Good job everyone! I'm 5 days postop and feel exponentially better today! No pain getting out of bed anymore! 🙌🏼 It was my mom's birthday this week so I just got back from lunch at Texas Roadhouse. My favorite 😩 I expected to leave in tears after watching everyone eat ribs and steak but you know, I was just fine! I was able to enjoy time with my family and not feel deprived. I felt victorious!

Hi everyone! I am 5 days post op from my sleeve and have been thinking about Dr. Weiner's long term nutrition goals that he gives his patients. I know I am a long way out but I would love some opinions from those of you who are WLS veterans.
I know that my practice, as well as many/most others really stress the importance of high high Protein diets and protein first. If you have watched Dr Weiner's videos or read his book, you know that he is more of a believer in lots of veggies, fruits, seeds, nuts and legumes and lean proteins-poultry and fish-he's not a beef fan. His recommended protein levels aren't as high as what my practice instructs, or what I have seen on this forum. His way of eating feels more natural to me, maybe even healthier. I totally understand the role of protein in our systems, and I also understand the importance of veggies and the other things he encourages.
Now, I know that it's important to follow the diets given by our nutritionist, but I can't help but feel that eating protein first leaves very little room for veggies and other whole foods. Therefore robbing our bodies of vital nutrients that Vitamins can't provide.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Yes less cleaning for sure! Try not to overdo it.

Someone in my FB group said that her surgeon did an internal stitch to help avoid a hernia and a pop could be felt when it breaks. It's supposed to break. Could be that!

I think what it is going to come down to is how your surgeon and your primary care physician write about your weight loss attempts in their notes. That was my experience anyway. But to answer your question, it doesn't make it sound like it needs to be consecutive.

Prayers! You got this!

Great job. Keep at it!

Is your tummy super stiff? I was great yesterday but this morning? Wow! So stiff. Burping and walking will help get the gas out. Hope we both feel better soon.

I'm 2 days out and am having the same feeling. Try warm liquids...teas and broths. And try to get burps out.

Thank you for this explanation! I was getting concerned too.
I only found out about this group last night. I am having gastric sleeve surgery tomorrow morning. Today is my one and only liquid diet day. But reading other people I was getting so worried.
I am at a lower BMI, but qualified for the surgery because of a list of co-morbidities. My weight gain is hormonal. Gained more than 100 lbs after having a hysterectomy 7 years ago. I went from thin, healthy and energetic to overweight and tired with diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, high cholesterol and sleep apnea. (It’s been a rocky 7 years.)
I am 5’11” and am currently 258 lbs. Highest weight was 283. My goal weight is to at least get below 200. That is about when all the health issues started. Would be wonderful to get back to 150-160 lbs, but given my hormonal issues, that is probably a stretch.
Try not to worry! I'm super excited for you and we will both be in recovery 12 hours from now and on our way to good health

I been reading a lot of the comments about the two weeks Pre-op diet and I’m a little councern about it.. I don’t understand why I only got 3 Day liquid diet.. should I be worried?? Any one ealse?? ... I’m going on Jan 19th
I have a 2 day clear liquid diet and surgery on Monday. TOMORROW!!!!!!! As said previously, all surgeons are different. I asked mine why his was shorter and he said in lower BMI patients he doesn't see a difference in a long vs short liquid phase so the shorter is adequate to shrink the liver.

What about joining some running/fitness groups? I'm 17 years out of the dating game but it seems like a great way to meet people. If no romantic interests, at least some great friends.

I have also read about the infamous "3-week stall". The only thing is, I haven't lost anything at 2 weeks post-op in addition to week 3 : /
Best of luck on your upcoming surgery!!!
Thank you so much! I hope things are picking up for you!
