@churchlady2 come visit us on the over 50 thread, there's a lot of us wondering if it's too late for a step like this-and it isn't. We deserve a better quality of life just like the young-ins. I'm in Central Ohio and have lived my whole life in a 60 mile radius of here. Will have my RNY at Mount Carmel in Columbus within a few months, requirments getting finished and then on the schedule. I was 72 December 26th so you aren't the oldest on here. You're very welcome to our Bari-family. Hope yours will be good for you.

Welcome Salazar. I flatter myself that I have all the answers since I'm probably the oldest chronologically on Bariatric Pal. I am actually 72, nearly old enough to date Methuselah. Now there has got to be someone in the whole Delmarva that would take your case. Let's take it out a little bit, i know you're in Northern Va, try maybe the Maryland suburbs. I know there's someone in Prince George county on here. If I remember her name I'll let you know. Golly, most,of us worry about insurance. comorbities, here you are money in hand and still having trouble., it does boggle the mind.Hey I noticed on my tablet one of the highlighted surgeons today was Dr Masoud Resvani in W oodbridge Va. Did you try him? Just wondering. I will be having a RnY in early-mid March , date is still labile at this time. All my prerequirements are done just waiting for a date from my surgeon. I will, have,my surgery at Mount Carmel in Columbus Ohio. I'm so grateful, they don't think I'm too old, many programs won't touch anyone over 60. I have low bp, no diabetes,,no cholesterol and a proper motivation. I am in it to win it just like all the younger people.

Welcome little urchin. No problems with your life with me. Life is too short to not have someone to love who loves you back. I helped my cousin come out to his mother, and a few years later when he married his husband he paid my cousin Shani and I the great honor of escorting him down the aisle. And yes I cried just as much there as all the straight weddings I've,been to. He and his Casey are so happy together. My Baribuddy Fluffy Chix had a cartoon I loved, said "anybody's mean to you I'll be on them like a monkey on Mountain Dew." Mountain Dew is very high caffeine soft drink. I think you'll find acceptance on Bariatric Pal and we are loyal to our own here. We' ve fought our "fat" battles and I think we are better and nicer people for it.

Junuu. Honey I'm 72 years old, 323lbs and still anxious to have my surgery completed. A little nervousness is fine, you wouldn't be human if you didn't feel that way facing the unknown. How can I help you feel better? What part of it all are you most worried about? I haven't had this one, but I've had several surgeries and c encountered many things in my life. I'd like to think I'm a pretty wise person, so if I can help just ask okay?

I second Jenn's statement. Ah I wish I could hug you, tell you things will be better and give you the comforting. I'm virtually hugging you now. You have have been tested tried and been through much that would have totally destroyed a lesser person. I salute you, I know you will triumph and go on, baby steps, until you can run into that sunshine. Your story touched me so deeply.

Rah rah ain't she great? Its our Kimbers#18. A big cheer as she embarks on her journey to surgery land where her surgeon the Wizard of Weigh Loss will perform magic with his hands. Wiggly sqiggly bippity bo, a hour and a half or so and she is through. Taking a nap but she soon will rise, open up her eyes and exercise. Walk walk sip sip that is our song Walking around the unit all day long. Gaining strength, to home she'll return Getting her rest so she won't crash and burn. Kimbers will show us all the victory's won.And now my friends my poem is done. Best wishes from[emoji197]

And I've been widowed 5 1/2 years, I hope it isn't like all the guys told me " If you don't use it You lose it" want something in reserve in case Mr Wonderful comes along. Don't want Mr Barely Breathing, Mr What did you say, Honey? or Mr Just turn the electric blanket,on to medium. Want one that can generate his own heat.

Looks good, remember to get some smaller plates, bowls etc. I intend to,invest in a new blender my last one went "pooof" and a small food scale. Last time I looked they were each about $15 at Walmart. I like your silverware, I found one in my drawer that must have belonged to,my youngest, a Donald Duck, mind you he's in his 30s. So think I'll start with that one. See I guess I never throw things away. That probably means I'm a hoarder or something. Oh well as Popeye says" I yam what I yam". Have a peaceful night my friend.

Roux en Y, it's also called.a gastric bypass. The Y part when they reattached the small intestine to your pouch resembles the letter y. The sleevers lose 75% of their stomach and end up with a long banana shaped tube of stomach. Bypass, we keep our stomach,in our body, it continues to produce its juices and enzymes but our food goes into a small pouch about the size of an egg, usually a chicken to Turkey size, most surgeon's do chicken but I'm sure each surgeon tailors it to the case . The food goes into The small intestine thru an opening between the pouch and intestinal limb the surgeon made, this is called an anastomosis, you might see that term floating around here. It can tighten up, that's called a stricture, it usually can be widened back up, also some people can develop an ulcer here but it's a minority that do. Both proceduree have their pluses and minuses. Does this explaination help or only confuse you? If I come across like I'm lecturing, I'm sorry for that. The food meets up with the digestive juices downstream so your food does get digested. You will lose weight with both types of surgery.
