PCOSSUCKS got a reaction from BrighterSide in Anyone with PCOS not lose weight after surgery
It took me almost 12 years to figure out why I wasn’t able to lose and was only gaining after living my whole life like a twig until I was 29...GIRLS let me tell you the surgery has been a life and sanity saver! I would do it again even with horrific complications post surgery...or whatever happened... my life is almost normal again like it was 15 years ago.

PCOS seems to slow down the loss, unfortunately. I’m there. In a 3-week stall right now.

Interesting article about the mechanism of PCOS onset and a possible trial for reversing it.

I am almost 6 months out and Ive lost 50 pounds. I have read a lot of stories of people who just dropped weight like crazy and it made me so depressed so I left all of those groups (Facebook) and focused on my own journey and started working out at the gym. Now my weight is finally moving again and I now have 60 pounds to go. I have no idea if I'll make it but Im certainly trying. The upside to slow loss....I have lost no hair, I feel fine and I am trying to tighten my skin and build muscle so I wont look like a deflated balloon

people lose weight at all different rates for all different reasons - age, gender, metabolic rate, starting BMI, whether or not they lost weight before surgery (thus, they wouldn't lose much "water weight" after surgery since it was already gone), etc. Your commitment to your plan is a MUCH greater predictor of your eventual success than your rate of weight loss is. Plus, you don't have a lot of control over your rate of weight loss, so pretty much all you can do is be as compliant as you can.
that said, yes, I was a slow loser. I was told that a couple of times during my follow ups that first year by medical residents, which bothered me because I thought they were implying that I wasn't being compliant - but I was! But I went on to lose 100% of my excess weight.
so just stick to your plan and the weight WILL come off, either fast or slow.

I just went back and found the weight loss diary I kept when I had my Gastric Sleeve. The first couple of weeks I had a loss of a couple of kgs per week, then it dropped to 1 kg, and all the way down to 0.1 kg and even a gain one week. But the general trend was down and I went from 105 kgs to 59 kgs.
So slowly is the answer. Don’t expect it to drop off in a couple of weeks. It is much more likely to stay off if it comes off gradually. If you’re interested in a spreadsheet of the weight loss, just let me know.

I don’t remember how quickly I lost weight with my Gastric Sleeve 10 years ago, but I am losing fairly slowly with the bypass. Since I went on the pre-operation diet on April 30, I have lost about 9 kgs - nearly 20 lbs - but in the last couple of weeks, only about 1 kg per week.
Not worried though - I am in this for the long haul.
The doctor and dietician are telling me I may only lost another 7-8 kgs, but I plan on proving them wrong. I am currently just over 80 kgs (176 lbs) and my first goal is 75 kgs, but my actual goal is to get into the 60s. I’d like to be somewhere between 65-68 kgs (143-150 lbs).
I will enjoy proving them wrong!

well for some reason it wasn't letting me quote anyone...but here it goes...

I have been thinking of how I would tell my story. It isn’t the normal story. It isn’t a happy one.
On Thursday, May 31st, I had RNY bypass surgery. I stayed the night in the hospital and was released the next day in the late afternoon.
I went home, my kids happy to see me and that the surgery was over, and I felt the same. My mom took them to eat bc I fell asleep in the recliner, and why would she think I wasn’t able to walk since I was walking earlier in the day.
I woke up to get my dogs some food…I was super weak in the legs and when I turned around to get back in the chair I fell straight back on my tile floor. I peed myself…I don’t think I passed out really but I defiantly lost my bearings. Of course “hey siri” wasn’t responding so I had to find my phone in a haze. I crawled my way to the bathroom…I actually thought I did more than pee myself but when I checked my pants it was a huge blood clot and fresh red blood…and then a ton more in the toilet. I tried to call a couple of friends that I assumed would be in town but were out for the evening so I called my mom away from dinner. When she arrived she saw what state I was in (pale and bleeding) she immediately tended to me and my 11 year old son cleaned up my urine... he never should have ever had to do that! My mom frantically trying to clean me up and figure out what to do, I somehow had enough wits about me to tell her to dial 911…
When the paramedics arrived I was a light, light beige color and barley a pulse. My veins were so collapsed they couldn’t start an IV …they were struggling….my pulse was super faint and and blood pressure almost bottomed out.
I ended up losing more than half my total blood volume. 4 bags of blood and 2 bags of plasma later. I’m alive. Not the way the surgery was supposed to go. I am home now, having some double vision so its been hard to see my phone so I had wait until I was more alert and with my computer. So tomorrow is one week since my surgery.

    PCOSSUCKS,

That is so scary! I don't understand what caused it, and it's definitely not something you should have had to go through or your family! Wow just wow. Certainly hope for smooth sailing from here on out for you! ❤️❤️
