All4Russ got a reaction from Megan_Rose in 1 month post op today
Today I am exactly one month post op and I have lost a total of 28 pounds I feel great. I struggle eating but managing to get my calories in as directed. My biggest issue is Protein, because I can’t stand the Protein Drinks anymore and with the small amounts of food I can eat I worry it’s not enough. Any suggestions on alternative ways to get my protein in would be greatly appreciated.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend 🙂

Surgery tomorrow and I’m overwhelmed with emotions. Praying everything goes as planned, my doctor told me that I was one of his healthiest patients besides the obesity so I’m taking that as a good sign. Here’s to the journey ahead😁

I am with you. I will have my last nut appointment next week and then they will submit everything... I am so nervous that something will go wrong and I will be denied. I think it natural to worry.

All4Russ reacted to Czuck1983 in Two Weeks out and Feeling Great
Yesterday I had my 2 week, post-op followup with my surgeon. He was extremely pleased with my progress, 60lbs down since I first met him, 40 since I started liquid only, 20 since the morning of surgery. My incisions are healing wonderfully and he approved me to start eating soft foods. One meal a day this week with 2 shakes, next week 2 meals and 1 shake, and so forth. I was so excited, went straight home and made myself a small omelet, 2oz of egg whites and a tiny bit of mozzarella. It tasted like the best meal I had ever eaten, even without any seasoning (I thought salt and pepper might be a little harsh so decided to leave it bland).
Also spoke to him about last weeks issue with sluggishness and all, he said it is likely because I became overly ketoic, dropping 40lbs in 4 weeks on liquid only and struggling with daily Protein Shakes in the last 2, likely slowed my system down. I was instructed if I feel like that again to get a small amount of sugar, either some apple juice or Gatorade. When I was feeling it on Friday I had a small glass of apple juice and the improvement was almost instantaneous.
Now that I'm on real foods, I shouldn't have that issue anymore, but it's good to know that it isn't that uncommon of an issue and can be easily remedied. But the last 3 days I've felt better then I have in, I don't even know how long. I have a ton more energy, I'm sleeping through the night... and best of all, today I'm at work wearing a suit that hasn't fit me in almost 11 years.
Anyway, thank you everyone for all of the support on here...

All4Russ reacted to LLG1981 in Cigna Approval
    Hi All,
I am new to the group and just finished all of my necessary requirements and was wondering if anyone with Cigna insurance can tell me how long it took for an approval? My surgeons office is submitting all of the paperwork tomorrow and I am hoping for a quick approval so I can get scheduled as soon as possible. Thank you!

All4Russ reacted to TaRena in Cigna Insurance Approval
I am also very encouraged to see that Cigna is so quick to approve. My final NUT appointment is 8/3/17. My surgeon's office has called me twice this week to touch base and to let me know that once I have that appointment things move fast.

Just an FYI for those of you who have Cigna Open Access Plan. I called yesterday because I have been very concerned about having an In Network Anesthesiologist. I could not find one associated with the hospital I am using. I was thanked for being so proactive the CSA was so surprised. I said I have been stuck with a large bill before when an Out of Network (OON) provider was used and I don't want to be surprised again. This was what I was told. So many anesthesiologists are OON these days and hospitals will schedule who they want anyway. That it WILL be OON and billed as such. Because its such an issue, that once I get the invoice for the remainder I need to call them with the Invoice information and they will call the Anesthesiologist billing office and negotiate to settle for what has already been paid. Therefore I will never see that invoice again an no more out of pocket for that. I was pleased for the first time when dealing with insurance. [emoji16]. Good grief, I hope that made sense!

I haven’t seen anything that suggests they deny you if you gain weight, other than I think one other comment in some other thread. I’m just trying to err on the side of caution because I’m sure as an insurance company I wouldn’t put it past them to try to deny. I’ve read a lot of stories of denials turning into approvals though.

Sometimes it’s the only way for others, such as myself and I desired it. I met all the criteria for insurance and waiting a few months was nothing, it was very effortless and it was way cheaper than even going to Mexico to pay for it.
