consuelo73 got a reaction from Frustr8 in H. Pylori Question
I tested positive also for H pylori and it cleared up after I took the antibiotics for 2 wks. I didn’t have any symptoms either. They told me H pylori is pretty common and a lot of people have it and don’t know it. You should be fine. Wishing you the best of luck.

Today was my 4th day post op and I have been doing excellent! However today was the first family dinner we had and it was a real wake up call for how hard this is truly going to be. While everyone was having tacos, I’m drinking Protein Water. I’m happy that I finally got my sleeve but it is so bittersweet, because I did not realize how huge food is in our lives. But I made it through! And I’ve lost 2 pounds this week! And I’m thinner than I have been since 2010. Cheers to a new beginning. ️

I find myself doing a lot of research before I buy anything. I feel very happy with my latest haul. What have you bought or plan to get to better prepare yourself for this journey?
I also got my new oversized sweats to leave the hospital in.

Just my luck! So much for everything going smooth. Yeah, I was told it could take a couple of attempts to get rid of. I’m just praying it will go away first attempt. Wish me luck guys please. [emoji17]

I’m so happy and relieved, saw the psychologist on Friday and I passed!! I was so nervous and didn’t know what to expect but once I met her I was fine. She made me feel comfortable. So, things are moving along for me. I see the nutritionist on may 9th. Has anyone heard of H-pylori? Apparently I tested positive for that. Sucks! I’ve been on antibiotics for it and I have to test again through the stool. Not looking forward to that part. I was hoping everything would go smooth but I’m guessing this might slow down my surgery date. I’m so ready to have surgery. I hate waiting. I’m an impatient person. Anyway, hoping to get a surgery date soon.

Hang in there hun. I know it can be boring and can make you think of all the OTHER stuff you'd rather be eating, but it's such a short time compared to all our years of weight struggles. Find some distractions (I'm gardening more than ever at the moment as want all autumn stuff planted before surgery 2nd May), add whatever flavour/variety your plan allows for.
    You can do this!!!

hi there! I just had the duodenal switch 2 1/2 weeks ago. my surgeon told me this was the best operation for me and that is the most successful one. He says I will be in a size 6 before I know it!
So far I have had no complications, I am losing about 1- 2 lbs a day . I am feeling better now. First week was rough. I still cant lift anything or do anything strenuous yet. Good luck to you in whatever decision you make! If you have any questions on the duodenal switch ask me anytime!

I dealt with this situation that you described while I was on the pre-op liquid diet. It means being in contact with your endocrinologist. I recommend contacting him or her about a week prior to beginning the pre-op diet. My endo told me to stop taking Victoza and insulin the day before the diet was to begin. She explained to me that both medicines will drop me too low. Instead I remained on Metformin for the duration of the pre-op liquid diet. So I would recommend you contact the prescribing doctor to let him or her know what's going on so they can make adjustments. Have you let the doctor know about your recent lows?
Post-op, my endo also pulled me off of Metformin because she said it is no longer necessary and will only cause diarrhea and painful cramping in areas effected by the surgery. My endo was right and my diabetes has been effectively cured. It feels so good to be without 3 medicines for blood sugar control and 3 medicines for blood pressure/cholesterol. My friend, you've got nowhere to go but up.

Oh darlin' I'm sorry but I'm even bigger than you. Would love to be your size, I stuck out in a crowd of cousins on my daddy's side like a big dumb goose in a company,of mallard ducks. I'm 5ft 8in,323 lb , strawberry blonde hair hazel, green eyes and 72 years old. I'm hoping to have RnY surgery within the next couple of months. I would really like it to be May. I'm in sorta hold status but hope the gears start turning April 25th when I have a psychological appointment with Dr Kramer at Martha Morehouse Pavilion in Columbus Ohio. This is at OSU-Wexner Medical Center where I hope to have my surgery. I have gone through the complete program at another Center of Excellence hospital. Wasn't aware,i had completed all requirements the first time, had my job terminated, had to change insurance company. Plan#2 didn't require all the things for approval, they failed to notify me of this, so I thought there was no hope of finalizing it. Returned in Autumn 2017 to try again, redid all prerequirements and completed them in January 2018, was waiting to be notified of a surgery date, instead the 3 surgeons in the practice had themselves a little meeting and then decided not to perform my surgery.
Cried my eyes out for several days then picked myself up, dusted myself off and decided,to,persue surgery at another Center of Excellence hospital which,OSU is and has been since the rankings we're first instituted. This was the first place laprascopic surgery for Bariatrics was, performed in Central Ohio and among the first in all of Ohio. Very cool place, in fact my 2nd child and 1st son was, born there. Wild coincidence, when I called to apply i,was still,it their files and my son had been born there in 1976. Linda, the phone receptionist said Welcome Home and then called me by name.I was absolutely shocked. I attended a Introductory, seminar at Martha Morehouse a building in the OSU medical complex. Liked what I heard so signed up March 9th, 17 days after program #1 had kicked me to the curb. Was on,pins and needles for maybe 8 business, days and then they called to grant,me the April,25th appointment. See all my credits(for lack,of a better term) transfer to any other C of E program I at least got the sons of Seabiscuit the Horse to grant me that. So depending on any other requirements, this particular program has, I either fulfill them or go directly meeting the surgeon and receiving my surgery date. I hope it is the latter because,i feel i am extremely prepared for the whole thing, and don't need further instruction. And that's where,i stand.

Welcome consuelo to Bariatric Pal. Yes it is exciting to be starting, it is a big life changing thing you have undertaken. Won't always be easy, you may end up with bends and curves on the journey. There may even be times when you feel ready to give up but you won't. The victories in your life outweigh anything bad. I'm a little bit farther along but haven't gotten my date as yet. If things smooth out for me I'm thinking May or June? Although I'm in rather a holding pattern I'm still eating, better and more, low calorie than my former diet. And I don't eat or even desire Desserts of any kind anymore. I feel like I'm still in training for the Weight Loss Derby, just taking longer than I like. Ask any questions you may might have, if I don't have an answer someone else on Bariatric Pal will. You're in the middle of a world wide group of nice helpful people, and each new person is special in all our eyes.
