That’s exactly how I was right after surgery. They tried to get me to eat a red popsicle and drink some red Powerade. I threw it up. Looked like blood and I freaked out! Funny now, wasn’t funny then! Glad you did well!

I think part of pre-op dieting is getting it in your head that food is NOT something that you need to turn to all the time. It hit me during my liquid only pre-op. I see people on here who cry at the thought of not eating like they previously had, but that’s kind of the point. I know I can eventually eat the things I love (I want tacos so fn bad right now) but I have to change my relationship with food first. Good luck! 😘

You can do it! Listen to what Tealael said about NOT eating any carbs. (Nothing White) Try drinking lots of Water too. You can eat all the meats and vegetables you want but no carbs. If you get a really bad craving for carbs just try to eat only ONE serving a day. Hugs and best wishes!

I laughed my butt off when I first read this post but I ended up doing the same thing last night. Your right, the seasoning from the chip was really really good but it was soooooooooooooo hard not to eat that chip. Five weeks of liquids (2 pre-op 3 post-op) is just way to much and is really beginning to get to me. I have to continually pray for strength and remind myself if I do the wrong thing I could end up with a leak and back in the hospital and start all over - I could not handle that.

I just told people I was having weight loss surgery. Everyone I worked with was super supportive, especially since they realized I trusted them with this detail about my life. They appreciated that & showed it.

I'm a teacher as well. Yes, they are extremely nosey. I got question after questions about my weight loss. I had been out a few months prior with another surgery. I just put it on complications of that surgery. Of course I didn't tell them what that surgery was either. So you know there were many rumors. I just sat back and laughed. I didn't think it was anyone's business so I still don't budge.

I’m a teacher and they’re nosy as f! I told my friends, but other than that, I just didn’t tell them beforehand. I don’t really care if anybody knows. Tell them it’s none of their damn business! (Lol! I wish, but know you’re not really gonna say that!)

I would think you’d be ok. Just make sure you’re getting plenty of liquids before and after your surgery! Kidney problems are no joke!

The surgery will work for u just fine as long as u think positive, stick to ur goals and don’t over eat. The sleeve isn’t so that certain foods will make u sick so u don’t eat them. That’s more like gastric bypass where u have no stomach acids to break down food that travel straight to ur intestines. The sleeve is a restrictive surgery meaning restriction from the amount of food u can consume in one sitting. I’m 10 days out and I haven’t had one food make me sick and I can gulp water too. But I can feel when I’m full or getting there and I’m not hungry between meals like I used to be. U have to look at it in a positive light. The goal is not to be sick from eating certain kinds of food. It’s to eat what U like just in strict moderation. Granted u may not be able to tolerate certain foods as u used to. For instance beef, it takes a long time to digest period so it could make u feel very heavy, bloated & fuller quicker verses eating ground turkey. It’s softer and lighter and more easily digestible so u may be able to eat a little more turkey than u would beef, if that makes sense. Doesn’t necessarily mean ur gonna go throw it up or experience dumping.

BariatricPal has some Soups that I liked. I got the variety pack. They were good when I was sick of sweet shakes.

The same happened to me. I woke up with a pad on. Also, according to my paperwork many women start during or soon after surgery. The nurses are use to it.

It will be alright, trust me. I had my surgery on 12/02/17, got my period in the morning so I took with me my overnight always pads which I feel comfortable in. I was so nervous and irritated that this had happened on surgery date. As I whispered these facts to the nurse as I was getting ready (taking clothes off to put hospital stuff), she handed over hospital panties and gave me a big weird pad, then said: it’s fine, this happens all the time, it’s usual and there is nothing to be ashamed off... I was so happy and relieved to have special panties and not worry about being fully out while on my period. To make things better, I asked if I could change to my own pads and they were like sure!! I was relieved! The pads from the hospital were not comfortable at all. I was so happy! Just take a few things with you and you will be fine: baby wipes and your own pads (in case you get your period too). You will be fine. Good luck!

If you go by data gathered by doctors on their patients...actual weights taken by doctors at the one month check up (rather than what people report...people lie a LOT about their weight)....the average weight loss in the first month after sleeve is 18% of excess body weight.
Which means....if you have 100 pounds to lose on the day of surgery...you will probably lose 18 pounds in the first month.
If you have 50 pounds to lose on the day of surgery....you will probably lose about 9 in the first month.
If you have 200 pounds to lose...you could lose 36 pounds in the first month.
But yeah...according to hard data taken at doctor's visits......18% loss of excess body weight at the time of surgery....is average for the first month.
And of course individuals vary. Some lose a little more, some lose a little less. Other factors....surgical complications, slow healing, fast healing, menstrual cycle, adjusting to any alterations of maintenance meds, etc....can cause a bump in either direction.

The good thing is...once it's done there is no going back! So far the best part is to see my 12 year old daughter not wanting to eat high carbs and wanting to loose weight along with her momma! I was so worried about her gaining so much weight...so not that I just did something to change my life to be healthy , but I am changing hers. So far this has been the absolute most precious gift towards my new life! I just wish I would have done this sooner. She's my diet buddy. It's not easy but it will be worth it.

I am phase 2 post op, but my surgeon has a really strict phase 2 and mine seems to be different then everyone’s. 1 week post surgery I’m on Clear Liquids only w/ 1 Protein Shake a day. That’s phase 1. Phase 2 is 2 weeks of full liquids, my choices are yogurt, creamed Soups strained, broth, Jello, pudding, popsicles and that’s it. Today I had some Tomato Soup w/ skim milk. And then couple popsicles and for dinner I had a Protein shake. That’s all I really could force myself to eat today lol.

That must be true because I know SEVERAL ladies who struggled to have a baby before surgery. After, they got pregnant quickly!

Good question. I’d love to hear the answer. I’m not far enough out to know. I do know that they took me off my bc after surgery and I had the longest, heaviest flow that I’ve ever had! Ever! It was awful!

Fish is not very dense which is why you can eat more of it. The first time I really felt the restriction was when I ate 1/2 bun less burger. I'm a year post op and dense Protein fills me up much faster.
