You are not alone. I was sleeved last April. I'm glad you made an appointment with your nutritionist. It is easier to keep weight off if you react more quickly. I have gone back to drinking a big Water 3 times a day. This has helped with snacking. I also have cleaned out my pantry again, because those trigger foods were sneaking back in slowly. Remember, YOU are worth taking care of. Good luck!!

I have this happen whenever I eat rich food. It has taken me a little while to realize when it's happening. Now I stop eating at the first sign of ickyness. I also get what I call foamy. My body want to throw up, but only foam comes up. I feel terrible for an hour until it finally digests.

In the beginning your stomach is still healing and you will get a lot of growling. Are you drinking all of your Water and getting enough Protein? In the beginning I ate 5 - 6 meals to get in all of my protein. Try to spread out your protein all day as this helps keep you felling full longer. Also if you haven't, meet with a nutritionist and have them help set a meal plan. We are learning a new way to eat and our bodies are adapting. I learned that my stomach growling also meant my body was thirsty. Best of luck to you.

Talk with your surgeons. Go over ALL your options. Ask for his opinion on what would work best for you.

Consult with a few bariatric surgeons and get a cross section of views on the subject. Then, armed with that information you should be able to make an informed decision. By doing nothing, you're regain will not disappear.

First off, on the subject of WLS no truer words were spoken. I wish the surgeons would stress this much more. What a lot of people fail to recognize is the real potential to lose all of your hard fought weight loss. This is because you did not change your relationship with food.
I've learned that people with long term successes did two things (1) change their relationship with food. They now eat to live instead of living to eat and (2) they started some sort of exercise regime.
Supergirl, it's a journey for sure but one with many benefits. The good thing, if you work hard at it those benefits can last a lifetime. Good luck.

I know you are working out a lot and eating well, but are you maintaining your Water intake? I had a major stall after going to a trainer for months. I decided to try swimming and the weight started coming off again. I try to change up my routine whenever I start to stall and the change in activity seems to help. Best of luck on your journey.

domi got a reaction from Decaffer in 6 month post op, mental stall
This was and still is tough for me. When I get a stall now, I throw myself into a new activity. At 6 months I started to swim, this activity helped kick my body back into weight loss. I think I may try bike riding now. I also notice when I want more Snacks, I haven't been drinking enough Water. I am also starting to try new recipes and foods so I don't get bored. I also put a sign in my bathroom right on the mirror that says Take Care of Yourself, You're worth it.

So, I ordered a few clearance dresses for work because I am swimming in everything I own! I ordered an XL dress, and pulled the 18W/18’s out of the closet. The 18’s all fit!! The dresses fit! Feeling a bit adventurous, I went to JCPenney and purchased some work shirts! XL work shirts with room to spare!! This tool is amazing..... but busting my butt in the gym everyday is doing magic on this body composition!!

    Baseball Mom,
I had the sleeve surgery in June of 2018 & even before it, I wondered why I thought this would work because food was always my drug of choice in battling depression & anxiety. And, of course, 40 pounds lost later, I am right back to my old bad habits. I don’t eat til it hurts but I graze which is easy to do once you figure out you just have to wait until you’re not full.
So, I finally took some advice from people on this site as well as the nurse practitioner who made me go for another psych eval because I was “sabotaging” myself. And I’m so glad I did!
First of all, I don’t know if you’re taking meds but I found out the ones I take cause increased appetite & cravings for carbs! And the combination I take was actually making me functionally depressed but “flatlined ”. No enthusiasm, no get up & go! I just didn’t care! But in my head & heart I really do!
So first, talk to a psychiatrist- not your primary care doctor! You need a psychiatrist to evaluate & monitor meds.
Then I learned that I don’t have a “weight problem” as I’ve been told all my life - I have an eating disorder! I thought eating disorders were just bulemia or anorexia. I’m a compulsive over eater! And now I have started going to a counselor who specializes in eating disorders, my meds are monitored by a psychiatrist, & I’m attending Oveteaters Anonymous.
I was told before surgery that the sleeve was just a tool & I would still have to work at loosing but I figured that I hated vomiting so much, I would never mess this up! Well, once I realized I could eat normal food again, I started right back into my previous bad habits! So now I know, you have to deal with the WHYS first! Why do I eat the way I do? Why am I sabotaging myself? And the only answer to that is therapy! You really should get help, it’s the only answer.
Good luck & know I’m praying for you! I’ll keep you posted. Contact me anytime!
    Donna

I agree with the majority of comments. I actually got a counselor when I began my journey. I didn't gain weight until I was raped as a teen. Then I gained 100 pounds. food was my comforter. I wanted to be thinner but as it started to happen I had flashbacks of how I looked when I was raped.
Therapy is a blessing. Communicate with your husband. Ask him how he feels about the new you. I know some of the TV shows highlight men leaving, but there are men who honestly love you as a person and not your body. My boyfriend met me when I was 269. He pretty much likes me as long as I like me. Hear that again, men are most attract to you when you like the person YOU see in the mirror. Confidence is sexy. Hubba, hubba. LOL

Before I could eat fiber rich foods, I add benefiber to my Water. It is clear and has no taste. I still keep a togo packet in my lunch box for days where my system seems sluggish.

I am 9 months out and my hunger/cravings have been coming back slowly since about 7 months. I remember being unsettled and blue that food just did not appeal to me anymore. Now I would love that feeling back.
Point of the story is this, you got a limited amount of time to correct your brain and habits before the ghrelin grace period ends, then you fly solo.
I fail daily, but it's measured failure. I am usually an angel during the day than shove 5 Hershey kisses in my mouth right before bed. Best advice I can give is coffee--non Decaf if your stomach can handle it. It really does kill the hunger. Also for the salty cravings get yourself a steam bag of frozen edamame with sea salt and pepper. Filling and tasty with Protein and Fiber.
Stay warm and good luck! 🍀

domi reacted to Diana_in_Philly in BMI Goal: is your BMI goal to be healthy or overweight?
BMI is so screwed up. I'm down about 150 pounds. I weight 152. (I started over 300). I have not had plastics and would probably lose about 15 from that. However, according to the BMI chart, I'm overweight - I wouldn't be "healthy" (and at the high edge of it) until I hit 140. I know what I look like at 140 and I look stupid. (I'm very busty.)
That being said - I can deadlift 250 pounds, back squat 235 pounds. I'm ranked no. 24 nationally among women aged 50-59 fencing foil and no. 33 nationally among women over 40 fencing foil.
I wear small or medium tops and size 6 pants. I'm a lot of solid muscle and most folks think I weigh 125. BMI does not take into account mass from muscle and that muscle weighs more than fat.
I think I look damn fine right where I am.

I feel the same. I'm trying to concentrate on drinking my Water first like I did in the beginning. If i really feel hungry, I drink some chicken broth. I worked too hard to let this voice in my head (or my loud stomach) control me. One day at a time, 1 meal at a time, 1 bite at a time.
