Seconding this. Even the mild sugar alcohols cause me to have a reaction. The only artificial sugar that I do not have an issue with is Splenda.

TreeMystic got a reaction from GreenTealael in I am scared to get GERD, please give me advice
In my experience, i had heartburn prior to surgery, now 3 months later no heartburn or gerd. Just don't eat late at night and realize some foods might give you that. Just be mindful and you probably will not have any problems. Everyone says it can happen i too was little worried. But things have been fine, i just dont eat after a certain time before bed and its been fine. Good luck think positive, and just make some changes in your eating habits , as you know you will already have too do.

Yes i did tell a lot of friends and neighbors. Now I wish I would have only maybe told a couple friends and my husband of course. I have had one neighbor who's a personal trainer ask me every time she sees me how much weight now? Okay im realizing that everyone you tell will look at you and the time frame from the surgery and think has she lost ? Or wow, she doesn't look like she's lost at all! ha Anyways only my opinion but if i were to do it again i would not ell anyone until they ask, 50-to whatever pounds later, and say have you lost weight?. Good luck , it's a personal choice, I think it can set us up for the old emotions of beating ourselves up again if we dont lose quick enough according to everyone else standards.

I love this one. Tons of Protein, spaghetti form is way better than Fettuccini, and straight-up edamame works for me.
Just toss it in a little sauce/pesto right out of the pot so it doesn’t clump, then eat with a dense sauce. You kind of have to 50/50 it, or even more sauce than noodles. But it’s filling and definitely hits my Pasta spot.

I would have liked to have known about the infamous Week 4 Stall, occasional other stall are normal and that I wouldn't be losing a continuous 1-2 pounds a week every single week.

TreeMystic reacted to FluffyChix in Need encouragement from slow losers
I had surgery when I was 55. My weight loss has felt incredibly slow in comparison to others. So don't compare. LOL. Cuz it's a major buzzkill. I have had to apply significant effort and focus to losing and had many, many, many stalls!!! But look at where I am now! In a little over a year since surgery, I'm closing in on Goal #3 of 130lbs. So the slow and steady race CAN still be won.
But, use this time very wisely. If you have crappy habits and a poor diet filled with SAD (standard american diet) but are eating it in small quantities, stop that behavior now! Cuz I swear, the honeymoon period is for WORK, not being indulgent. There is time enough in maintenance for indulgence. If you have high glycemic carbs in your diet, minimize or eliminate them.
Focus on your Protein. Keep carbs mostly bites of veg (when you can) and small (very small) amounts of healthy fats. Keep your calories low low low for losing. I promise you won't get stuck there.
Hang in there cuz you are in the 3 week stall area. Don't despair, you will lose.

I'm on week 3. My nut wants us to reach 600 calories a day. Today I aimed for 422. I am a bit under because I can never eat the entire portion besides yogurt in the am.
I log everything on mfp, as best I can.
I eat yogurt with Protein Powder for Breakfast. Oikos triple.
Mid morning i drink a Protein shape boosted with protein powder.
Late lunch i eat this lentil Soup i made. High protein tofu, lentils, Bone Broth, carrots, onions, celery, garlic, spinach, 1 tsp olive oil for entire batch, fresh thyme
Dinner: bibb lettuce, low sodium turkey breast, half a wedge of laughing cow
My nut said to measure by volume (2oz cup or 1/4 cup). Not by weight.
I weigh everything out to make sure i am hitting my protein goals.

    Oh and 2 SF popsicles

I'm not bemoaning the stall; I know it's part of the journey. HOWEVER, I would like to know from others at what point they stalled and how long their stalls lasted. And yes, I'm aware that everyone is different, but it's helpful to me to hear about the experiences of others.

You will be fine and everyone loses at a different rate, so don't get hung up on big numbers or get discouraged during stalls. Stalls are your body adjusting to the process.

I'm 11 days out and still have trouble getting fluids and Protein in every day. Some days are better than others. I've decided that I am doing the best that I can and I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I'm getting more in today than when I started. Baby steps for me.

Welcome! Sorry you are experiencing this!
Also be aware that sometimes Vitamins can make ya hurl! I always take mine on top of food (after I've eaten). At 5 weeks, I was cleared for anything, with the advice to progress at my own pace--there was no rush.
I supplemented my Protein needs to get between 60-80g per day using protein drinks--I wasn't lactose intolerant though. I know there are some good Proteins out there, but if you can handle mushies, I'd try if I was you, to get as much protein in as possible through real food: soft mushy proteins, well-cooked veg. And stick with things you know you tolerate, adding a new thing every few days.
Make sure you are also well-hydrated. Sometimes dehydration can make you nauseated (as can constipation)!! Yikes! So nauseated! But once you clear the block and get really well-hydrated, the nausea can often recede!
    Hope that helps!! Post often!

Yes, you'll still have some hunger, although it's different post-op, more manageable. The thing that's harder to manage is the head hunger, boredom hunger, nerve hunger, psychological hunger. Mine still needs work.
