toodlerue got a reaction from learn2cook in Day 4 of conversion to bypass and MAJOR hernia repair
Don’t give up! The 1st few days can be pretty bad. I remember thinking the same thing. That was 5 years ago.
Just do what you can. Always have a Protein Drink, Water or even tea next to you. Take a little sip every 5 minutes. All of those count as Fluid right now.
You will feel better once you get to puréed & then solids. It just takes time.
Try Cortaid or an anti itch cream on your incisions if you need it.

I have nothing to offer but a hug. Try to take a short walk in the sunshine.

It will get better. I remember thinking “What the hell did I just do to myself?” We have just put our body and mind through a lot it’s gotta get used to everything.

toodlerue got a reaction from BigSue in A New Chaper
Your insurance might not require a waiting period but they might have several of things you have to do before surgery. A psych eval, meeting with the dietitian so many times and meeting with your doctor several times before they will approve surgery.
You’ll probably have to have another sleep test since yours was over a decade ago. But sometimes they are done at home. You wear a monitor for 1 to 2 nights at home. From that they determine if you have sleep apnea.

toodlerue got a reaction from Blessd1 in How long to see improvement?
Your body has just been through major trauma & is still healing & adjusting to your new normal! It’s gonna take a couple of weeks. Listen to your body & don’t do too much too soon!

I’m confused. When did you have surgery? March 29th was yesterday.

toodlerue got a reaction from Jillian K8 in What does 'feeling full' mean to you?
That sounds awful! Your poor tiny tummy. It’s probably your tummy being worried that is gonna come back up too. Take small “bites” of pudding slowly & a couple of minutes apart & see if that helps.
I hope you feel better soon!

toodlerue got a reaction from Aneubeginning in Post op Upset stomach
It might just take more time. Try again in a few days.
For the 1st year my daughter couldn’t eat chicken without it upsetting her tummy. Now she has no problems eating anything! She is 4.5 years out. The only problem I have is getting sick when I eat too much! I am 5 years out.

toodlerue got a reaction from Tomo in Solid foods - did I eat too much?
My surgeon said to not eat more than 3.5oz of food so I always weigh my food when I’m at home.
If I do eat too much I’m miserable & have the through up sometimes.
I’m almost 5 years out.

toodlerue got a reaction from Tomo in Sleeve revision to bypass 2/6.
I had a bypass & use the patch Vitamins. I am almost 5 years out & haven’t had any problems with blood work.
I take enough meds/supplements as it is & don’t want to add another thing to swallow.
I know they are expensive but totally worth it to me.

So happy for you! We will be here for you as you prepare & after the surgery too!

toodlerue got a reaction from Lisa XO in How fast can you eventually eat?
I’m almost 5 years out. Sometimes I have to remind myself to eat slower because my 3.5 oz of food can be gone too quickly. Sitting down (not standing up at the counter) & putting my fork down between bites helps a lot. We eat at the couch a lot (it’s just me & my husband) so I cut all my meet up before we sit down. I really have to remind myself to slow down then!
When I’m done eating I will swish some Water in my mouth & swallow. It helps to get the taste of the food out of my mouth & any little partials that may be hiding in my teeth out.
BTW: I still weight my food when I’m at home. I don’t go over 3.5 oz. I know if I eat more then that I will be uncomfortably full & have to lay down!

toodlerue got a reaction from DrinkMoreRadium in Why so many sleeves
My daughter & I both had bypass. We both have GERD & that is the only way to go if you have GERD.
She started at 305 & lost 150 lbs & has kept it off for 4 years.
I started at 200 & have lost 70lbs & have kept it off for almost 6 years.
A lot of people have the sleeve revised to a bypass because of GERD.
What does your doctor recommend for you?
