    Family eating your food!

I'm definitely trying these next time we have Taco Tuesday. At my house it could be tomorrow or Saturday and just like your blog, it's still Taco Tuesday.

So with the slices of cheese, do you cook them the same as the shredded cheese? And I can't remember how you shape them.

Tips for getting your fluid in?

Yes, we have the Maxwell House, which is a hotel in North Nashville. They have a lot of conventions and high end dinners there. It's right beside on of our housing projects.

Tips for getting your fluid in?

I was told black coffee is considered fluids and if my protein shake is made with water that is considered fluids. I drink about 4-5 cups of black coffee with stevia and at least one protein shake I got at GNC made with water because I don't like milk made shakes because they are thick and when added to my protein powders, it has a weird consistency and taste. Now that I have an infuser bottle, I drink lots of water. I was also told no straws because of the air.

    Journey Begins 10/22/2018

Congrats on starting your journey. I know when I first started, it seemed to take forever for the actual surgery to happen. Now the journey getting there and the 6 months after my surgery has went by in a blink of an eye.

    Family eating your food!

I can't wait to try these. I don't know why I didn't think of that since you can make chips out of cheese. I tried making parmesan chips and those tasted horrible to me, but maybe the mozzarella shells would be yummy. Thank you for that recipe.

    Family eating your food!

I have to cook separate dinners because I cook for my hubby, myself, and my 2 young boys ages 6 and 8. It doesn't bother me when they eat what I eat because when they like it, that means I can make a full meal for the whole family. I've also learned to cook some of the things they eat where I can eat it. When we have Taco Tuesday, I use ground chicken or turkey instead of beef. I give them the shells and I eat it just in a bowl with added pico de gallo or just red onions topped with a little low fat mozzarella. When I cook for myself, some meals I'm able to freeze some so I have meals when I need one instead of eating the same thing for days, I have variety.
  8. I had to get IV fluids a few times in the beginning and when I was dehydrated, I felt worse than ever. I was very tired, cranky, and it made it harder to stomach anything going in my mouth even popsicles and plain water. I'm not able to eat pork or red meat except deer meat until I'm a year post op. I know that when I first ate soft foods like eggs it didn't sit well. I was also trying to eat like I normally did with a normal size bite and as fast as I used to. But I realized I had to take tiny bites, chew, chew, chew, and take my time eating. If you are dehydrated, once you get back to rehydrated even if it's by IV, you have to stay on top of it. But it is normal to think you regret it. I did for a little bit and now, even though I felt like I went through hell, it has been well worth it. I feel the best I've ever felt and I'm still only 6 months post op.

    Post op hunger

I was and am still like that if I eat slider foods. If I drink a protein shake for meal replacement, I could chug it with no problem. I am 6 month post op. I will end up ingesting more than I should and feel nauseous and over stuffed. When I freeze my protein drinks and make it slushy like, it's harder to inhale and I make myself take time to drink it. I've made myself take about 30n minutes to eat my meals and for instance last night I had 1 scrambled egg with 2 tablespoons pico de gallo and 2 turkey sausage links. I let my hubby take a bite to try the sausage and then by the time I finished eating I had to give my dog the last bite of the last sausage. I took about 25-30 minutes to eat it. If I would have inhaled it, I could eat it all and want more of something. When we give our tummies and brains time to talk to each other it works. When we rush it, they get discombobulated.

    Pre surgery monitored diet

Mine was 6 months with other requirements. I tried looking online for my insurance requirements, then I got off the electronics and did it the old fashioned way and called. I would suggest giving your insurance company a call and ask them what their requirements are and then ask where you can find that in maybe online or in an insurance handbook or whatever they are called (where you can find approved meds, doctors, and what is covered and what deductible you have)

    Why only liquid

Our new tummy's need time to heal and my Dr said he wanted liquid to give it time to heal and not take a chance of getting a leak. I've seen some people on here came home eating soft foods. We are all given different advice and directions for post op. When I follow my Dr's directions, I feel better physically and then mentally. When I'm not getting my protein or fluids, I'm sluggish and of course not losing the weight like I"m supposed to.

    Vitamins

I am able to swallow bariatric friendly vitamins now and even after week 1 post op. I am 6 months post op now. I didn't take the swallowing ones long because I couldn't tolerate the brand I had. The taste was horrible. I've never tried journey brand, but I've realized after surgery I'm really finicky about tastes. Before, nothing bothered my stomach and made me feel uneasy. See if you can go to that company's website and get a sample. I was able to get a sample of one that my Dr office didn't have but recommended and suggested since I've tried a few and couldn't stand the taste.

    Pre op Liquid Diet

I had a super hard time when I was on my 2 week pre op. I would start the day good, then cheat all day. I did do my day before bowel diet to clean out my stomach. I've still had a hard time eating right these last 6 months. but I finally got so mad at food controlling me that for a whole week I've ate awesome and even got in over 100 ounces of water a day.
  15. The only thing I do with mine is seperate them after a few days. I palm roll from time to time but other than washing them, I don't mess with them.

How much protein in my goulash?

I just saw a recipe for a stuffed bell pepper bake. it uses beef, white rice, bell peppers, cheese, garlic, and tomato sauce. I thought about doing it with ground chicken, bell peppers, mozzarella, garlic, diced Italian tissues, and quinoa

How much protein in my goulash?

I use Bariastic and I've put in my personal recipes. I love goulash and have never had it like that. Can you send me the recipe in my private messages?

    Sparta Whey Protein

So after I compared what I've been using and this, I'm going to stick with what I have. It's $10 cheaper and one less gram of protein, but I add a tablespoon of PB2. The chocolate one tastes like a Reece's. But if you order, you'll have to let me know how it is. I know when I just went in the store online, it was sold out.

    Post surgery downfall....

I am 6 months post op and I slid off for a bit and then I got angry at food for taking over me and being in control over me. I have to put my recovery over drugs/alcohol/food first or I can't be the wife/mom/friend etc. It's crazy living life on life's terms and doing what's right, but I have to be selfish or I can't be there for others.

    Post Op Medical Care

My PCP has been involved with me getting approved, so I still see her for my other issues. I see my surgeon every 3 months for a check up of the suture site and check my weight loss. He does labs now every time I go but that just started. The labs he does also checks to make sure I'm getting the vitamins recommended and if I need to add any or can stop any. His office provides weekly online meetings and face to face meetings plus I see a therapist once a month for my mental health issues and am involved in AA for my drugs and alcohol recovery. I see my dietician every time I go too and can call them anytime. These regular checks by my surgeons office is until I reach my goal weight. Then he will see me once a year.

    Sparta Whey Protein

They have a few other flavors I wouldn't mind trying. But that Apple Jacks sounds so yum. I can't drink them with any kind of milk. right now I have NitroTech Whey Protein from GNC. I had 2 different flavors from them. The good thing is I could try it and exchange it. I think BariatricPal does the same minus the shipping charge. I'm going to order Friday with my Multi Vitamin.

    Post WLS hysterectomy issues

Me too. I've had that before and that was VERY uncomfortable.
  23. Good luck and update us how you are doing. I'm glad you got it checked out.

    Post WLS hysterectomy issues

No sex the night or couple of nights before. No burning, itching, foul odors, or any other odd feeling. It was a one time dark red almost brownish red and then it was gone and has stayed gone. I had heard of ovaries producing hormones that could eventually cause a discharge of a small amount of blood like spotting. Like I said, I do have an appointment on the 1st for my yearly. I'm not really worried about it. I know blood could have come from my urethra or ureter from a kidney stone or infection. Not trying to be gross, but I don't know what hole it came from other than it didn't come from my anus.
  25. I had my surgery in April and I"m so disappointed I've only lost 45 pounds. No, I'm not always eating right or staying within my 500 calorie Iimit. I have an unhealthy relationship with food and I've been so angry because I can't and don't enjoy eating at all anymore. I have to cook my food separate from my families and things don't taste as good as they used to. Has anyone else been through this and how did you get past it?
