    Bariatric Nightmare

I indulged in half a hot dog yesterday. Couldn't finish the whole thing.

    Pre Op Liquid Diet

I concede to your argument for the soup. But I still feel that preop and postop diets need to be protein focused and not carb focused for long term success.

    Pre Op Liquid Diet

Perhaps I should have included *Your surgeon's plans may vary* Yours apparently isn't very strict. Mine was very strict. Shoot, some people aren't required a preop diet at all.
  5. It's tough. Anyone that says different is fooling themselves. But you can do it! Stick with it and you'll be so proud of what you can accomplish. During my pre-op diet there was pizza brought in to work for some reason or another. I wanted to cheat so bad. What I ended up doing was peeling a couple of pepperonis off a slice and sucking on them. Satisfied my craving without truly giving in. That's my weird advice - suck on a pepperoni slice or two or three.

    Bypass surgery 45 years ago

Dorothy you are the veteran of veterans - a pioneer in the field of bariatrics! Good luck on getting those pesky pounds back off!
  8. Ah! So you have a good handle on preparing it sounds like. I live on the Kansas side of KC but will be enjoying a family vacation at Lake of the Ozarks this time next month.

    Chopped Salad?

Agree with Fluffy - your sleeve is not going to like that salad at all, no matter how little the portion is.
  10. I think it would be a good idea to cut out sugary drinks that you usually have. Practice chewing your food real well and even work on having your meals without drinks. Start tracking your food and get in the habit of doing that, as it's an important habit to have. I'm not sure what your current calorie goal should be preop to maintain your weight without losing... probably 2000 or so?

How do you have your coffee?

Im one of the folks that uses caramel protein shakes like Premier or Slim Fast Advanced in my coffee. Creamy and no additional sugars.

    The Forbidden Craves

The part of nearly every episode that frustrates me the most: Husband (to camera): I'm watching her dying right before my eyes and there's nothing I can do about it! Wife: HONEY! Go pick me up some fried chicken, a couple 2 liters of Pepsi, and a gallon of ice cream. Husband: Yes dear.

    Pre Op Liquid Diet

Okay sorry but I don't think oatmeal, grits, and cream of anything soups would be considered appropriate for your preop liquid diet. Those are hella high in 'bad' carbohydrates and shouldn't even be a big part of your diet post op let alone pre op. And wait -- you only started yesterday and you're already bored? Its the toughest the first couple days but when you stick with it day 3 or 4 it should start getting easier. Instead of looking for different foods to keep from getting bored try to find activities to distract you. Give yourself a manicure or pedicure, go for a walk, get an adult coloring book, a puzzle, start journaling. Reorganize the closets in your house.

    Vomiting without having ate anything

GERD? Have you talked to your bariatric team about this issue?

    Sleep....and what i miss

I would think the more weight you lose the better sleep you'll eventually get as sleep apnea symptoms tend to disappear as you return to a normal weight. Have you tried some OTC sleep aids like melatonin or antihistamines?
  16. I agree with LessFee - wouldnt worry about it at that low but keep an eye on it and 100.4 is about when you'd want to contact your surgeon to make sure you don't have an infection.
  17. Keep in mind those shakes do not sit in your stomach and keep you full as long as solid foods will. Try changing up your diet a little bit - less liquid protein and more solid protein. See if that helps keep you full longer and away from unnecessary snacking. Also, depending on how intensely you're working out - muscle building? weight lifting? you may need more calories for your body to recover and rebuild muscle and by craving more to eat your body is letting you know that its not getting enough.

Strange musings on my perception of my weight loss

That seems like a fun game. Wonder if I can get Mr. KC to play it....

    The Forbidden Craves

I agree but that probably doesn't make for "interesting television"
  20. I feel your pain. My sleeve doesn't like it when I try to indulge in greasy food either!

Bariatric surgery was a big mistake

    doesn't look like it
  22. Yeah, if I was still in weight loss mode and not trying to put the brakes on my weight loss that’s the one I would have gone for. But the scale dropped another pound and so I went for broke!
  23. KCgirl061

    Dat ten

Yeah at that point I was struggling getting all the protein and fluids in. Adding protein to virtually everything. Just do your best, you'll get there!

    Medications post op

Thats a good question for your surgeon. I don't recall either of those being on the Do Not Take list (unless its extended release) but can't be positive.
