    I get it
I do spend more on groceries, more produce and Protein powder, bars, etc. aren't cheap. But I spend a lot less on dining out and home delivery. Net net, I'm sure I spend less overall. I wasted a lot of money in the beginning with liquids, pureed, soft foods I stocked up on but didn't eat. Also I wasted money on protein products that I couldn't stand the taste of. So buy as small of quantities as possible to avoid waste.
One savings is on clothes, after you replace your wardrobe of course. Regular size clothes are cheaper than plus size. Plus there are a lot more options, easier to bargain hunt.

I don't think you're going to be able to get a good financial ROI on this. But is that what WLS is all about? Can't you justify it by improving your health? Feeling better? Does that not hold value?

Sighhh lord help me.. my surgeon is good looking, making me have a crush! Not married lol.

Ok I need to focus. Just finished my pre-op appointment! I have to be on their diet food for 4 weeks before my surgery. I will need to lose 14lbs which should be fairly easy on this diet ha.

Getting very excited for this journey!!!

Watching a bariatric surgery being done on Youtube gave me serious respect for the liver shrinking diet.
The surgeon is working SO CLOSE to your spleen when he/she does a bariatric surgery.
Spleens are terrifying. They bleed if you breath on them wrong...and they bleed dangerously.
Giving my doc plenty of space to work around an organ that resembles a hemorrhage hand Grenade with a loose pin....is extremely purdent in my mind.
Reducing a fatty liver is also good for anesthetic metabolism and general recovery.
Also...doing the liquid diet gives you a psychological clue what you're in for. If anyone is gonna find not eating intolerable and have cold feet...better they reach this conclusion before surgery...than after surgery.

@Herewego2018 Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I am on the 2 week -pre op diet as well. My surgery is July 25th. I can tell you Syntrax Nectar is some pretty decent tasting Protein Shakes. I believe the cheapest is actually bariatric pal. I've been updating my profile status with updates of how each taste. I ordered the variety samples (17 FLAVORS) and some have been "meh", and some are very tasty...but to each, his own.
I also have had the pure Protein Bars. They are very good! The chocolate caramel is delish! As for the clear diet post op, my hospital included a grocery list in my weight program book. If you want me to share, I can. Best of luck to you!

    One kinda funny thing....
I keep raiding my daughter's closet. All those cool clothes I bought her that she never really liked...are MINE! LOLOLOLOL.
She has this one really awesome dark brown leather fitted blazer that I want...but so far she keeps clutching it and glaring at me.
"You can borrow it Mom. BORROW! Buy your own damned clothes, Woman! OH MY GOD, are you wearing my underwear?"

@churchgirl You have the mindset and your new "tool" , make it a habit and your new way of eating and you will be fine. I had my initial VSG 10/2012 and years out. I too was a grazer. I say "was" because I am less than 2 weeks away from my revision and I'm not looking back. Something that was written in my hospital program and holds testament, "eat to live, don't live to eat". I just need to convince my brain to get happy neurons somewhere else

Revisions from restriction only to restriction and malabsorption are common. I'm a Band to Bypass revision myself. Reasons will cover a wide range of situations. Maybe someone ended up with GERD after the sleeve, or they lost some weight but plateaued out and couldn't lose more (like with a lot of folks with the band did), maybe the sleeve didn't "work" (IE the person didn't change their habits enough or figured out how to eat around the sleeve), maybe they had complications that required the revision. There are quite a few reasons. But all of them fall into one big category "something didn't work right the first time"

Are you using an app on your phone? Logging is effing annoying, but no other way around it to keep track of Protein goals, etc? Do you check your bank accounts? - same concept!!!
Use Baritastic, ot LoseIt, or myfitnesspal or a small notebook - it doesn't matter which one, it's just a habit like brushing your teeth. Or take pictures of your small plate of food - easy peasy lemon squeeze-y.

Hello! My surgery is scheduled for July 30 (eeeek! yay!!), and I'm starting my pre-surgery liquid diet/"liver reducing" diet on Monday!
As many of you know, it's a pretty limited list of what I can eat and how many calories I can eat. I go back and forth between feeling like I can do anything for two weeks and feeling daunted and nervous about actually sticking to it. I'm trying to do my grocery planning/shopping this weekend so I can really hit the ground running on Monday, so I wanted to check in with those more experienced than I to see if there were any tips/suggestions/etc. for how best to prepare and stay motivated throughout the two weeks!
Just curious if there was a product that was a "life saver" or essential for you in the pre-surgery period, or a habit or tool you used that made a big difference for you, or something you wish you'd done/known going into the pre-surgery diet and going into surgery in general!
    Thank you in advance!
