Hey everyone! I start the mushy food stage next Tuesday and also the no Water before, during and after food (30-30-30 rule). This seems like a lot to remember since I’m so used to having liquids right now. Anyone have challenges with this? Figured I would ask before I got started.

    Thanks!

I'm already 16 days out and still feel pain from the incision where the doctor took it out.. I always carry a pillow around to help get up and turn in bed and I hold that spot whenever I sneezed or cough...

Don't go out buying a whole new wardrobe yet because you'll blow through the sizes fast. I even SKIPPED sizes! I somehow went from a 32 in pants to a 26 in pants to a 22 in pants to an 18 in pants. In shirts I was a 6xl then a 4xl then a 1xl and now I wear an xl or 0xl. Buy clothes off the clearance rack until your weight loss slows or it'll just be a waste of money. I'm lucky in that most of my clothes are from family members.

You *just* had surgery. You are gonna have some pain.
The left side is where they pull your stomach out (assuming you had a sleeve). Even with laparoscopic surgery, they still cut through the muscle. It's sore and painful for a while, and if you're doing too much too soon, you can strain it a little, as well. The farther out you go, the better you'll feel, but I occasionally (even seven months out) still have muscle pain from the spots where I had my incisions.
Now, if it's hot to the touch, if you're running a fever, or any signs of infection, let your surgeon know. If you're still worried about it, let your surgeon know. They're there to keep you safe and to tell you when to go get checked.

I was allowed to walk right away. I was cleared for everything else except for weights at four weeks out. At eight weeks out, I was cleared for weights.

That is dependent on your surgeon, they will have their own guidelines, but generally walking probably is okay as soon as most people are up to it, for more strenuous exercise and weights/resistance training wait for the go ahead from the surgeon.

You had surgery less than two weeks ago. Don't do anything now that will put your health at risk, If you try and stretch your stomach while it is still healing you may cause a leak, this can cause serious illness.
You need to talk to your surgeon as soon as possible, I would also recommend you speak to a counsellor immediately (going by your very first post).

A fun thread! No matter where you are in your weight loss journey, what are some of the things you WON'T miss about being fat?
    I won't miss:
Wearing black stretch pants every day b/c they were the only thing that fit.
Avoiding social situations (high school reunions, etc!) where I might run into people that didn't know I was fat.
Chub Rub! (even though it's my BP name!)
Hiding from cameras, and worrying about others posting pics of me on FB.
Worrying if I would fit in the airplane seat.
    Crying in the shower.
Going to back to school night and watching all the skinny moms sitting at their kids desks and looking perfectly comfortable, while I tried to squeeze one butt cheek on the chair.

I'm sure I will think of some more, but here is my starter list for now!!!

In the same boat. My husband cooks for the kids and I have to see/smell macaroni, pizza, Pasta, and Cereal. I have chewed a few items and later spit. I'm also a good week away from pureed foods. You can do this!

I had a lot of trouble getting enough Water the first few days. Even drinking 3 ounces per hour made me feel like I just ate Thanksgiving dinner. The good news is that they pump you full of IV fluids at the hospital, so that will help prevent dehydration at the beginning.
I'm two weeks out now and I can drink water at a reasonable pace without feeling stuffed. You are doing it right by sipping throughout the day. You don't need to worry about set meal times until you start eating actual food (pureed stage), and at that point, you'll have to wait 30 minutes after the meal to drink anything (some programs also say no liquids 30 minutes before the meal).
As for the pain when the water hits the pouch, I was told it is fairly common to have cramps or spasms in your stomach, especially when drinking cold liquids. I was given a prescription for hyoscyamine to help with that (which I took for the first few days, but I haven't had any more issues after that).

You are doing great!! Baby sips for now, and just keep sipping throughout the day. Right now your body is still healing, so no need to worry about anything else right now!!
GOOD LUCK, and welcome to the rest of your life!!!!!!!!!

You probably have some swelling at the top of your stomach from the surgery. I had terrible problems swallowing & was constantly bringing up saliva the first three days. Take things slowly. It doesn’t matter if it takes hours to drink your fluids at the beginning. Of course, if the pain worsens, contact your surgeon straight away.
    Good luck.

Constipation? Water retention? PMS? Most people's weight fluctuates by a couple of pounds - sometimes for no apparent reason. I have about a 3 lb range.

This might be a silly question but why do you think you're doing something wrong? 1-3 lbs of variation between days is totally normal, based on how much Water you drank/got rid of, whether you pooped the day before, etc. Don't sweat it.
This is why I never weigh myself more often than weekly.

I got up and marched in place watching TV pre-op (and post op to get rid of gas bubbles!!). That way, I wasn't so bored and I was still moving. Ended up getting 8000 steps a day doing that lol

I've just been told to do some walking around during my pre-op, I've lost like 10lbs in a week by just sticking to my pre-op diet and walking a bit. 4 more days until my big day.
