I had gastric sleeve surgery 5 years ago. My gastric reflux has recently got so bad that's the acid burns into my ears. I was given a lidocaine solution that would help with the burning pain in my throat. I spoke to my gastroenterologist about a procedure I saw online for the reflux. She said I didn't qualify so I went to see the doctor that did this procedure who happens to be a bariatric doctor. He explained why I was not good for the procedure because I had a stricture in the esophagus a hiatal hernia. Due to the gastric sleeve the acid is being forced up into my throat. The doctor wants to do a bypass which should relieve that pressure. I am going for an upper GI tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone else as experienced this. I am new here I do not go on social media so I don't know my way around I will try to find my way back here.

At my Primary Physician appt, the Doc said you know you lost a whole person. When you started seeing me you were 265lbs now you're 148lbs.
She's right... I lost the fun me 😂 Joking Joking Joking. It's amazing who keeps track when you don't like insurance and browsers feeds

Hi Everyone,
I am so glad I found this site. I go for my last dietician appointment on Tuesday, September 4th. Then they will submit it to insurance. I am turning 60 on September 30th and I have battled my weight all my life. I want to eliminate or have better control of my health issues. I have diabetes, sleep apnea, acid reflux, high cholesterol, etc.
I can’t wait until I can schedule my surgery. I am hoping to have it in October.

My Surgeon asked me a question the other day and i didn't give it a lot of thought at the time.
He asked "do you tell"
we were talking about peoples reaction to seeing me since i lost such a large amount of me.
I answered that i do tell if they ask but that it seems most everyone is afraid to mention it if they haven't seen me in a while or they decided they already know the answer so they don't need the truth from me (we all know those types)
I have had exactly one family friend come right out and ask me how i lost so much weight this year and i told her i had Gastric Sleeve.
I am sure family has passed it around to other family (you have that type family don't you? or is it just me)
So that left me wondering "do you tell" and i dont mean right at surgery time. more like a year or so down the road do you say how or do you just say cut out the sugar and carbs and WAALAA
Its a real personal choice to open yourself up to that kind of criticism and we know all about how we took the "Easy" way and yada yada yada.
hope everyone is having a great week

Yesterday I "officially" eclipsed the 100 lb mark. I'm sure if you're in any other country than the US, the 45.3 kg mark doesn't sound as much of a milestone, but it's very cathartic for me to post that I hit it.
I recently read back through both my BP status updates and my private journal and hitting this milestone makes all the things I "worried" about seem stupid, but I know they're not stupid because they were very real at the time. Also, I think if I didn't give these fears my full attention, I may not have been as successful as I have been to date.
I'm about 50 more pounds off my end goal and I know that will not be the end, I will continue to strive for bettering myself in both physical and emotional ways. I have to hunker down and get this done.
I'm noticing if I don't exercise every day, the weight loss stalls quite a bit. I'm not really into the 80/20 theory with diet and exercise, I think there's a genetic modifier that needs to be applied and it's different for everyone, just my opinion... don't hold it against me.

ok, I know it proves me as weird as some of you always thought but this was a fun site to kill time on.

Yup, I did it! I RAN my SECOND continuous 5K ever this morning! There is an option to do a 10K Sunday morning and I'm going to give it a try. It's basically the 5K twice. Even though this is a girls' trip, I kinda wish Mr. was here so he could witness my awesomeness.
@FluffyChix, no it wasn't on the beach nor was I wearing a bikini, but I think I should get bonus points anyway, just for doing it a second time 😎

Just saw a YouTube vid about Beyonce's health routine to prep for Coachella: She was 175 lbs. I now know where I need to stay under... the Beyonce weight limit 😂

I just took another flight for work on a non-american airline (fun fact, their seat belts are shorter) and i had to take a pic I was so proud. I'm only 4 months post-op and I'm down almost 100lbs from the first surgeon consult later year in September.
The whole trip while away I worked out on the eliptical for a full hour every night. It felt great to be able to sustain for that long.

slow and steady wins the race. don't get discouraged and just keep at it. Let your sleeve do its job and try not to stress yourself out.
hope you are all having a great summer and enjoying what your sleeve has given you.
just got back from a wedding in OR. and man am i afraid to get on the scale
