I like mini bell peppers with a sprinkle of cheese (and warmed a bit in the oven or microwave) dipped in salsa. It's yummy! Also carrots and a tablespoon of ranch dip.

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for the feedback and info. Sorry I didn't reply sooner - I was under the weather big time with allergies yesterday (still pretty bad this morning). Yeah, I don't know what affiliation - if any - she has with Unjury, but it seemed pretty weird that she was so firm on me ordering it. She was also extremely firm on me ordering the Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate chews (which I also did). The hospital I went thru seems really hung up on being anti-PP. Even the dietician who I met with pre-op denounced it. Anyway, Unjury and BA chews are on their way! Thanks again for all the feedback. 🙂

This is all very useful information... I'm on my last few bottles of Premier Protein, and I've been having some issues finding them palatable and looking for alternatives. Just ordered the Unjury sample pack!

Yes. I had a long road with my bypass that eventually was reversed and now I am back 2 years later for a different type. When the doctor told me the above he used the example of a weight lifter. He said that PS was the type of Protein Drink that a weight lifter would drink the night before his workout as it takes that long to digest and be useful to his system. HE then would get up the next day and workout and get the full benefit of the product for his system. He said you don't have that luxury with the bypass as it will pass through leaving you with little to no Protein benefit. I was loosing my hair hand over fist and I was spending a fortune on those drinks being the perfect patient and then finally after low potassium and other health issues and a strong talking to myself we found part of the culprit in using PS.

My doctor at one time used premier solution but stopped after further investigation. One of the reasons you should use simply whey Protein and have to be careful is the amount of time it takes to digest the specific protein type. When I was a gastric bypass patient as you all well know your body only allows a specific amount of time to digest the food and the it passes through quickly a lot faster then a regular stomach. The whey protein that is no isolate takes to long to digest and therefore it passes through before the body as a chance to benefit from the protein. Therefore you are counting the shake into your daily protein allotment but you are not actually getting it. I learned the hard way about this. Unjury is a great product and the ones I have tried do taste good. Not sure about other products.

It is simply a DS that brings up the connection higher on the small intestine so that you can absorb more nutrients

You need to keep high Protein Shakes handy for when this happens. Often times you can mistake hunger for being thirsty and the Protein will no doubt be needed anyway.

Hello Bariatric nation. Well I am super excited to say that my gastric bypass reversal is scheduled for next Wednesday. It took the insurance company only 24 hours to read the doctors notes with test results and ER visit documentation to decide that the procedure is medically necessary. I long for the day I can keep food in and have energy and the stomach ulcers will heal and I can stop taking so much medication. The surgery is on 09/05/2018 I will let everyone know how I feel and the results as time goes on.
Thank you to all those that have had such kind words of encouragement.

Hello everyone! Well very excited to tell you the surgery went very well. Tomorrow I will be two weeks post op and have been mostly on a liquid diet, but the small things I have eaten such as pudding and oatmeal have stayed down with no problem. I am having no abdominal pain other then the minor irritation from the incisions no worries there.
I am actually already feeling the results of having the large intestine back in tact and feeling the nourishment from the food I am ingesting. I am so happy at this point in time. I have now lost exactly 200lbs so I am over 40lbs past where I should have stopped. I obviously do not want to gain all my weight back but do look forward to at least being able to keep things down, in and get the benefit of my food intake whether or not I gain some back or not. I lost from a size 32/34 to currently a size 10. At over 5'9 and large framed that was a lot for the body to take in a year and a half.
I will let everyone know how it continues to go, but I do want to say thank you so much for all the kind words of support, and for those that have no other solution for severe bypass issues I am up till this point, proof that there maybe a solution albeit it may have to be a reversal.

Helllo Cmackpmp. Yes they can do them, and they are more common then people realize. Basically they go back in and reattach the stomach which is already attached to the large intestine, but has been sitting dormant in your abdomen. Where they bring the small intestine up to the stomach, is then removed, and you are returned to your natural anatomy.
There can be things that go wrong such as an ileus, where the colon does not wake up, and the dormant stomach can have issues readjusting as well, however the reversals have been done for many years with much success.
I was unaware of this as well, and simply made a plea to my physician to help me ,as I have been through some many surgeries since the initial procedure, and have had so many complications that the possible problems at this point in time seem minor then continuing to live the way I have been living.
There of course is he risk of gaining some weight back but the surgery is simply a tool to lose weight anyway and I as well as anyone else could gain the weight with or without the reversal. I simply have to get my life back.
I am certainly glad my medical records and history over the past year and a half were enough to quickly convince my insurance company that it is consider medically necessary and they are paying or the surgery.
I hope this answers your questions.

    Hello there,
I think everyone's surgeons do the post diet differently. I was only on liquids for 2 weeks THANK GOD! Then for about the next 6 weeks was on a soft diet. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese this type of consistency and foods loaded with Protein. Remember to chew, chew, and then chew again as this will help and make sure you go slow.
I agree you need to make absolutely sure your physician knows of these type of issues that you are having,
    Hope all goes well!

I most certainly will. I am finding it difficult to eat again like normal. I catch myself stopping before I finish my meal, simply because I still view my stomach as small. This whole process has been crazy mentally, and when I eat I sit and wait for the nausea to start or the pain and it takes a minute for me to realize I can actually hold the food in, and it is not going to come up. My husband tells me you are okay, go ahead and eat, I love he is so supportive and can tell that I hesitate.
The upside is that eating the smaller amounts, as long as I am getting enough nutrition, is okay and I want to make sure that I build on that healthy habit. We went to a fast food place yesterday and I was able to eat 2/3 of the sandwich, a few curly fries, and then just stopped all of a sudden. My husband asked me what was wrong, I said nothing I am simply satisfied and don't feel the need to finish, just because it is there. His response good I am still hungry and will eat it lol. He has had to go on a diet, as he was always finishing my food, and it caught up with him.
Hopefully I will continue to maintain although I am actually hoping to gain some back. I lost 40 more lbs than I was supposed to.

So glad you got checked out. We certainly know our bodies don't we. I am glad you now know what is wrong and hopefully will be on the mend soon. I have been on the meds you mentioned plus two more at the same time and nothing would get rid of mine. Stay with it and take care of you.
I know it can be frustrating to be on the liquid diet but you can do this.

I sure hope you are okay Frustr8. I have gained a little of my weight back after reversal and am so glad but now trying to maintain and stay on top of it. I am feeling a lot better but lately even my reversal has not been able to keep me from nausea and vomiting so I am convinced it is the severe ulcers that are still having their way with me even though on meds.
Stay hopeful. keep your chin up.

Ronnysgal got a reaction from JustMeInCleveland in Newbie with a couple questions
    Hello Justmeincleveland
I did not have a stomach that growled a lot pre-surgery, but after the surgery it was horrible. I have a desk job as a Consumer Loan Officer/Advisor and I cannot tell you how many times I have had to say excuse me as my stomach serenades us. It is simply a fact of life after the surgery for most, as I have several friends who have had the same surgery and experience the same thing.
As far as hunger goes for the first several months after surgery I lost the desire to eat and simply looking at T.V. commercials with food in them especially if I had just eaten made me sick at my stomach. As time progressed I did start feeling hungry but I had many issues that eventually led to the surgery being reversed.
Hang in there as many have successfully accomplished what you are searching for which is a better quality of life and remember not to seat the small stuff while on your journey.
One last thing if you do get hungry remember that sometimes you may not be hungry but dehydrated as you may not be drinking enough so make sure you are getting enough liquid in.
