  1. Thank you, Tealael and Alex. Alex, would it be possible to remove the two hour time limit for editing posts? I was in a bad mood yesterday and I was running my mouth. I'd like to remove some of the things I said.

Where does everyone live? (General area)

I'm in Maryland, but I had my surgery in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
  3. So, I'm down about 30lbs and I just bought some new clothes. They're pretty much the same stuff I already wear, just smaller sizes (leggings and a t-shirt). For the first time when I looked in the mirror I was actually able to see my progress. I asked my husband if I looked any smaller and he replied with, "You're new clothes look nice." I didn't ask if my clothes are nice (they aren't nice, it's just leggings and a t-shirt) I asked if I looked smaller. His reply just got under my skin. Later, I asked my mom if I looked thinner and she replied with "yes" without even looking at me (she was watching TV). Then she started talking about herself and how when she loses a few pounds her clothes are just hanging off of her. (Oh, please). A little later my husband approached me and said in a forced tone "Congratulations on going down a size". I feel annoyed because I do not fish for compliments. I only asked this question because I was finally able to see a change. I guess I was hoping for a more empathetic response.
  4. My surgeon said no bread, pasta, noodles, or rice for 3 months after surgery. Also, no raw vegetables for 4-6 months. No citrus fruits or grapes for 3 months. Does anyone else have these restrictions?

    Raw Veggies

You're allowed raw veggies at 6 weeks? My surgeon told me no raw vegetables for 4-6 months! What the heck?

    Portion Control

I second this! At my pre-op class we were told the same thing. Always use measuring cups and keep portions at 1/4 cup for now.
  7. I have a bad taste in my mouth most of the time. It's almost like a metallic taste. I brush my teeth and use mouthwash but the taste just keeps coming back. I also feel nauseated a lot. Anyone else experience this?
  8. It sounds like water weight, which should come off quickly. At the pre-op class I attended they actually told us not to weigh ourselves in the days after surgery because gaining water weight is so common, and they didn't want us to get discouraged and think we weren't losing weight. Your body just needs a little more time to adjust. Don't give up.
  9. I am 16 days post op and my son just came down with the flu. Whenever anyone in my house gets sick I always catch whatever they have. My throat is already itching and I'm afraid of busting a stitch from coughing. I plan on calling my doctor tomorrow. Has anyone else gotten sick after surgery?

I may have swallowed a seed

Thank you for your help, guys!
  11. I had my sleeve surgery 8 days ago. I was told that I could have no sugar added popsicles, so I was having an Outshine Strawberry Kiwi no sugar added popsicle. About halfway through I realized that I felt tiny seeds on my tongue. I immediately stopped and threw it away, but it's possible I may have swallowed one or two of the seeds. They're pretty small, but if I did swallow one, could that cause a problem?
