GigiNFortWorth got a reaction from Pammy_C in Revision from Sleeve to Loop DS
Hello, just looking for someone that’s going through their weight loss journey or already had it done, similar to mine. I guess a support person, only my fiancé knows I am doing this, but he doesn’t have weight issues, so I am feeling alone. I had the Sleeve 2 years ago, February 10 2016, my starting weight was 276 and about a year and a half out I was at my lowest weight, 198. I then found out I was pregnant and miscarried 2 weeks later at 8 weeks. Since then I have gained 30 pounds back, emotional eater. The sleeve didn’t resolve my type 2 diabetes and is much worse now. I met with a different surgeon last week and he thinks my best bet is to have the revision to the Loop/SADI. Has anyone done this and is happy with it or regrets it? I would love feedback, I just want to be healthy and not have to use 2 insulin’s 4 times a day. Thanks for listening. Sorry so long.

    Hello,
my surgeon is dr Ayoola in Denton tx... I didn’t have to wait for insurance approval since I am disabled and on Medicare, pre-approval is not required. I am a diabetic and the sleeve did not help me at all, also regained half of what I lost. I am so excited but nervous as well! The sleeve was a breeze, so Hoping this is just as easy.

Excited but nervous! I will be having a revision from the sleeve to the Loop/SIPS. My surgeon will be removing my gall bladder, fixing my hernia and then doing the Loop DS. Has anyone had all 3 of these done together? It just seems like so much! Thanks! 😊

I did this surgery to resolve my diabetes and that never happened. I chose the wrong surgery, my surgeon even advised me to do the DS or the Loop DS. Everyone is metabolically made up differently, and therefore the outcome of the surgery is different for each person. My A1C is now worse than it has ever been, so yes.. I regret having the sleeve.

I started with a BMI of 40, so my doctor gave me a longer common channel also. I was losing about 8-11 pounds a month to begin with. Now at 10 months, I lose maybe 3 pounds a month. I'm 20 pounds from goal, but it's the hardest weight to lose. The weight is still coming off nevertheless. Hopefully, I'll drop faster this summer when I'm more active. The BM of a DS patient is always interesting. They will never again be what they were pre-op, but that's the DS doing its job of keeping the weight off (not diarrhea but always soft). Yikes, kind of gross but we since we were on the topic, I thought I'd add to it. My recovery was pretty much a breeze. I had very little soreness. The Lap-band was lot more painful.

I did SIPS on 12/11 as my only surgery not a revision in the Chicago area. Very pleased with weight loss. Off insulin pump and only on 2 pills a day for diabetes. Lost 50% of excess weight in 2 mos. very pleased with my results so far!

Hey, I am from Russia and I am a DS patient! aww, that was the best thing in my life!
It happened on 10 May 2017, I was 147 kg, BMI 51, and now, I am 94 kg and BMI 32 Just imagine how I am happy!
Well, Now my progress is very slow, because I eat a lot again My fault, yes. However, I don't gain weight at all. My surgery keep my weight the same even with this awful eating disorder (I know I have to do something with this )
However, when I keep eating on 1200 kkal, I lose weight extremely fast. and! - when I stop it and eat a lot again, my lost kg don't come back!
I think it is the only surgery which fits the patients who eats a lot, really

This is my progress from may (147 KG) till November (105 kg). Soon I am going to visit my surgeon and we make a pic again

I’m a revision band to sips. Didn’t have any comorbidities. I think I’m a slower loser due to revision and if I’m honest I’m not 100% compliant. No complaints though, love my SIPS.

Hi!!! I am not a revision, I am 5 weeks out and I've lost 38 lbs total. I had 3 comorbidities... Diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I also have Rheumatoid arthritis. All are resolved, no insulin or pills. I am so happy about that. I am in Burlington NC. My surgeon was Dr Jon Michael Bruce at Bariatric Specialists of NC. I do not regret my decision at all. I hope this helps you. Best of luck on your journey!!! [emoji1]

Aww.. what happened with your sleeve? My dr told me just some people don’t do well with the sleeve because it all depends on your metabolic makeup.

The main difference is since my sleeve did not get revised, I don't have the tightness when food hits my sleeve like before. Also you heal much faster at 2.5 weeks I can eat anything I've tried so far. This week I've had chicken and even meatloaf. I still chew forever because I don't know how long it takes my small intestines to heal. I've lost 16lbs since surgery. Weight loss is slower the second time around, but I expected that.
