I am not a new sleever, but I have been doing the beachbody on demand videos, I love it. Right now I am challenging/killing myself and I have started with the 22min Hard Corps Boot camp series....I basically cry at the TV for 22 mins every day - lol

Hello all! It has been a long time since I have posted. I am a little over 4 months out. I was sleeved on July 23rd. I have quite a bit to say, however will keep this post short and post on my blog later regarding my progress. I started back drinking regular coffee after my 1st month out. However, I did encounter some issues with cramping, nausea, and diarrhea. I had to go through a period of elimination to figure out if it was the coffee or something else causing the symptoms. Needless to say after several trials I found out with great sadness that I am now lactose intolerant due to the surgery. It has taken quite a bit to finally find a dairy free Creamer that both myself and my pouch will tolerate. I do not drink much coffee unless I am going hard with studying. I drink plenty of Water using a variety of Crystal Light flavors. I cannot wait to share my weight loss journey with you guys later! Stay tuned! Hope everyone had a great holiday season.

I was told by my team that the gummy vitamins are ok. I didn't have bananas on my grocery list, but my NP told me to get some. It has potassium and help me with my sugars.

Well I am just 5 days away from my 2 week liquid diet then surgery on August 29 th 11:00 am. So my question is to have or gave not a food funeral. I’m more on the side of not but then my mind keeps telling me how good a prime rib dinner would be. Yikes

Cat B reacted to GreenTealael in Four weeks post op after sleeve- what are you eating?
Follow your plans as close as possible and don't move your calories up unless explicitly told to. Your body will adjust and dip back into weight loss so don't worry about starvation mode
As seen in the actual starving masses, if you don't eat ,or don't eat enough, you will lose weight. That's is why these surgeries work (along with other metabolic changes that occur). To get you to the point where you cross beyond starvation mode and actually start consuming fat stores. It takes time and work so be patient
Google ketosis, lipolysis and the mechanisms of weight loss when you have any doubts.
    Safe Journey!

Tell them that you're having metabolic surgery. They'll probably be too embarrassed to admit that they don't know what that is. And include that one of the "side effects" of your surgery is losing weight and maybe some Hair loss. (The hair loss is for a little shock value).
The best part is that this is all true. You are having metabolic surgery.

I think your absolutely right to me it’s an invasion of privacy. Example a girl friend of mine tell me something private and intimate about herself or her husband and I wait just as good to be in a room full of people and say did you guys workout that intimate issue you were having, so did the doctor give you meds to help you out with that. That’s my example and people need to mind their own gosh darn business. Tell them nothing if you don’t want to.

Thank you for explaining to us what your Surgeon explained to you regarding the energy. I walked for over an hour a couple of days ago. BIG MISTAKE on my part!!! I barely made it back home. I had no energy at all! I was so out of it the next day. I move around a little bit and then I am ready to drop. So now knowing what is going on in there makes me understand how important it is to take it easy and not push it.

    HI Sandi,
I am 8 days post op and finding energy comes back little by little. I would say be careful not to over do it. Like an idiot I had appointments I couldn't cancel on day 6 post op and walked almost 7000 steps mostly outside in the heat. Needless to say I felt wiped and dehydrated the next day. Its taken my three days to recover from that.
I asked the surgeon about they energy at the post-op and this what they explained to me. My cuts are laprascopic so they said I have little cuts on the outside but big ones on the inside. 50% of our energy is going to healing from our major abdominal surgery. The other 50% is keeping us alive and doing our body functions. When we go for walks that 50% of energy keeping us alive and running our bodies is cut even further. Then you add the lower caloric intake to the equation. Thats why they say short walks because you will burn your energy quicker and run out sooner.
I was worried too but this made perfect sense to me once explained. I hope this helps!

I am 12 days post op and probably getting about 300 calories in. I walked to the pharmacy to pick up my meds. 30 mins there and back. My energy level has been pretty low. I barely had the strength to make it back home. It was definitely a struggle. I guess I am not ready for that type of walking just yet. I have 1 more week on full liquids. Once I start the soft foods diet, I hope to have more energy.

I just hit 3 weeks out yesterday. I did minimal walking until about 5 days out. Beginning I might have walked 15 minutes with a few breaks. I have a bad back so after about 100yards or so I have to stop due to the pain. I had no issues other than that and being out of shape. My belly seemed fine. As my times out have multiplied I've been able to walk longer and without taking a break as often. As far as calories I have been slowly building those up from 250ish the 1st few days to the highest I've gotten, 571 and 574 which was the last two days. In week two I hit 400 once, the rest of the days were in the 300's. It seems I'm consuming less now but I'm just trying new things that carry more calories ( ie: a 1/4 of banana in my Protein Shake and egg salad with yogart and Protein powder). Hunger is hardly ever the reason I eat, it's more like I eat/drink when not full. If I feel hunger, a few sips of Water kills that.
There's no need to rush or feel like your not advancing enough. Listen to your body, you have to let it heal on it's own terms. If you have concerns don't hesitate to call your Surgical team to ask questions. It's what they are there for now. Be safe and GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I feel you on starting the liquid diet. I can tell you that it does get easier. By day 3 or 4 your body should start adjusting to it. My pre op diet was 10 days and I am 9 days post op still on the liquid diet. Concentrate on your why and it should motivate you to keep going and stick with it. I barely get hungry now. Just constantly thirsty. Good luck! You can do this!

I bought the chewable Women's Gummy Multivitamins from Walmart. They tastes a little fruity. I was able to start taking them yesterday and have not experienced any problems. I also take the liquid calcium citrate of 1000 mg, also from Walmart. It has the Vitamin D that I need in them. The. Vitamin B12 sublingual tablets 500 mcg. I ended up asking my Doctor for Liquid medicine for the acid reflux. I crush all my meds and take them that way until I am cleared to take my meds whole again. Hope this helps.
