toodlerue reacted to Separ1418 in Is my experience atypical?
I had surgery on Monday, it took 4 hours, I spent two nights in the hospital. I was “up and walking” on Monday night but it HURT to do it!! I’m home now and sore.
I guess I thought this would be the norm, but there are so many people on here that were so much less affected by surgery- out of the hospital hours later and almost no pain reported.
I had no complications but this was HARD. how many other non-super humans are out there?!?😂

toodlerue reacted to Frustr8 in Is my experience atypical?
well another atypical, many of my. surheons bypass patients are on Stage 3, I'm on Stage 2 and not always doing well. Would you.like to trade your post surgery pain for a pouch that upchucks every time you brush your hair or decides I'll let you eat that pureed item today but I reserve the option to upchuck 2 teaspoons tomorrow. My plan folder says don't watch tV or engage in conversation when eating. I have sat at my kitchen table facing the wall, I have sat quietly by,myself, with my Baby bowl and small spoon, I have taken 30 minutes with my fairly tasteless gruel, lonely enough I could cry, I am a social being, after all. Done all these things as told. Sat quietly, and OmG , grab the Barf Bag, they sent me home with a stack,of these blue critters, now I would have preferred a stack of 1 ounce medicine cups, I think they jinxed me! And no sympathy from anyone who actually knows, they are in two camps First camp You asked for this , you deserve what you got! Yeah but I elected meal size restriction, not to fertilize the front lawn with emesis! And the second camp You are a BIG GIRL , you can stand to,lose some weight! Yeah, I guess so but I am making,up for the Post surgery immediate pain with a very sore upper chest walk pain, burp and yep was never my scene! How do bulemics stand it? Maybe they don't notice the pain.
So we all have our non-superhuman moments. I hope my problem resolves, don't really yearn for another EGD and balloon dilatation, just fearful as days go by it looms in my future. You've heard the Flintstone commercial 2 million strong and growing? You'll locate me under the title 3 weeks along and urping!
Yours very gingerly--- Frustr8

toodlerue got a reaction from Frustr8 in 6 weeks out, now ready to eat "normal" foods...Questions inside
I ate Meatloaf made in my insta pot during the soft stage. I didn’t have any problems at all. The insta pot makes The meatloaf so tender & juicy not at all like when I would make it in the oven.
Everyone is different you have to figure out what your body can handle

toodlerue got a reaction from E.S in My incisions are itching
Yes! It means they are healing. I have always put a hydrocortisone cream on my stitches when they started to itch! I had major back surgery 5 years ago. Image having a 20” incision down the middle of your back start itching! I used hydrocortisone on that too with no problems! Just make sure your hands are clean!

I’m at the same place you are. My surgery was May 16th. I have only lost 25 since surgery, but 35 since Jan. That’s when my doctor counts it from.

toodlerue got a reaction from Frustr8 in Problems with gas
I had A RNY in May. I don’t have problems with gas at all. I’m constipated most of the time & I’ve read that that’s normal too.
Everyone is different after surgery so who knows what your body will do.

Talk to the supervisor who’s name you have! Something isn’t right. I’m don’t think anything is fishy, i just think no one knows what they are talking about!

I feel the same way, I take A stool softener every night, use Miralax or prune juice every couple of days. I buy the enemas by the 6 pack!
Try to drink more Water.
I’m almost 2 months out.

toodlerue got a reaction from Auroragirl4489 in Sleep Apnea *FML*
I have Slept with a Cpap for over 12 years. Put it on every night. It takes some getting use to, but I find that most people aren’t persistent & give up on it to easily & too soon.

toodlerue got a reaction from Frustr8 in Let's hear some normal poop stories
I’m constipated all the time! That’s my new normal. I’m only 6 weeks out so I’m not eating a variety of foods yet, I’m too scared to do that. I just keep taking stool softeners & Miralax which takes a couple of days to work.

toodlerue got a reaction from Jpsl1028 in Some questions
When my primary 1st suggested WLS he put a notation of all the things that would justify me having WLS in my chart. sleep apnea (I have used a clap for 13 years), back pain, joint pain, depression, GERD, trouble walking. So when insurance asked he already had all the bases covered.
I saw him this week. He was very informative & wants to see me a month after my surgery.
Toodles,
Rue

toodlerue got a reaction from Saddy in I’m getting a bypass despite the fact I have a sleeve done
I too have an uncontrollable sweet tooth. I had a RNY a month ago. I constantly have to over come the temptation to not eat sugar!
I have to to remind myself “Nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels!” It’s my new mantra.
I’m just tired of being chubby. I can feel my body getting worse from extra weight. I want to feel better, I wanna get out and do things! I’m tired of sitting on the couch!
I guess you have to get to that point yourself & decide what is important to you. Maybe your not ready to make that big of a change.

toodlerue reacted to dathvick in How do you respond?
I was diabetic before surgery also, at one point in time my A1C was over 11. I was taking the following every day to control it;
4 Metformin (pills)
120 units of Lantis (2injections)
3 injections of Novalog
Victoza injection
A total of 6 injections a day before surgery. As of now the only medication I take for the diabetes is one injection of 25 units of lantis before bed (and I am slowly decreasing that).
Getting rid of the diabetes was my primary goal of having the surgery. The surgery also cured my high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I am off all prescription medication now except the 1 small injection a day of lantis (insulin).

toodlerue got a reaction from Frustr8 in Has this happened to anyone?
I was like that the first 2 weeks. Now I at one month out I just have the nausea & I’m tired if I have done too much the day before.
When was your surgery?
