I have these same fears and am also hoping to have surgery in October or November. I honestly am also just plain scared of having surgery (never had it) But so many people have done amazing! I know you will too!

i love this! You are so right! I often get stuck in the fear of the side effects. But honestly i need to remind myself that the side effects of being obese for your whole life are a whole lot worse. I am sorry to hear about your struggle but i am so happy to hear you have beat all the odds!

Hi all! I am in the pre op phase for vsg. I had my blood work and EKG done a couple weeks ago and was told that my EKG was "abnormal" so I was referred to a cardiologist for clearance. I have to be honest I am freaking out. When someone says your heart is abnormal that isn't the best news. I would consider myself to have white coat syndrome. When I enter the hospital my heart pounds and I get severe anxiety. I am wondering if this may have thrown the test off. I have never had any symptoms of heart issues I don't think. Just need someone to talk to, maybe someone has had a similar experience and can help ease my mind. I am seeing a cardiologist tomorrow morning after waiting 3 weeks but my nerves are at an all time high. Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app

That is amazing! ive always been interested in the EMT field but as ive gotten older ive gotten more and more scared so i went into drafting instead! Good for you! that is a hard job! The cardiologist did another EKG and i basically have very little to no t wave is what she said. She told me it is common in younger people and i had nothing to worry about! Everything else looked perfect. Thanks for the reassurance! i love this community!

oh crazy! She didnt consider me to have bradycardia but for someone my size, shape, ect my hr is low. My heart just beats a little different from what i got from her showing me my EKG haha I have the heartbeat of a "younger" person is how she explained it. My t wave is very flat often seen in children. But she said there was no issue with that and it was considered normal. So that is good to hear!

No i totally understand and agree with you. I think this is the main reason insurance requires this is so you can be in this mindset before surgery. My surgeon is pretty strict and will not do your surgery if you gain weight or are not trying before hand. The sleeve is just a tool and not something that is going to be a save all. You still have to work at eating better and battling those food "demons" I am a big emotional eater. But ive been overweight my whole life. So i am truly hoping this will help! I love this community it has made this decision seem way less scary and way more exciting! also your 166 lbs down! Killing it!

Well guys, the cardiologist did an ekg and said i do have a variant in my heart rhythm but it is completely normal especially for younger people (im 27). Because i haven't had any symptoms or anything she didn't require any other testing and said i was fine!

Thank you so much! According to my fit bit i also have a slow resting heart rate (58)... who knows how accurate that actually is though. Although i would find it hard to believe that it would be slow during the EKG cause of my nerves! I am trying my hardest to not worry! All of the advice and kind words really help! I love this community. I am glad to hear everything with yours was fine! I've also been lifting a lot of weight most of my life ;D i must be an athlete!

oh my gosh i am so sorry. I cannot even imagine, well heres to hoping mine is not something like that. I have an appointment tomorrow at 8am no worries there i am 100% getting it checked. Its just scary.

Right, that is totally what I am thinking too. But the fear of the unknown is terrifying. My husband keeps reminding me that even if something is wrong I need to get it fixed. But I'm just scared. I have major anxiety about health issues [emoji20] I sure hope it isn't something bad and they made me wait forever haha! I don't think your being dismissive! Meeting with my surgeon Tuesday. I'm terrified I am going to go through all the motions of surgery and then I'm not going to be successful in loosing weight. Anyone else have these fears? I am at a 43 bmi and I'm just scared it's not going to work... H 5' 2.5" Cw 238 Gw 145

I am so happy to hear you are doing well. Although you can tolerate everything I am sure the portion is much much different than what it used to be. I've never had therapy but I am sure I can totally use it haha. Can't we all? Yeah the insurance process is pretty grueling but I am getting there! Thanks for your kind words. I agree I know what I need to do and seeing so much success and positivity makes me feel like I am making the right decision. Keep Rocking it! It sounds like you are doing awesome so far!

Amazing I am so glad your husband is doing well [emoji171] that is amazing to have someone to go through it with! It can be scary but I am so excited I have been chubby my whole life and a truly feel like this is the best decision for me. My husband is a lucky duck and has been small his whole life. But that is ok he is amazing and super supportive with my decision. I am still going through the pre reqs for insurance to pay for my surgery. How have things been since you have had the surgery? I've never had surgery or been put under before so I am unsure what to expect!
