    Hiya,
Has anyone experienced very dark cloudy urine out of the blue? It seems to happen on days I’m not doing good with Water or like today I spent a few hours at the beach and then came home to a few hours of yard work and I know I’m way low on H2O.. but it looks like coffee coming out? Freaky.. anyone?

I'm almost 6 weeks out and just recently was released to pureed & soft foods. My doctor had me on liquids for 4 straight weeks. That was brutal. I completely understand your feelings because my biggest fear throughout all this is vomiting and getting food stuck. I didn't want to eat at first and was overly cautious. I'm discovering now that as long as I take very small bites and chew thoroughly I'm fine and actually enjoy eating. I ate a little too much refried Beans one day and that made be a little nauseous but that's about it. I know eating certain amounts of Proteins vs carbs vs fats is important, but I don't get hung up on the numbers. I know I'm not eating like I used to and the weight is coming off quickly and I feel good.

If it's very dark it can mean dehydration but can also be a sign of kidney stones. Mine went very brown looked like coffee or Cola. Maybe it needs checked

OK, Im a little over 4 weeks post op Im down around 40 lbs, lost more inches than weight which is good. My issues are food.. i.e. am I supposed to be hungry? am I supposed to feel as I eat to know if Im full, currently if I get any feeling its pain and I know Ive ate too much.. I had one stuck/puking episode and I never want to eat again I would be happy never eating again but damn I run out of energy... currently I can eat mashed potatoes, pop corn chicken, turkey sausage, real good pizzas (dough is made from chicken, google them) Im frustrated because one one hand I dont want to eat but the lack of energy sucks.. one the other I need to find better food choices but Im (after my puking episode) too chicken to try new things... I see others eating pastas and things they said would swell and to avoid so this adds to my confusion.. my biggest fear is eating too much and stretching out my new stomach.. I go to the gym 4 days a week, do Protein Water every day and trying to get in my 64 oz of H2O... seems like a full time job just doing this... help!

Great...you wanna share what your nutritionist added for you?
Also, great job getting to gym👍🏼
I find easy fast Protein to be yogurt, cheese, shrimp (keep frozen and take a couple out, thaws in Water quickly), hard boiled eggs, deli meat, and I made mini egg casseroles in mini muffin pans, froze and microwave 2 for quick snack.
I haven’t gotten sick...I really chew, wait between bites, and time myself to make sure I’m eating slowly.

Urine that dark means your kidneys are struggling to do their job with minimal water; you can cause acute renal failure. In fact, that's the only time I've seen urine that dark; my husband was in acute renal failure from severe dehydration.

You’re dehydrated! You need to drink- urine should be light yellow to clear if your getting enough fluids

Creekimp13 is right. You are dangerously low on fluids! It may take days to get you back to normal.

You need to drink more. You could be getting dangerously dehydrated. You do NOT want to end up in the emergency room. Your water bottle is your friend.

Gosh I feel your pain! I'm right there with you too. Still trying to figure it all out. I'm 6 weeks.
The biggest thing for me is that I'm following my surgeon's and RD's plan and not eating something just cuz others are eating it.
The most frustrating part of all has been determining what quantity (volume or by weight) you should be having at each week of progression.
My RD finally broke down and said 1/2c volume made up of about 1.5-2oz of Protein and .5-1oz of veg. And if there's room left, then to have some low glycemic fruit (bite or two small). Also, at first I was doing soft foods and am now cleared for everything. You may still be on softies? If so, just cook the hell out of your veggies and eat moist protein sources.
But I've not risked it by adding the fruit. I do include some slider veg like a grape Tomato and 1/3oz of avocado with dinner and seem to tolerate it.
You have to make yourself try new foods. Go slow. Stick to known foods that are ok--and only add new ones every couple of days.
Sorry you puked. But Welcome to the boards!

I have the same issue. I weigh and measure everything and resolve that no matter what, I won't go back for seconds--even if I don't feel full.
I think some of us were used to chasing that "full" or "over-full" "stuffed" sensation. Ironically, that comes from engaging part of the hair cells in our duodenum, not really our tummy. Those "may have been removed? Or are part of the remnant? Not exactly sure of the true science behind that.
I've also read that our nerves have all been cut, so sensation now isn't what it will be in 2-3months down the road?
I also just listened to a doc on YouTube talking about knowing when you've had "enough" after VSG surgery. I would think it would also apply to us RNYers. He said, the second you feel like your hunger is extinguished push away from the table and plate--regardless of quantity. Well, I don't have that fine-tuned yet, but I'm going to start today to listen for "when is my "HUNGRY" light switched off"? If it's sooner than the amount on my plate, I'm going to push away.
Last night I ate (did I mention I weigh and measure everything?) 2.13oz pan sauteed shrimp + 1.23oz steamed asparagus + lemon wedge + .5oz avocado + .5oz Tomato wedge. I had a clean plate. Was satisfied, not stuffed, and literally could have eaten 1-2 more shrimp cuz it tasted so dang satisfying...
I feel like I overate despite my whole meal being 142cals; 13g protein; 7g fat; 5g carbs; 1g fiber; 4g net carbs; 1g nat. OCC. sugar.
I'm 4 weeks + 1 day out. I hear all these docs saying at 4 weeks, you're sposed to be satisfied on 2-3 bites--eating 2tbsp of food. And I'm like, I want to call BULLSH*T on that dudes!!! LOL.

I don't let my surgery affect our families 'getting together' for special occasions. I do the best I can, based on where we are. At brunch, I ordered a chicken biscuit, and just ate some of the chicken. At a burger place yesterday, I ordered a cheeseburger without the bun. If I can take leftovers home, I do, but if I can't, I feel a little guilt about wasting food, but not too much. I might munch on an onion ring or a French fry, but I don't beat myself up, and am thankful I have my stomach to tell me to STOP when my head would tell me to keep going.

It's life. If you enjoy it, you can find a way to work it in. Do an extra workout. Order seafood, or other lean Protein. Leave the carbs on your plate. Enjoy the company and the occasion more than the food itself. Don't feel guilty.

One thing I miss, is skipping lunch, in order to eat more at dinner. Our family loves dining out on special occasions and I used to skip lunch to have extra room for dinner. Can't do that anymore.

Glad you know you made a mistake and hopefully you are able to push forward without beating yourself up too much.
I would advise you to stay away completely from ice cream for now...doesn't matter how low in calories or sugar they are. You are only 2 weeks post op and it is just too early for stuff like that. Buy a low calorie sugar-free popsicles instead. Sugar-free Jello is a good snack option as well. In order to be successful in this journey, one gotta be super disciplined and exercise self control at all times because it is very easy to slide back to old habits.
