  1. Peekaboo! Popping in for a year-end update.

I've lost juuuuuust over 100 pounds in 2018 (including pre-op), but I've been stalled in about a 10-pound range for almost three months now. I'm the first to admit I've slacked in sticking to my program's rules; I really need to get back on track with my eating and actually start exercising (the gym membership was short-lived because the expense wasn't worth it on my budget).

Hoping to jump-start the downward trend again now that the holidays are over. I see my PCP in 2.5 weeks and my surgeon a month after that (at which time I will be a year out, holy crap) so I'd really like to be out of the stall by then.

OH also, while I was visiting a friend in Tulsa for Labor Day weekend, I got my first tattoo to celebrate (albeit a tiiiiny bit early) hitting the 100 pounds down mark.

Glad to see you back and congrats on 100#! Major milestone! Very cute kitty tattoo!

What a great visual aid that will be there all the time to remind you of your success and to help you remain focused. Congratulations! 🙂

  2. I joined a gym last night for the first time in my life. Right now I'm only joining for the pool/water aerobics, but who knows what the future holds!

  3. This weekend I'll be going to a cousin's wedding reception (she had a destination wedding several weeks ago) and my family reunion. It'll be the first time I've seen most of my extended family since surgery, so I'm sure it'll be an experience, to say the least. (It's also going to be freaking HOT -- 94-95 degrees, with both events primarily outdoors).

I'm just glad I'm not the first person in my family to have had bariatric surgery -- one of my cousins (mother of the bride, actually) had gastric bypass nine years ago, so most of my family is at least familiar with the surgery/what it entails/the effects (and they all know I was having it, because I didn't keep it a secret).

  4. Finally made it below 350 pounds and am exactly 80 pounds down from my highest weight!

    1. Orchids&Dragons

      Orchids&Dragons

That is awesome! Big milestone! Congrats!

Hooray!!!! Keep up the good work!

  5. As of this morning, officially down 75 pounds from my highest weight!

  6. Tried a few bites of pasta (protein-enriched penne) tonight. No foamies or anything, but didn't sit well. I'm sad about it, but at least now I know and can move on to trying other things, maybe revisit it when I'm further out.

  7. Three months post-op as of today!

      FluffyChix

Congrats girlie! You are doing famously well!!!!! So happy for you!

  8. I am having such an issue with clothing right now -- I have several pairs of capris that fit, and several shirts that fit, but very few of them match! I'm doing laundry far more often than usual simply because I refuse to buy more clothes until I'm down another size.

  9. I have been craving catfish for like a MONTH but hadn't been able to find any (fresh or frozen) in stores. Mom's boyfriend found some today and cooked it in the air fryer, and OH MY GOD it was perfect. Totally hit the spot. Crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside, just as catfish should be.

  10. I have reached a new level of ridiculous, even for me. This morning I downloaded an app to help me track my bowel movements to make sure I'm not at risk of constipation/an obstruction. It will alert me if I haven't gone #2 in 36 hours.

    1. Charity G

      Charity G

LOL...so I'm not the only one tracking this! I keep a little note in my fitness calendar, where I also keep my food diary, medicine, exercise log and water intake

    2. istytehcrawk

      istytehcrawk

I'd been tracking it a very simple way -- by circling the date on my calendar -- but the app gives me more flexibility for unusual "events" so to speak.

  11. My tailbone is not happy with my weight loss. I have to reposition SO OFTEN at my work desk because it starts hurting if I sit one way for too long. This has never been a problem for me before!

    1. Mattymatt

      Mattymatt

It's a good sign! I have the same thing. Means that you're winning the game.

    2. Strivingforbetter

      Strivingforbetter

I have the same problem. Soaking in a tub has become uncomfortable because I no longer have the cushion.

  12. As of this morning, I have officially hit 50 pounds down since surgery! That means I'm averaging 20 pounds per month. Even though it seems slow week to week, I can't argue with that!

    1. Orchids&Dragons

      Orchids&Dragons

Fabulous! I had hoped to hit 50# this weekend, but I'm at 49.2. Oh well, celebration will have to wait!

    2. FluffyChix

      FluffyChix

Congrats! That's just FABULOUS!!! You rock!

  13. Ughhhhh. Worst case of foamies/slimes I've had yet. It's been going on for nearly two hours now, and I'm not sure why. I ate the same thing for supper that I ate for lunch (half a piece of Mediterranean chicken from Denny's), and it sat FINE after lunch.

    1. istytehcrawk

      istytehcrawk

Ugh, make that nearly four hours, but I think it's over now.

    2. Orchids&Dragons

      Orchids&Dragons

I did that last week, UGH! is right!

  14. I haaaaaaaate exercising. Hate it. I do it (not as often or as much as I should, probably, but still more than I ever have before), but I haaaaaaaaate it.

    Why?

    • asthma
    • discomfort (not really pain, but not a good feeling)
    • embarrassment (if done in public at all)
    • lack of stamina (building up, but still low at this point)
    • hate being sweaty, and I get sweaty quick
    • hate being sore afterward
    • IT'S SO FREAKING BORING and I'd rather be doing just about anything else
  15. My body is not liking anything I attempt to consume this afternoon, food or liquid. Major foamies/slimes. Blech.

    1. Orchids&Dragons

      Orchids&Dragons

Hate days like that! Hope it improves soon!

  16. Had to do a makeshift repair on my capris today, using paperclips, because the hem of one leg came undone on my way to work. That's what I get for wearing these for the first time in two-ish years, I guess (they're a 30 but run small because they are the same size as a similar pair I own that are 26s).

Don't mind my super-pale leg. I'd blame it on this being the first time this year that I haven't worn long pants, but the truth is that I'm almost always that pale, except for the forearm that hangs out the window while I drive in the summer, which burns and then gets a brief, faint tan. :D

Good solution! I've used a stapler when I've been in a pinch and needed to fix something on my clothing...

  17. Why isn't there a way to block people on this site? I'm sick of scaremongering and would rather not see it.

    1. Chrisb428

      Chrisb428

I agree there should be. Mine is not so much about the scaring but ive noticed one member in particular that no matter how sincere and upset someone seems to be, they just can't help but be sarcastic. I am famous for sarcasm, but there is an appropriate time and place. It doesnt belong when someone is pouring their heart out publicly because they need an understanding outlet.

There is - you can "ignore" users on the non-mobile version of the site.

AH! Thank you! I hadn't seen that option because I rarely hover over someone's username. They need to make that option available on the person's profile page or directly on the posts they make, but at least it exists!

  18. I am pleased to report the popcorn got along with my stomach perfectly well.

  19. 10 weeks out from surgery, and I just ate popcorn (Smartfood white cheddar, 3/4 cup) for the first time since surgery. It was SO GOOD; now I just have to see if it sits well. So far, so good.

Have been gradually working on trying new things; so far, nothing has given me even semi-major issues, but taco seasoning still doesn't sit well in my stomach.

    1. Mattymatt

      Mattymatt

Dang! You're pretty lucky. I am still on soft foods and having enough difficulty with them. Well, one day right!?

    2. istytehcrawk

      istytehcrawk

My program moves faster than most - one day clear liquids, one week full liquids, two weeks puree, and two weeks soft, then no restrictions (other than those your body creates) at five weeks.

      You'll get there!

  20. Three minor disappointments today:

    • My favorite shirt is officially too big to wear, because it sits awkwardly on my shoulders and doesn't stay put.
    • My good-occasion bra is ALSO too big in the cups. Like, to a startling degree, considering my other bras still fit fine.
    • For the first time since surgery, I've gained a pound, though I *think* that's due to digestive delays.
    1. FluffyChix

      FluffyChix

All 3 of those suck. :( Sorry you had a bad day! Hope this weekend is super!

    2. Charity G

      Charity G

Just think of all the new clothing you'll get to wear now though :) As for gain, how often do you weigh? My weight can fluctuate quite a bit, so I've found weighing once a week at the same time helps.

    3. istytehcrawk

      istytehcrawk

I usually weigh three times a week -- Saturday or Sunday, then Wednesday for the weigh-in here, and Thursday because that's when my surgery was so I can track week-to-week from that.

  21. When I got dressed this morning, I realized I was wrong about the size of the jeans I got at Walmart the other day. They're not 26/28s; they're 24/26s! Which is even better, but also ridiculous because a pair of size 26 pants from the same brand were too small. The jeans have stretch, though, and the pants did not.

    1. Charity G

      Charity G

What a happy surprise :) I've noticed Walmart has been changing up their sizes, too. If I remember correctly, what used to be a 2x is now considered a 3x and that's the highest size they carry (i.e. 26/28's aren't to be found). Of course it could be that maybe its just my Walmarts (Godfrey and Wood River) that aren't carrying the larger sizes.

    2. istytehcrawk

      istytehcrawk

I did see some 26s in this Terra & Sky brand, but I didn't see any 28s at mine (Litchfield, though I also go to Carlinville since that's where I work). Of course, I was only looking at the one rack of actual pants, not the several with capris. I know the 24/26s are considered a 3X.

  22. Tonight's experiment: wonton wrapper lasagna (made with ground turkey and a Greek yogurt cream cheese/mozzarella/cheddar/spices mix instead of ricotta, which I don't like) and tacos (made with taco meat pilfered from my sister's supper). In the oven now!

  23. My jeans were literally starting to fall off me, so I caved today and bought a pair of 26/28s to hold me over until capri weather hits, hopefully in the next few weeks.

The important part, though, is that I bought them at WALMART! I haven't been able to buy pants there in YEARS because they didn't go to my size. Unfortunately, I still had to pay $17 (so much better than the $60ish at Catherine's though), because the 26s that were on clearance for $9 were still too small to be comfortable. SOON, though!

Oh yes, appearance is good for business, I get ya! I don’t really work now, so leggings and T-shirt’s is all I ever wear. I’ve decided that my church attire needs to be amped up from my regular attire. Lol. Gonna try to find some dresses. How about dresses? Do you like them? They can be forgiving, as you go down in size, I think.

    3. istytehcrawk

      istytehcrawk

Never been a fan of dresses, no. That may change as I shrink, but I doubt it.

Exactly how I feel about them...although my thoughts have slightly changed...SLIGHTLY! I’d have to try a bunch on to see which doesn’t highlight my now-still belly. Haha!
