have to do a lot of the leg work themselves and suffer through hold-ups. Wishing you a speedy expedition.

I discovered the same thing about 2 weeks ago (sleeved 6.5.18) and it really scared me. Then someone from this forum explained to me that there is a catch to this surgery and the reason it is not as easy as everyone thinks! The catch is that, as you learn to eat more slowly and consciously, you leave enough time to make more room in your stomach. So, if you are a grazer like I have always been, you will be able to eat more if you don't get away from food and find something else to do right away! I discovered that this surgery was a tool for me to lose some weight pretty quickly (down 27 lbs since 6/5) but I am forever going to have to be careful, journal what I eat, make Protein a priority, and exercise. This is not a magic cure but I have also experienced more than once what happens when I don't eat slowly, drink while eating, and graze - not fun! Hoping that knowledge will help me be a success at this!

I have had mostly supportive people. It is very true when you can sense it in people's tone when they voice their concern or opinion. To those "Debbie Downers, I think "Just be happy for me for Christ sake, I'm getting healthier"! Ready or not here I come

The pre-surg diet sucks. Was much worse than the surgery for me. Post surg diet sucks, too...but at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel!

Experiences vary! I was STARVING after surgery. Could eat my own leg off kinda starving...it was awful. Hunger didn't let up until I was eating 1000 calories per day....at around 3 weeks post op. After I hit 1200 per day, no more hunger:)
Ghrelin be damned, some folks still get very hungry when they're eating starvation levels of calories. I know this sucks. I hope each of you is lucky and don't draw the hungry card.

Right on, J! Interesting coment about those who disapprove most are themselves overweight. Sometimes people want to pull you down to their level rather than appreciate your success and focus more on themselves.

I may be oversimplifying things but if people have an issue, I don’t waste my time on them anymore. I did this for my health and it is the best decision for my health that I have ever made. I am no longer on blood pressure medication, no longer pre diabetic and no longer have sleep apnea. I have more energy for my Wife and Children and our home life is much better because of my surgery. If people have an issue with that, I don’t want anything to do with them. Interestingly, the people who have openly voiced their disapproval are overweight themselves. I know it’s hard to deal with the negatIvity but do what’s right for you and trust that it will all work out. Best of luck!
