Amen to that!! I wished somebody would have told me that years ago! They all have good jobs and can financially take care of themselves, but when it comes to eating and me, it’s like when they see me they think food!! Even my grandchildren when they see me it’s like GeeGee we’re hungry (not)!! But I have to take blame for most of this, I have connected food to so many things in my life, as many of us have and that’s what they think about when they see me!!! I will be 49 on May 29th and I have 4 children and 4 grandchildren (ages 8, 4, 18 months and 15 months!! It is great but can sometimes be overwhelming!! But things are changing!! This Journey has already made me have to look at my life and my habits, some good and some that have to be tweaked and some that have got to go!! Thanks again for your response, great advice!!

Hey Jessgnc , that’s a great idea and I don’t blame you!! My husband is like a little hurt kitten!! This 6’4” man tries to act tough but is really a spoiled brat!! Now don’t get me wrong he works hard everyday and he helps me cook (he loves grilling) but that day it was like they was coming at me from all sides with, “what you cooking, what you cooking.” I just had to put my foot down and let them know don’t ask me that again for awhile!! Y’all are grown and cans fend for yourselves and for the 2 grandchildren that live 100 yards from me!! I just looked at them and said y’all know how to cook and drive, momma is on strike until further notice!! Thanks for your response, I’m sure the bachelor eating brought back memories for your husband, but I’m sure he’ll be glad when you’re really able to join him again!

Elforman believe me I have tried!! It’s not that they can’t cook it’s that they always depended on me (which is totally my fault) to cook the meals!! I agree hunger is a great motivator and believe me they have found their way around the kitchen and my husband around the grill since I put my foot down!! I should have done it a long time ago! Sometimes many parents, like myself, do so much for our children, we handicap them!! I’m learning many things about myself during this journey! Thanks for your responses!!

I’m on the 18th

My Hisband doesn’t want me to have the surgery either, but like I told him I’m doing this for me, my health and my family (including him). I have 4 grandchildren and I want to do whatever I can to be around to be their GeeGee! Now I told him I love you but I love me too!! Believe me I have always been the person who just goes with the flow and not rock the boat to cause an argument, but over the last few years I have found my voice and I’m gonna use it to take care of me!! Surgery scheduled for May 18, 2018!! I live in Alabama, about 20 minutes from the Georgia line so my Surgery will be in Georgia!!

You actually asked many of the same questions I’ve been wondering!! Am I doing the right thing? How will holidays ever be the same (considering I do most of the cooking)? Maybe I should try one more thing before I do the surgery? I also let my head get wrapped around what others are saying: your not that big/ your BM is not high enough/ your not trying hard enough to do it yourself/ it’s all in your head/ you’ll get to little and you’ll look sick/ I love you the way you are/🤦🏻‍♀️[emoji1496]‍♀️[emoji86][emoji31]!! I want to scream look, I am 48/49, 5’4”, HW 243, BM 42.2, HIgh blood pressure, borderline diabetic, sleep apnea, bad knees and lower back pain,and to top it off I can’t bend bend down and tie my own shoe without losing my breath!! HELLO!!!!! My surgery date for gastric bypass is May 18!! I wanted to do the sleeve but with acid reflux disease and my love for sweets the sleeve was not the best option for me!!

I am excited and nervous all at the same time! Have different opinions floating all around from family and friends! Some say you will feel like s new person, others say your crazy, others say your not that big! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I am scheduled to have gastric bypass in May and I am worried about thinning hair also, I’m also afraid of sagging skin!!
