aussieslady got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in I hate protein shakes
I find all of the shakes overly sweet as well and recently I realized that I can make an Australian iced coffee. Decaf instant coffee usually 1 tsp or to taste with just enough Water to dissolve, then add Fairlife ff milk and ice. 26 grams of Protein for two cups of milk!

I get it at Sam's club. Some has 20g of protein. I find it very sweet, so I dilute 50% with water to get even more water in.

I was also told that Isopure clear Protein Drinks aren't bad either. I think they r 40 grams per 20 oz bottle.

If/when you get sick of the Protein Shakes, try Protein Water. If you can't find it locally, you can order it online: try Protein2O or Atkins LIFT. Lighter than the shakes, helps with your water requirements, and has 15 g of protein per bottle.

sugar-free Jello counts as a clear liquid. If you don't chew it well, it gives a sense of fullness in your stomach for a while when you're doing the pre-surgery liquid diet.

A friend gave me a tip of adding fat free powdered milk to any shakes or milk to increase the Protein so it's easier to meet protein requirements during the post surgery period when u consume very little.

aussieslady got a reaction from clsumrall in Post op pain
I had two c-sections (27 / 25 years ago). Those were hard to recover from. RNY on 4/11 and little to no pain and incisions are higher so much easier to navigate

aussieslady reacted to FindingCarrie in 14 Weeks Post Op - Multiple Stalls
So I am 14 weeks Post op, and things are going great. However, I have had several stalls, which get discouraging. I will go 2-3 weeks and not lose a pound, and then drop 5 lbs in one week! So weird how the body works. When I am feeling disappointed in the slow weight loss, I do side by side photo comparisons of before and after. Here is one that lifted my spirits today. When you see yourself every day, you don't always see the huge changes that are taking place. Don't always count on the scale to show you your victories! Use photos and body measurements as well. You will need them at times when the scale is not moving.

This is all part of the recovery process, sleep when you need to, even if it is shorter naps - that is when the body repairs itself. In a few weeks you will feel better and in a couple months get an energy boost - at almost 6 months I am damned bouncy!!!!

So far so good. Hope to be released later today. Been doing the walks and they do help with the gas. Feels good to be up but is a pain because of iv and stuff still hooked to me.

Well, it’s almost here. Tomorrow, I will finally have RNY surgery. Although I’ve enjoyed many incredible moments, many have been based around food. I am looking forward to new adventures. Starting with a trip to Disney!!
It has been quite a journey so far. Gaining and losing 100s of lbs. The straw that broke the camels back for me was losing 50 lbs last year. I was working out and eating right. I fell off the wagon and not only gained back the 50 lbs but an additional 40 lbs. I was devastated. I’m approaching 50 years of age and I feel myself slowing down. Missing out on activities with family and friends. It is time for a change.
I have spent time during my pre-op journey reaching out to all that encouraged me throughout the years letting them know that their advice did not fall on deaf ears. My only wish would be to have had my parents living to watch this transformation.
I am so grateful to my wife who was and always will be supporting me throughout this process. I am also grateful to all my family and friends for their support.
So let’s do this!!

aussieslady got a reaction from Sosewsue61 in Doctors office staff
My surgeons office is fantastic. They email, they call, they are so respectful. Wish my cardiologist office staff could take notes. Cardiologist states he doesn't expect any issues but wants to have an echocardiogram and treadmill stress test prior to surgery. No worries, I get it. I ask if I am allowed to do them at the same time (working girl here and trying to limit as much time for the sake of office/boss as possible). He is kind and "oh of course you can do that." His staff argued and huffed at me and then put my test weeks out, and since then has refused to send me records to my surgeons office, even though they have told me they would fax. Staff told me he was not in the office the day of my tests and that is why they were not read the day of............wrong, he is greeted me with a hello as he was reviewing a chart between patients the day I was there. I see him again Monday for my follow up (and of course another copay), my records will be in my hand BEFORE I leave his exam room. Thank you, rant is over!
