I have three days until surgery and my scale is reading 300.6lbs. Trying to power through the last few days of the liquid diet to get rid of that last pound or two! 😀

Ahhh yes! I’m not worried about taking the ring out... but I am worried about putting it back in after! The last time I changed nose jewelry, it was a painful, frustrating, 3 hour ordeal.

I’m also nervous about the hole closing up, because getting it pierced was so stupid painful that I’m not sure I could put myself through it again if it closed up! 😂

My surgery is Tuesday and I haven’t packed yet... 😳😳😂

I think I’m bringing: some comfy clothes, phone charger, phone, deodorant, dry Shampoo, a fresh nose ring to shove in, chapstick, and maybe a hair band?

I’m only going to be in for ~2 days. Also, I only live about 9ish blocks from the hospital so I’m sure my partner or mother can bring me other stuff if I feel like I will die without it.

So my surgery is Tuesday, July 17th and I did my pre-op testing yesterday, July 11th.

However- this morning I received a call from my surgeons office that there was a mixup and my nicotine level test was never ordered and I needed to come to the office today to provide a urine sample, because they take a few days to get back.

Anyone have any experience with this situation? It’s a bit frustrating, because had I been tested at pre-op testing, they probably would have the results already... but now I’ve gotta wait and hope the surgery isn’t delayed.

Our department snack station is located in my cubicle, because I’ve got extra space. My manager already knew of my surgery plans, but today I sent a team email that said, “as some of you know, but most of you don’t, I’m having gastric bypass next week. So- is it cool if we relocate the Snacks? ”

This served to casually tell them something they would have noticed eventually and it got that delicious looking coffee cake someone brought in this morning the hell out of my face. 😂😂

And thank you! I feel amazing honestly. I can walk around without being winded or feeling back pains. It’s great!

Paperwork has been submitted to insurance for approval and I am on day one of my pre-op diet.

So. Very. Hungry. The food funerals over the last few days probably made today worse than it had to be.

I am 9 days out and starting to go from nervous to excited! I am doing my best to stick to the pre-op diet. I’d like to shed these last six pounds before surgery and hopefully the pre-op diet will help with that!

I finally formally requested leave from work, as my diet is pretty set in stone, provided that nothing comes up during pre-op testing, which is on Wednesday.

Wow! You all are doing great! I can’t believe some of the transformations and how quickly you’ve progressed in some of these photos! Congratulations! Must be nice to see the hard work paying off!

Got my date this morning! July 17th!

I have a weigh in on Wednesday and I *think* I may be at my goal? My highest weight was 380-390lbs a year and a half ago. When I started the Bariatric program in January of this year my weight was 339, I had lost 40 or so pounds from exercise and mild/inconsistent dieting. They wanted me to get to 322 to approve me for surgery. My scale says I’m at 316 now... but that’s my naked weight- so I figure as long as my clothes don’t weigh more than 6lbs I should be okay. My *personal* goal is to get below 300 before surgery.

The reason why I’m so focused on hitting these goals before surgery is I know my weight is a result of diet. If I can consistently lose weight before the surgery, it means I’ve started to really tackle the root cause. I have had some success- like now I actually prefer Water or no calorie Powerade to soda. I’ve gotten better at portions and self control. I’ve really got more work to do with meal planning and breaking up with my good friend the potato... .

Also- tbh the search function (at least on the iOS app) kind of sucks.

Rather disappointed in this string of posts. Maybe it’s because I’m new. It just seems to me we all need to be patient and remember what it was like to experience some of these fears. I personally don’t even know what I would want to search for at times so a repeated question or situation that shows up is new for me and I learn from it. Were I wouldn’t even have thought to search the subject.

It’s the place that makes my soul happy. I’m glad I was able to come again before my surgery, it provides me with some mindful peace before I start my new journey.

Congrats! And wow! The fact that you feel well enough to post right after surgery is calming my nerves some!

I quit nearly six months ago, which led me to the decision to pursue this surgery!

While I realize you can never say never, I really don’t *want* to be a smoker. It also helps that I hate the smell of smoke (yet I still get super jealous when I see someone smoking 🙄🙄).

I read a statistic that people who go a year smoke free have a drastically increased chance of never smoking again... so I just keep telling myself I just need to make it to that year.
